Welp, so much for my Wave 2 map: Was way too ambitious on the project. I wanted to try and build something large like Sketch's "All in a Nutshell" but, like I said, too ambitious a project. Gonna do something simpler next time. I at least have some nice dungeons/designs I can use in other maps, so there's that.
Anyways, be prepared to meet your Doom. Next week. In Wave 3.
(Now for the evil laugh part:) Muahahahahahahahahahaha!
(Yes, I'm doing something inspired by the new Doom game. The game is tons of fun and I want my map to be tons of fun just like it!)
Well, it is finally here. With about a half hour to spare, I managed to finally finish my jam map.
Based on the backstory of the popular adventure map, Cube Inc., I did my best to recreate the manufacturing facility to what I could. This is some of my best building work and I hope you enjoy it.
It turns out I should have enough time to make a map this weekend. I may try to stream myself making it at some point too but no promises on that. I'm pretty happy with the theme this time though.
The Apocalypse theme was pretty hard to do, because trying to make something original in this theme is quite tricky. But still, I present to you Oppidum Nix, the Frozen Kingdom, which was completely destroyed by a curse of eternal winter. And your goal is to try and break this curse.
So I'm not quite done with my map yet, mainly working on the third area still, but the first two areas and most of the mechanics are done.
Here are some screenshots:
@Vezon I think you and I have completely opposite themes.
Bouncing back from my last bad attempt, I give you this. I'm really happy with how it turned out considering it's the first map I've publicly released.
EDIT: I've reworked the boss fight a bit, it should be less annoying now. Also fixed a slight oversight involving said boss fight. You can download the original version here.
I just played through your map and noticed a very serious issue- the mobs that have a faster attribute speed are way too fast. Some mobs are actually so fast that it's extremely hard to hit them. Hopefully you can fix that issue before other people play the map because for me personally, it made the map far more difficult than it needed to be.
So the idea behind this map is that the world is overheating. Your goal is to go and stop it from overheating by collecting wool. I've got a couple interesting mechanics related to that in the map.
I really enjoyed the theme of this jam. It was loose enough that we don't have 10 of the same type of map, but narrow enough to give some direction.
Special thanks to nb and bio for helping out with testing the map. Especially bio, who suffered through a version that was not any where close to balanced for 1.10. However with their help it has vastly improved.
Skeletal buildings are all that's left to speak of the bombs that scattered ash and dust into the skies, turning them forever grey. Even now they sink beneath the snowfall of this everlasting winter.
For the living, it is an insidious demise beneath the soft snow,
hunted, cold, and alone.
Note: Should use a render distance of 12 or higher

Your ever dwindling heat is now measured by the XP bar beneath your health. Standing out beneath snowfall, trudging through frost, and falling into frigid water will slowly freeze you to the bone, while stocking up on warm clothing and hearty potions will keep you warm. Falling low on heat will leave you numb and weak to any dangers you encounter, so beware.
Apparently the spawners in my jam map are broken in 1.8 which is the intended version so I'll fix that tomorrow afternoon just to let you know if you had that problem. For some reason they broke before I uploaded it to mediafire.
Rather than have hours of boring footage to watch for each wave, I decided to just do "highlights" for each wave. Here's the first wave:
Hello CTM Community. <3
I was going to come out of nowhere and submit a map for this wave, but it turned out bad so I'm scrapping it and am going to try again during wave 3.
(shoutouts to Ty and Tikaro who played my bad map and gave me feedback)

Here is Chip's map for the Jam, wave 2. Things got in the way, so we had to crunch for time, but here it is."Ruthless End."

So long as I have my pick and my sword; I'll be just fine.

Good luck to everyone still trying to finish!

Armageddon - Overly hot temperature and related mechanics.
Nuclear Winter - Overly cold temperature and related mechanics.
Yeah, a lot of death by fire or death by cold.
...nah, I kid. All of these wave 3 maps look really cool (pun not intended). I can tell I'm gonna have a fun week playing though all of these.
I may or may not end up writing a brief review of each map (from all waves) once I finish them all.
Fang,you should update thread again.
Google Doc has been updated with links to all the maps! Enjoy
