So here are the basics of this project I am currently working on. I have been working on this survival RPG type map for a couple of months now and I wanted to share the progress and information on this map. This thread is also a discussion & development blog of the map, so I will post updated content of the maps progress down below as time goes on.
There will be custom loot scattered around the
island that you can find by killing monsters, loot chests,
and buying stuff from Quartermaster Jackson.
There are 6 different levels of rarity for items,
each rarity has its own color, the higher the rarity,
the harder it is to find, or has a lower chance of dropping
from mobs.

Common=White
Uncommon=Gray
Rare=Green
Ultra Rare=Purple Epic=Orange

There will be a few custom dungeons integrated
into the map, 1 main/major dungeon, 2-3 small
dungeons, and 1 maybe 2 secret dungeons. The main dungeon
is the place you need to go if you want to beat the
map, the others are optional and provide extra tools,
armor, items, and weapons that may or may not
help you on your quest.

I added a few custom trees into the map to
make it feel less like minecraft, and more like a real
RPG. The first tree you notice as soon as you get on the
island are the palm trees, once to start exploring the forest parts
of the island, you may notice large rain forest like trees.

Along with normal mobs, custom mobs can be found around the island,
and will drop special items to aid you on your adventure. As of right now,
the exact number of custom mobs I have planned is unknown, once I
get that number, I will be sure to add it in this description.

Mob Name: Witch Doctor Location: The surface Drops: ???? Health: ???? Hostility: Hostile
Mob Name: The Iron Gunner Location: Your pirate ship Drops: ???? Health: 150 [75 Hearts] Hostility: Neutral
Mob Name: Herbert The Pig Location: Your pirate ship Drops: !!!! Health: 10 [5 Hearts] Hostility: Friendly
Mob Name: Quartermaster Jackson Location: Your pirate ship Drops: ???? Health: 35 [17.5 Hearts] Hostility: Friendly
The pirate ship is the safest place to stay until you decide
to move onto the island, on the ship, you will find your
crew members that may or may not help you find the lost
underground temple.

I was revolving this map around the whole island. The main goal is to find the underground temple located somewhere beneath the island, and get the treasure, hidden in the END, guarded by the enderdragon.
You and your crew set out on an adventure to a cursed island that no one else ever dared adventure to. Once you get to the island you set out to build a dock to keep your ship at bay. But, you and your crew are low on supplies from your long voyage and must collect more supplies from with what is available on the island. Once you are ready and set, you begin you quest to locate the lost temple.

So I was working on making some epic loot today, here are some of the items I made so far.

So, today I was flying around the map, fixing some areas, and... I ran into a BIG problem with my map generation :/
I have been working on this map for far too long to let this stand in my way, so when it is complete, just...just...don't mind the random cut in half area that is in the sea lol.
Anyways... more updates on the map will be on the way, I have been working on buildings, dungeons, loot, and everything else that is needed for this map to be finished. So hang tight

Quick update on the map. This week I have been working on custom mobs with custom loot, here is an example of what kind of horrors you can find around the island.
Mob Name: Witch Doctor Location: The surface Drops: ???? Health: ???? Hostility: Hostile
The witch doctor's live around the island yet only come out at night, beware of the bad voodoo that they may cast upon you. You may just want to stay indoors at night...

Today I was working on fixing the little problem I had from the last progress update, I am about 75% done fixing it and will post pictures of the fix as soon as I am done with it. Another thing I was working on was updating the thread by providing a lot more information about the features of the map, that's it for now.

An update to the last update, I was working on fixing up the patches of broken land due to a generation error with the map, I am halfway finished with it at the moment. The next thing I need to do is change all of the dirt, stone, gravel, and other blocks, into sand to match the rest of the map.

Today I was taking a break from the map to start making some "mod id cards" with some basic information on the many custom mobs you can find around the island. Here is an example of one of the cards. I also updated the thread to make it with less spoiler buttons.

I know this may be late to announce, but, I though I should still point it out as it is delaying the maps progress. Since 1.6 came out, some of the new features have messed up my custom items and made them look odd, I am currently working on redoing the items to counter this problem, so hang tight for a new progress update

This small update is about an early concept idea I originally had for the map. Originally I had had made a poem that would explain the story of the island a little bit, at the time I made it, it was a wip so I chose not to use it. I though I would share the abandoned poem because I did put some work into it.

Now than, first off, for about 2-3 weeks a took a small brake from the map to get some other minecraft related stuff done. This week I started working on it again and was working on some more custom mobs, and I am working on a level system for mobs. The level system will be something like this,
►Every level = more damage and health
►The max level = 25
►Every 5 levels = a new armor tier, and a stronger weapon for some mobs
At the moment this is my idea for a level system and may change over time.

Today I did a total thread overhaul! I've been wanting to do it for some time now and I finally got to getting it done. The biggest and most important change was the custom fonts pictures for all of the important words and phrases. Don't get me wrong now, I will still be updating the thread when I feel like it needs a change, such as more pictures and such, but for now, I am happy that it looks fancy & pirate like.

Since last Saturday, I've been working on completing my mob level system and I think I got it down to a science now, here is the updated list of traits;
HEALTH INFO
►The max level = 25
►Every level = +1/2 a heart (1 point)
►Every 5 levels = + 1 heart (2 points)
{So an example of a level 25 level zombie would have; diamond armor, a diamond sword, +30 extra hit points (15 extra hearts)}
ARMOR & WEAPON INFO
►Every 5 levels = A new armor tier (leather,gold,chain,iron,diamond)
►Every 5 levels = A new/better weapon for some mobs (wooden,stone,gold,iron,diamond) mobs like zombies & skeletons
BOSS INFO
►Some boss mobs (not all) are immune to knock-back
►All bosses will have +6 damage points to players (3 hearts)
►Not all bosses with have armor, instead they will have their base armor buffed
►Every boss will have some sort of level 5 buff applied to them
►Every boss will have a unique weapon or armor drop (Epic Loot)
►Bosses will have alot of health
►Bosses go by tiers instead of levels
►Tier 1 = everything explained up to this point
►Tier 2 = Can summon low level minions (5-10)
►Tier 3 = Can summon high level minions (15-25)
►Tier 4 = SSBF (Super Special Boss Fight) meaning they will be scripted
►Tier 5 = Information concerning this subject has been removed by {Unknown}
{Trust me when I say, you will not want to fight some bosses until you get the proper gear}
UNIQUE MOBS INFO
{Their are some mobs that will not be part of the level system, they will be considered loot mobs with high health, armor, and 50% knock-back resistance. So they will be sort of like mini-bosses.}
►Will have 500 hit points (250 hearts)
►Will have 50% knock-back resistance
►Will do 10 damage points to players (5 hearts)
I might add some more details later on to this post, but this is as far as I am going into my level system for now. Let me know if anything seems over powered so that I can balance it out later on.

So today I've been working on some items that can be either dropped by mobs, or found in chests, some of the items may or may not have any uses around the map. Anyways, here are some pics

For the past few days now, I've been thinking about some new ideas for the map to make it even more fun, and I've also been working on some Tier 1 bosses. At the moment, I got about 3 bosses completed with custom loot, health, etc, but I'm not going to provide any pictures of them for now, as I want to have more bosses done before I provide a picture of one. The last few things I've been working on includes; dungeons/mini dungeons, easter eggs, secret chests, and fixing up the pirate ship and docks to give them more detail.

Quick update today, I have been working on bosses and special drops for them for the past few weeks, and I updated the thread with a little surprise. A brand new spanken new picture to go with the post
It looks really good. All the small details showcased in the screenshots makes me want to try it :3

Thanks finally someone who thinks this map is awesome and the picture frames in the top left are from a mod called "Damage Indicators" once the map is done I will give a link to some mods and a texture pack to make the gameplay as rpgish as possible. The mods will be strictly client side not altering the map itself, meaning you could play with or without the mods
