Greetings, I am The Provost. My goal is to provide a list of maps that both acknowledge the work of the map maker, and informs the map player of which maps are worth playing, and which aren't. I intend to do this in a simple way: play through the map in question, and share my opinion to those who read. However, I do not judge easily. There is no sugar coating or toying around when it comes to a review from me. What you see is what you get.
I am a stubborn man. I play through a map until it's finished, no matter how much I may want to give up due to frustration or even boredom. You can rest assured that you'll be getting or reading a review from a professional perspective. I judge all maps equally, whether you're a well known map maker, or a newbie looking to get feedback. Too others, who played a map based on my review of it.. please feel free to add a review on top of mine. I enjoy reading reviews, and if you have points that argue mine, we could discuss our points, and help others to decide whether the map is good.
As previously stated, I give tough reviews. There is no mercy shown-- just brutal honesty. Some people would enjoy a map that I have rated a 3 out of 10, due to it being the average score I give. After reading other reviews and comparing my thoughts to the same map, I've seen that I typically score a map at least 3 points lower then others. So please, do not skip a map based by it's number score. Read the review, and see if it fits to your liking.
However, for those that are impatient, this is what my number scores could usually mean:
0-0.9 - Horrible. This map was atrocious to me, and I probably regretted playing it. Just skip over this map.
1-1.9 - A general disappointment. I would expect a map that was rated at this score to have little work put into it, and I would of had little fun playing it.
2-2.9 - Poor. The map was made quickly with little attention to detail or creativity.
3-3.9 - Nothing special. I was mildly entertained by a map of this score. Nothing made me feel amazed, but I didn't regret playing it.
4-4.9 - Decent. I enjoyed it.
5-5.9 -Alright. So-so in other words. The effort given was noticed by me, I had fun and nothing irked me about it in particular.
6-6.9 - Good. Features good builds, good fun, good difficulty and creativity. A good map.
7-7.9 - Pretty good. Now we're talking. I would recommend a 7 - 7.9 map to anyone. Very few receive this from me, so it's worth it to at least check out the map's link, and maybe a quick YouTube video of it for interest.
8-8.9 -Awesome. Borderline incredible. I would have to be unable to quit the game, due to being so enthralled by this map. Great scenery and a good story plot is a must to get anywhere near this score.
9-9.9 - Amazing. Holy mother of maps. Look out, we've got an expert over here, and they're pumping out solid gold. I would play this map multiple times, because of how good it is.
I do not normally do redo's for map reviews. The only way I would, is if you:
Sent me a private message, stating why you deserve a redo.
Asked nicely and in a civilized, mature manner.
Actually deserved a redo.
If you don't like the score I gave you, you shouldn't of asked for a score. This is a warning message. If you suggest a map, you will be judged. Fair is fair.
Additional Info: The map is intended to be short and sweet, much like the original instance from World of Warcraft. If you pick Warrior or Paladin the game will be a breeze. If you choose Hunter or Priest you will encounter some difficulty, and if you choose Rogue you may have a hard time.
Thank you for reading and I eagerly await you review no matter the rating. It is much appreciated and I respect your work.
When you first log in, you span in a mossy themed beginning room, and given the introductory rules. Don't break blocks, play on at least easy, have fun. The usual. I was anxious to see what this map would be, but as I started seeing open land, I saw how bare the landscape was, and how basic the builds were. I was unimpressed, and it didn't really feel like a map to me at this point.
After a while of walking, you are introduced to a broken down village. Collect the wheat, complete the puzzle, and move on. There is a story to the map, but for the life of me I can't recall it. It was only a few books spaced out in chests, with character stories. I would say that this map was more of an obstacle course then an adventure map.
I had a few minor complaints, such as the long dirt tunnels that were lit up, but had spawners commonly placed. Also, no weapons to use in case one did spawn. There was a few parts where I had to wait to play, due to being unable to save at the checkpoints, because it wasn't night.
There was actually a part that I'm pretty sure was impossible. I did have to break a rule and give myself a block to be able to pass it, due to seeing NO possible way around the issue. A random football field was placed for you to walk through, with no explanation to it in the story, which was almost non existent at this point.
I can't say I enjoyed this map. It was confusing. The only positive things I can say, is that I liked one of the puzzles in the early part of the map, and the football field was well built, although random.

This map is, as you can guess by the title, emerald themed. It's kind of an enclosed environment as well. Personally, although I love the way the emerald block looks, I didn't like how simple everything looked. More decoration, imagination, or maybe some outdoor views could of been used to enhance the experience. You are told to simply complete the puzzles, only break clay, and to collect as many hidden emeralds as possible (I found a stack + 36).
During the first half of the map, I strongly thought I was playing a pure parkour map. It switches through into some easy but fun puzzles (I won't give spoilers, but my favorite level envolved pigs). The hardest part of this map is definitely the parkour though, but I never felt a real challenge while playing.
A small thing I would like to point out, is that I saw a few typos. The map could be gone through again, and the signs could be looked at and fixed. Also, there were random items given to me that I never found out why I had them (a potion of harming, and about 2 - 3 stacks of golden apples).
Over all, the map wasn't very enchanting, there was no story, and it was all essentially a scavenger hunt-parkour-emerald finder. You're given a very nice chest for destruction, with a couple power weapons, and a couple of other goodies, which was neat. I see a lot of room for improvement.
EDIT: I felt that the mechanics the map did have were a bit below average. There were points where I had to walk over a pressure plate with a command block used for automated messages multiple times, repeating the same message. That was rather annoying. The puzzles, while seen in other maps, had a fresh twist. It didn't feel like I was playing just another puzzle map, but once again, I saw the room for improvement. You won't be playing with this map for anymore than 3 hours, which in my opinion is a good thing.

I respect your opinions, but you didn't judge everything. For example, how about the content? How long was the map? Was it too short? Also, what about professionalism? How well did redstone, command blocks, and mcedit filters work? The originality? Have you seen some of these puzzles in previous maps? I didn't see some of those in the review.

I do not name specifics of the content in the map, so that others can enjoy it as a surprise. I try to be vague when I talk about the content of the map, as I feel it has a better effect for people who are looking for maps, but don't want the surprise ruined. I do however agree about the lack of other things; I'll be honest. I will add to the review, and edit the application form to help me see what people would like to be talked about in my reviews. Thank you.

All right, seriously. This is getting boring of waiting.

Your review is quite lengthy I like to see that a lot of people who do this kinda bullcrap the ratings. You seem to know what you're doing good luck man. Also I suggest searching for maps on your own usually the better maps don't come to you. But either way great job.
Everyone, I am 99.9... % sure that this guy is done with this stuff. I have been waiting for 3 years now (it's true, check the posts) and he has not gotten back to me with a review. Only two reviews too... Slightly disappointing.
