Map Type: Very Small CTM Difficulty: Very easy -> Impossible (no balancing) Objectives: 4 "sacrifices" + Diamond block
Minecraft Version: 1.7+ Length: 1 hour -> 10 hours (if you suck) Theme: Journey
Lore: After dying, the worthy are sent to the cities of the afterlife, you were instead sent to the lake of rebirth, the entrance to the underworld. To get a second chance at life, you must journey into the underworld, and sacrifice the 4 wool and a block of diamond to the Temple of Sacrifice. Fight through hordes of the underworld's undead and retrieve the heavily guarded wool.
Map Features: 3 small areas and one mildly big one, traps, loot, ghast hyper spawners, and best of all: A doggy pal. Don't expect this to be the best map ever. It was built in 3 days and is largely detailess. Also some of the work is lazy, but what could you expect from me? Hope to get feedback as this is my first ever CTM map. Good luck
Your eyes slide open, the calm rain streaking your face. Your mind is blank, save for a single emotion: sorrow. Something horrible happened to someone you loved, but you don't know what or when. A trail of light streams ahead of you through the rain, and as you stand to follow it, a voice whispers in your ear...
So this is the result of my severely restricted schedule I had to work around for the event. As such, it's probably not the greatest, likely horribly balanced (haven't even playtested it yet), and definitely not going to win anything. However, I did the best with the time I had, and I feel the concept I ran with was ambitious to start with. Hopefully you enjoy.
I put a lot of work into this and I am very happy with how it turned out. For as far as mini ctm standards come I would rate this very high. I'm surprised I made such a good map in such a short amount of time. I hope you guys have as much fun playing it as I did making it and make sure to vote for it if you liked it.

Your eyes pry open. You slowly clamber your way out of bed, but then you noticed it isn't yours. Then you remember: You just died. But what is this place? All you see is lava, obsidian, and darkness; no clouds, angels, or celestial monoliths. You appear to be in some kind of cracked, dusty prison cell.
Quickly, you come to the conclusion that you're in hell. But why?You haven't done anything bad that would have you sent here. Surely there must have been some kind of supernatural mistake. Refusing to remain in the depths of hell, you walk out of your cell and begin to climb...
Embark on a skyward journey to reach the promised land and claim your rightful spot in the heavens, collecting the four symbols of power along the way in order to gain admittance. But be careful; it certainly will not be easy...

NOTE: Due to a weird bug, this map MUST be played in Minecraft version 1.6.x.
I can't exactly say that I'm perfectly happy with the gameplay. I made a few small adjustments after my test, but I don't know how much it helped. Nonetheless, I feel like it's still a very challenging, enjoyable map with a lot of playtime, and I'm very happy with the aesthetics. Have fun!
This map is a rush-job from me. Seriously. I'm really hoping it's playable, as I tried my best to include some unique gameplay, though pretty much all my original plans got smashed due to system limitations and a lack of time, so all my postings about gameplay are so wrong. However, I really enjoyed the process of making this, and hope it feels interesting, fun, and balanced!
So I uploaded a timelapse (lazy fastforward) of my livestream of mapmakingness. So you can see my terrible technique. If you have too much time, or just want to listen to some 8-bit coheed, then:
I got a bit of a late start and the item/spawners/balance of the map was done with next to no time left so it's probably not very balanced but I had a lot of fun making the map. I'll be going back and doing some more in depth balancing within the next week or two to make it a lot funner though.
Okay, so, here's what happened. My partner and I had a build we were working on. It was going WAY too slowly. Basically, I had laid out a build that would take two people all their available time for three days. I was the only one building for almost two full days. This created some... hm... delays.
So I went back to the drawing board. Started fresh with a brand new idea, working solo. The architecture is FAR less impressive, but it's done.
I took "journey" in a different direction. The inspiration for the map is the difficulty I had making it. The journey around which the map is centered, therefore, is the journey of a map from start to completion. I've called the map "work in progress". I'd say it's probably pretty easy to most people who do CTMs... maybe a twenty to thirty minute start-to-finish game. It's not stunningly original, but unlike Rome, it WAS built in a day.
I still have about half an hour to tune, though. Back in a bit.
I'm sorry about not posting any screenshots, but so far I haven't actually figured out how. My Media seems to require I already have images uploaded in another place I can't find. The images button requires it be somewhere else online already. If someone can give me a hint, I'd be grateful.
Thank you to Browneye414 for the assistance. Picture is below fold.

Wow. If I'm counting correctly, that's 19 entries released so far. I expected there to be a large turnout, but not this large. I thought there would be around 15 or so. All of the maps look great, I really look forward to playing them as soon as I can!
Hai, What do you guys use to make headings like that? for instance How REDEMPTION is an image itself, do you like randomly search for the words in cool fonts on google/bing? lol
Special thanks to Axl Rosie for the sig.
How on earth did you miss the opportunity to name this "The Midnight Train", with a theme like Journey?
