I feel kinda sad posting screenies now. I'll leave it up to the community to decide, but considering the similarity and timeframe, I think you passed a limit imho...
I shouldn't say exactly why, but I can vouch that Xhen is not trying to copy you in any way. If anything he's copying from me, and I'm okay with it.
Also, Xhen has been implementing lots of underwater glowstone for a while now, as seen on his own map thread (particularly Intersection 1).
Maybe, I'll wait for his answer I guess. It just bothers me that I post a pic 24 hours ago on twitter, including cyan stained clay, andesite, and water as the generic colors, and he just immediately works on an area with the same colorscheme and setting. I know he follows me on twitter, and seeing a very similar pic within 24 hours does not make you feel very happy *sigh*.
Its not that I dont want to claim the entire schene forever or so. But it feels very sneaky to post it so fast after. Imo.

Last Area, decided to work my way backwards difficulty wise. Will add variation to stone later, was focused on getting the main aspects of the area finished today.
Area without night vision
Full view of last area
Start of second area
Entrance to the main part of the second area
View of the tree at the center
Starting area
All thats left are the aesthetics for the 3rd area, then overall gameplay implementation and loot. Based on the amount of time I've allocated for the weekend, I should be able to finish in time.
Everybody's areas are looking pretty sweet, and I can't wait to play the maps when they're complete!
Alright, here is the one and only photo of my map (at least until it's done).
Feedback?

Hey there, all. I stream CTMs as well as other indie games, Minecraft servers and probably that's it. I'm your supreme overlord too so I command you to CHECK ME OUT: www.twitch.tv/techniclepanther
Ah, time to get to the critque. For the record, I didn't play the map; the starting areas, yes, but then I just opened in LAN and flew. Also, this is probably going to be spoilery, so turn back now if you don't want to be spoiled. Also, I don't have that much expierence with CTM playing.
So, as I spawn I see the 2 chests: the starting gear, and the stuff for lazy people. The latter was a nice touch, as well as the 'fight or flight' enderpearl. It literally is fight or flight: You use it to fight, or you use it to go flight. However, I thought the creeper head was pointless.
Anyway, I continue my way across the broken path after I found that fortune pick under a coal. Thought there was something in the cobble nearby, however. After being careful until I ran out of blocks, I see the first area where I fight. I go ahead and sprint to light up, and - OMG invisible skeletons with KNOCKBACK enchanted paper?!
After I'm done, I've aquired myself a set of chain, and some decent tools and armor. I see that the monument is at the intersection, and I stopped playing there. The first area I go visit is the tower, flying myself the way there. As I fly, I wonder why the paths are so long and broken. It just seems a waste of time for the player.
Anyway, the tower had this zombie mob spawner all over the tower as you ascend. I got its torches as expected, but I'm not sure if you're supposed to get their chain armor. After ascending, I see the things what would be in a tower: brewing stands, anvils, tools like that. But, I don't think the player is going to use it since there's no enchanted books for the anvils or nether wart for potions. Overall, I like the decor (snow layers for clouds) but not really the usability. Still gives you loot and the player could farm torches.
Next is the red wool area, supposedly the easiest. If the player went to the tower first, it would break the difficulty. Anyway, it's just your average area; dark forest, mob spawners, loot to keep you going, and the red wool in the pond. Hm, the yellow in the tower was a different tower, and yellow wasn't covered by anything except the tower. maybe it's just my semi-OCD.
The last area, the hardest, is blue wool. Nice helix shape, another go high area but this time with the fall off, and ghasts, custom mobs, and a really visually pleasing area. There's the sort of loot you'd find in a black wool-esque area, diamond sword, splash potions, and a lot of risk. At the top there is a mini - erm, not sure what it's called off the top of my head, and there's also a random regular zombie spawner just by the one piece of wool. But why just a regular mob spawner at this high with a lot of block density? It's like the tower, difficulty is at the point where it's supposed to be, visually appealing, but nothing to use long term.
TL:DR
Visually appealing, long paths for no reason, not much loot in the areas for the long term people who keep dying (potatoes?). Also, not sure if the map maker knows you can craft chain armor using fire...
8/10, but kudos for you to get the first mini-CTM out in the jam.
As for me, saturday is an IRL busy day. :/
EDIT: I thought the map was needed to play in snapshots, but that was a different map.

Review of Sylf's Air
Air was a pretty crappy map, to say the least. Sure, there were custom mobs, and nice aesthetics, but this map is beatable within half an hour. And while it is a "Mini-CTM", this one proved to be extra mini. The first area is super easy, and for the others, I just pillared.
There was little difficulty, but there was also little creativity.
Sylf fell into the same traps many first-time CTMers do. There was a lame four way intersection/monument, corrupted paths, and cliche areas. These all proved to be simply annoying, and didn't really help to add to the atmosphere of the map.
What he could have done to stay closer to his theme is actually make each of the areas related to air. This is not really an air based map, it is simply floating isles, and nothing more.
However, the aesthetics in the map are relatively sound, but that is all I will give him. I was not gaping in awe at the beautiful areas.
Sylf could have much better represented the theme, the map is too easy, and I did not feel any satisfaction completing it at the end.
The map seems too rushed, and unfortunately, it doesn't work out.
Specific Comments: The double helix area was too annoying for me to bother...
You could have put obsidian at the top of the tower to prevent pillaring.
You should have made some sort of fleecy box.
Honestly, the clouds represent the theme pretty well, but that doesn't explain the rotten tree area and the tower, there was no explanation for why these isles were floating.
Looking back now, the yellow wool platform was a block closer to the monument than the red. Was this intentional?
Adjustment: I almost forgot about the spawn area! That was actually done pretty well despite the floating isle issue IMO. That brought the score up to a 5/10.
5/10
No offense, Sylf. But a bad map is a bad map. That's not to say you can't improve.
BTW, thanks for the feedback! I'm sure you'll enjoy my map.

Hmmm. Well today turned out to be a great deal busier IRL than I had expected. :/ I had been hoping to have tomorrow to work on my redstone and spawners but now I have to make all three dungeons too. How do you people work so fast? All I have done is the little bit of spawn and the actual landscape. (It's a one-area open world map. Also, don't expect any great aesthetics here; mine is just based around my weather gimmick.)

Hmmm, I think that you went into the map slightly biased in thinking that, oh, it was made in a day, therefore it must be bad. Secondly, I don't think your review is that fair due to the fact that as you stated yourself, you bridged over most of the areas and I will update the rules to stop players from doing that. What I find most frustrating is that you offered little to no suggestions on how to fix the problems that you have mentioned.

I'm thinking of putting in two entries, one Air and one Asylum. I want to be able to try different things, and air is fairly easy to make. I'm going to focus more on the one me and Linkruler are doing, but I'm going to do the Air on the side because I'm not in the place I want to be with the Asylum, it's good, but could be better.
