Ok, so I was sitting in my laundroom yesterday playing some Crash Bandicoot 1, then some Crash Twinsanity, Then some Crash Bandicoot, Wrath of Cortex. I thought to myself, how cool would it be to just have one of these games playable in Minecraft? I then got to the idea of re-creating the first Crash game alone. I then went into a stupid creative mood, and after a lot of pencil end biting and asking around, I thought of an idea.
Crash Bandicoot X
This will be a full recreation of nearly every classic Crash game, the list includes...
Crash Bandicoot 1, Current Progression:
Crash Bandicoot 2, Current Progression: Not STarted
Crash Bandicoot 3 Current Progression: Started
Crash Twinsanity, Current Progression: Started
Crash Bandcioot, The Wrath of Cortex, Current progression: Not Started
And any other old platforming crash games I can think of (This does NOT include the Mutant games, as they are WAY too hard to engineer...) Impossible you say? Well yea, it is, unless of course, we gather enough crystals, er, I mean people, to help build this! I am also thinking, can we make this playable as well? Not only being able to look at this amazing world in a new way, but also being able to play it! If you think you can help and loved the old Crash games, Post an application set out like
Name:
Age: (Optional, I personally hate giving away my age)
Job your applying for: (Builder, Server host, or Texture Pack artist)
An example of some of your work: (If you don't have anything to show, the server host might be able to let you on for a bit to show off your building skills)
Contact details: (Optional, but stuff like eMail and Skype help a butt tonne.)
Aaaand thats about it, please, if you are interested, just post what you think, the support helps even if you can't help build. I myself will be mainly building as I am not much of a texture pack artist and have nothing suitable to host a server from, but I would love any help I can get. We mainly need a server host to get this started though, or the project will go bust :/ Just think, we could get as popular is the Middle Earth Server or something like that, now, stop reading and go post your thoughts! I can't wait to see people joining the team! (IF anyone does...) Have a great Day!
Ok, seems a few people have looked at the page, please respond if you like the look of it, it helps loads. Anyway, I am going to start construction on the warp rooms right now, so I have something to actually show...
Sounds like fun; Crash Bandicoot is one of my favorite platformers (thanks for not including the mutant games). I've played quite a bit Wrath of Cortex and Twinsanity (but none of the others); I know plenty of levels practically by heart.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
Yea, sorry about the mutant games, I just think the ability to ride mutants and create all the different types of them would be near impossible to engineer without mods, and I really have no idea on how to upload images myself..... Anyway, don't worry about pics right now, when we can get a server up you can probably just do a quick build to show of your stuff. Welcome to the team!

I didn't like the mutant games much anyway.
Glad to hear I'm accepted.

Yea, I will admit, the environments and some of the concepts were good but because of it we will probably never see a proper Crash Game ever again... It seems a shame that games like Spyro and Crash had 3 big games on PS1, 2 Big ones on PS2 from different developers then get turned into something that isn't even anything like the original any more .. Anyway, of topic, I've been doing a bit of a play around with textures and making the warp room, and it is clear we are going to need texture artists and some intricate builders pretty freaking fast. I can get the entire place set up easy peasy, but it actually makes me slightly nauseous looking at it, If you know anyone with such skills please let me know, if not, that's Ok. Should be able to get a server up soon, then we can get this party started (If you wan't to call it a party, if not, that's cool, that's cool....)

Sadly, I can't make textures (I don't know how to, with instructions I might be able to get the hang of it). I can build well enough; I'll test a few warp room designs in single player (it'll be the one from Wrath of Cortex).

Man, thanks for all of the help, this seems to be getting pretty popular, I mean, 98ish views? We are doing pretty good.... Don't worry about the textures, I might be able to do some myself... And I will do the Wrath of Cortex warp room first, I say first order of business is to get all warp rooms or the map in the case of the first crash and N Sanity beach when it comes to Twinsanity, and the first level to get a feel for the building style and textures. My friend Yuvin might be able to set us up with a only slightly laggy server so we can build together, and if you have any experience with World Edit or Voxel Sniper, let me know, if not, No matter, I have some experience with it... Once again, thanks for all the help.

I can use Worldpainter relatively well, although that's probably not what you're looking for. I just hope we get at least one more person to post.

Ugh, I know, I mean, 113 views and only one post from another person? Is everyone just sitting there eating Snickers? Anyone reading this, just post your thoughts, you don't need an application, just posting your support and ideas is enough. Worldpainter is essentially useless for this topic, but I myself love WorldPainter and would love to see some things you have made (I kinda suck at it a bit...) Thanks for the help yet again

Once again, if I knew how to post screenshots I'd be happy to show you. I dunno', maybe the community just doesn't like Crash Bandicoot? I think I have one friend who likes the franchise, I'll ask her if I ever get the chance.

Wow, definitely accepted, welcome to the team! The thing about screenshots is without a server it will just be us seperatley building junk, so we really need a server to get the project really started... Very nice building work by the way, it doesn't matter whether it is Crash related or not. Crash 3 Was definitely up there with the best, and was actually my very first video game. I might get started on something... May I suggest, since we will need some screenshots for this to get more publicity, choose anything out of the franchise that you like, from Crashes house to a level, and just try building it, if it turns out crap, who cares? We can then just use something like Worldpainter (Kynarus, might need your help with this...) to copy it into the full server world when that time comes. Thanks to everyone for helping, I really thought this would get no attention and would just crash and burn (No pun intended...) but you guys have really made my day better. I will say now though, I am having some renovations going on so I may occasionally lose PC access, and I am also helping develop a game so I may not always have time for this, but I will put a butt tonne of work into this as well. Good luck everyone!
Well, I for one loved Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped; and iirc I've got a playstation plus copy somewhere (and probably the PS1 copy, but I think it was damaged. I never really played the original CB, but I played (and still have) the 2nd and 3rd games, as well as Twinsanity and WoC, to which I felt was a tad disappointing (and had sold since).
Anyway, though, I may be able to help out with the 2nd or 3rd titles, preferably the 3rd my favourite of the series (and I'm unsure if my original copy of the 2nd still works).

Job your applying for: Builder, but I Can make texture-packs (see my profile); I'm not that great, though
An example of some of your work: Argh; nothing that's really that close to this franchise, and nothing 'amazing' that's complete, but okay:
Steampunk-style cathedral; a build for my adv. map (unfinished obviously). Texturepack is Victoriacraft - an excellent pack by the guy helping the project.
'Ferrodil Town'; again, part of this adv. map. Texture-pack is an unreleased beta copy of steelfeathers' skyrim-pack
A very-early look at one of the concept-builds for a boss for one of the larger-levels:
Contact details: practically everything uses this same name; so skype is also minihilly (but I rarely use it...; just PM me)
As for you guys not getting much attention: screenshots of progress would greatly help; else, it makes it appear you're just wanting people to do the work for you...
Oh my god, someone's actually replying!
Yeah, like Eth said we don't have anything to show just yet, and we don't actually know how to post screenshots... how do you post them?

Damnit, why are you two so good at building? I'll move that totem picture up to the main post, and I'll add a spoiler section to show of the rest of the pics so people have an idea of what you can build without having to scroll down. I have a live lesson now so I won;t have a chance to build till later, but I'll post some pictures later...
And may I ask, what are your actual names? It seems a bit strange just calling you MiniHill and

Lots of practice, analyzing what makes other builders good and using real life for inspiration (or in this case, other games). Well, I use my name on most other forums anyway, I suppose there's no harm in telling: Nyk (pronounced as Nick).

Well that is a pretty god damn good warproom and skin, looks pretty cool! I made a little mock set up of the first warp area in number 3, and I'll post some photos when I get home from education and such. Good luck to everyone!

Ugh, sorry I haven't been that active, due to renovations I am constantly losing internet and power :/ My examples should come soon. Anyway, I was having a look around and...
This guy does some lets plays of the original Crash games, so if you don't have the games we can use these as reference points. And the commentary is pretty awesome too, and if your someone just reading this go watch anyway, and tell him I sent you I guess? Thats what all of the cool MC forums posters say, right? Anyway, jokes aside, I'll be a lot more active then before now.
Thanks for the videos! Here's a concept for the drill boss from Cavern Catastrophe (Crash Twinsanity) and the Aku Aku powerup.
