I decided to start a Minecraft survival world and thought it would be a fun idea to share my experience and progress with you guys.
The difficulty I'm playing is normal and everything is done legit without any modifications or texture changes, etc.
Every once in a while you'll see me add more pictures to the thread.
When I'm busy I might not upload anything for a couple of days, other times (when I'm on vacation for example) you'll see me update allot more often.
It really does depends on how busy I am.
I hope I can inspire some of you guys to go play some survival yourself.
Any sort of feedback is greatly appreciated and keeps the motivation going!
April 9th - June 10th:
April 9th:
Front view (not finished)
Side view
Epic cow farm and Pink sheep farm (note that pink sheep are very rare in survival)
1st floor
My storage (tons of stuff inside)
Weat farm (when I get enough seeds, I'm going to cover the whole mountain up)
My mine (Previous shelter before I built my house)
Came across these guys.
April 10th:
Finished the new part of the house on the ouside, working on the inside.
April 13th:
Finally finished the house! Too bad the hill on the left is on the way, I'll have to take care of that later Also the mine was in that hill, I'll have to remove that too.
The inside of my house is still a big work in progress though, I will show you the result when I'm finished.
The sawa also got finished, it turned out great. The path on the sawa leads to my new mob grinder that is built in the mountain! IKR!?
The inside of the cave, where the drops of my mob grinder fall down. On the left and right you can see I'm growing mushrooms, this cave is a big work in progress.
Beautiful view on the sawa and the back of my house, turned out great.
I'm making a pretty good progress right now, at the moment I'm busy finding an NPC village and a Mushroom biome, I will post the pics when I'm done.
April 14th:
I've recently been travelling allot, trying to find an NPC-village and a mushroom island. When finding the mushroom island, I wanted to do something I've never seen anyone doing.
Arriving at a village after 2 whole hours of wandering around
Looting the village like a mad boss. (always make sure to loot all the bookcases)
Finding a sand temple while walking to the ocean.
After wandering through the ocean for half an hour, finding a mushroom island.
This is when I started my plan, it would cost me a ton of time, but in the end it will be worth it.
Finding the nearest coast to the island (around 600 blocks away) and starting to mine down.
Hitting the mushroom island after digging for a while. My plan from here was as following; I would bring the cows through the cave I mined to get to the coast.
On the coast with my moosh-cows, 3000 blocks away from my house.Ever seen mooshroom cows on a normal biome without mods or spawning them from an egg?
Travelling through all the different biomes and after 2 hours finally arrive home.
Temporarily hole I dug for my cows to be safe.
From now on, I have an infinite food supply from breeding these cows, it was all worth it.
April 20th:
I've haven't had allot of time to work on my world, even though I'v made some process. I've worked a bit on my mob grinder, outlined the lake and built a bridge.
April 27th:
I have been very busy with a variety of a ton of stuff, I've been constructing my house from the inside, I've made a blaze spawner in the nether, I've been gathering a ton of xp for enchantments on my tools, I gathered allot of music discs by letting skellies shoot creepers and I've finally manged to gather 3 of those damn wither skeleton skulls. I fight the the Wither when I get good enough enchantments on my diamond armor.
My enchantment room, work in progress.
The kitchen and dining room
My new storage room, I had allot of space in my house.
My living room and my doggies. I managed to gather allot of music discs.
My brewing room, work in progress.
All the new enchantments on my tools
Finally getting 3 skeleton skulls after killing tons of them, can't wait to fight the Wither.
My blaze XP farm in a nether fortress, original design by Etho.
April 29th:
I've been working on a glass tunnel that goes through a lake that is also built by myself The lake is kind of unnecessary but it looks very nice. The tunnel will lead to my new mine which I'm currently working on.
Building the glass tunnel on the hole.
Building a platform to put the water on top
Removing the grass beneath the platform by using farmland.
Finally removing all the grass.
Removing the platform with the water on top to fill the space.
Finally finished, pretty satisfied with the result
May 2nd:
I haven't made a allot of process lately, mainly because I fell in lava with all my diamond enchanted tools. I've been busy getting them all back with the same enchantments. Other than that, I've changed the mob grinder a bit, added a tunnel cave system that leads to the glass tunnel in the lake. I got inspired by Etho to make the whole cave look so natural and alive. I still have massive plans for this place so it's definitely not finished yet.
Entering the cave from the sawa's and walking through it.
May 4th:
I finally decided to fight the wither, I even recorded a video just for fun. Fighting the Wither was rather easy, I even brought my enchanted golden apple in case things get dirty. I ended up using two potions of healing, a potion of strength and a potion of swiftness. After fighting him I ran back home and crafted myself a beacon, the only thing left to do is find a nice place for it. Enjoy the video:
May 10th:
I've started working on my animal farm that I have planned for a long time now. I want it to be a long hallway with all the different mobs in the game, as you can see I have dug out allot and I'm not even half way through.
I will upload more pictures when I have more progress done. (Also note I turned off smooth lightning for better FPS)
Entrance
Cows and sheep to the left
Pigs and chickens to the right
A creeper who literally spawned in my house and blew up my door, I was really f****ing p*ssed.
May 11th:
Now that I've killed the Wither, I thought it would be a good idea to fight the ender dragon. First off I had to find a fortress, which I hadn't tried before simply because I didn't felt like it was important.
Anyways, after literally 8 minutes and 7 eyes of ender thrown I found a fortress not even 500 blocks away from my house. I haven't got enough eyes to ender the portal though, I will have to collect some more ender pearls before I go in to the End.
Finding the Fortress
When walking to the portal room I spotted this cool bug with the stairs in the library
Even more floating stuff
Finding the portal room, being attacked by silverfish is very annoying. I can't seem to stop the silverfish from spawning, does anyone know how to do this?
May 12th:
I've been mining allot, finding caves and even a skeleton spawner. Not long after that I already had my skeleton farm set up. Other than that I've been collecting some wood and working on the tunnel a bit.
I came across a mooshroom cow I left behind when making the trip from the island to my house. Since he doesn't despawn, he will keep wandering around in the forest for ever.
I've changed the tunnel a bit, I changed the ugly dirt walls to glass and will soon be removing the dirt around the tunnel on the outside.
It looks more thicker now, much better in my opinion.
Since the lake is man-made, I terra formed the edges of the lake a bit to make it look more natural.
Finding the skelly spawner and making a mob trap not long after that. (The mob trap is amazing for loot and xp, probably better than my blaze farm)
May 20th:
I haven't got the chance to play allot of Minecraft until today, so I decided to speed things a little bit up. I have afked at my skeleton trap for 6 hours and despite the insane lagg, I was able to throw a potion of healing and get the huge amount of drops and xp. I've also explored my fortress, searching for chests and the library and I ended up mining all the bookshelves with my silk touch pickaxe. And finally, I've created a massive skull on the side of the mountain, overlapping my lake. The skull isn't finished though, I'm planning on adding a cave in the eyes and mouth of the skull, vines covering the whole skull and mossy/broken stonebricks to get that Indiane Jones look.
Getting them mad xp.
Chain armor!
After 20 minutes of mining, it was all worth the 4 stacks of bookshelves.
Facing grandpa shrooms for the third time. He's the oldest mooshroom cow in the world and also the wisest.
My loot from the fortress.
The skull and the view on the exact same mountain, before touching anything.
The view on my house, before and after.
May 26th:
I haven't got the chance to play allot lately, so you might find this a rather small entry. I have worked on my basement, I'm pretty satisfied with it right now. As you can clearly see it's not finished yet, I probably going to add some automatic farms here and there, finish my mine and finish the walls and the roof.
Here are some pictures of what I've done:
Shot from the second floor.
Closer look at what's going to be my future mine, also be building some sort of mine base at layer 12.
Shot aiming at the spiral stairs that lead to the first floor of my house.
June 10th:
New: World Download as suggested by many people. (will add an updated world file every entry) I apologize for the lack of updates lately, I've been busy and haven't had the time to create something entry-worthy. Anyways, I've been working on an all new mob grinder that includes an automatic mob sorter. The mobs spawn in the 5 layers of platforms reaching the max mob count per chunk (I lit up all the caves in the area for max efficiency), fall down in a pit without taking any damage, get sorted in 3 different holes (creeper, skelly, zombie) and finally fall down in my mountain cave with half a heart left. Here are some pics during the progress I've made so far:
I started lighting up the numerous amount of caves in my chunk, I ended up lighting up 4 ravines, this one being the biggest.
Wandering through the caves and finding an iron root of 23 iron ores.
Finally starting to build my mob spawner, original design by monkeyfarm.
Second layer done, 3 more to go.
Two hours later, done with all the five layers, not finished though. I still have some redstone work left to do and add a full automatic mob storter. (still triyng to make up the best design in creative mode)
June 14th:
World download To start my mob sorter I knew I was going to need a villager, so I transported 2 villagers through the nether. The reason I transported 2 instead of just one is because I want them to breed so I can build a villager trade market in the future.
Other than that I've been caving, what I don't too often but I was running out of materials. I had a very good trip for the 3 hours I went caving.
Here's a picture of the villager being transported to my home:
Dug a little temporarily hole out for my villagers to stay in a breed.
Before I went caving I noticed there was a chunk error on the right half of my skull. These happen very rarely and can be a pain in the ass but luckily I had a back up.
When I was caving I managed to find allot of abandoned mineshafts and found these floating rails everywhere.
A mine track going straight in a spider dungeon, it looked so pretty.
A beautiful lava pool I found around layer 10.
All the diamond ore I found during my trip compared to all the diamonds I had before. As you can see I don't cave too often. Other than that I found 2 stacks of gold, 32 lapis ore, 8 stacks of redstone, 7 stacks of iron ore and 2 stacks of gold ore.
Afked at my skeleton trap, trying to get fortune III on a diamond pickaxe and finally getting it after wasting like 21 diamonds. I decided to place all my beautiful diamond ores and break them all at once.
The result = enough diamonds for a while.
Finding a huge open cave behind my skeleton trap that also happens to be a slime chunk! Profit!
June 16th:
After collecting ender pearls on a desert biome for a while I finally managed to activate the end portal. I immediately hopped in and started my battle against the enderdragon.
"You got the stuff?"
Just enough eyes to fill all the holes.
gg nub, lol reported
Build a bridge infront of my house
Build a blaze farm
Build a house
Build a mog grinder
Build a brewery room
Build an enchantment room
Build a nether wart farm
Find a mooshroom island and bring 2 moohsroom cows back home
Kill the Wither
Build a glass tunnel in a lake
Get a fortune pickaxe
Collect 2 stacks of diamonds
Kill the enderdragon
Build an animal factory for every single animal in the game + all colors of sheep
Build a nether hub
Build an automatic farm for every kind of plantable food
Is the house idea yours? because if it is amazing props dude! And try to find a mooshroom biome, stronghold, mineshaft, and a bunch of other rare things! Then you could maybe upgrade your resources to an iron bunker rather then a wooden floor mine!

I guess it's and idea of mine since I built it, the viking roof design has been around for ages though.
A mooshroom idea sounds like a challenge, I've already found a stronghold, mineshafts.
Other rare things I have right now is 3 wither skellie skulls to spawn the wither, a couple of music cd's, saddles and exactly 64 diamonds.
Thanks for the request, I'll try to find one. (I have never find one in my life.)
Pretty decent for a house. Better than anything I could do.
Also, I assume you mean pink sheep are rare in the wild. Not so much in captivity, since you can dye them.
You can dye sheep now?
Before I made this world I hadn't played Minecraft for a while so I'm a bit off with a ton of things.
I found these sheep in the wild.
Title: "30 hours of playtime"
Me: Hehe, 165 hours
Wait, do I have a life?
Yeah. It's probably because I kept my very first world from Alpha, all these years.
And unless your Minecraft hiatus was over a year long, you need to read the wiki more.
(Is it sad that I remember dyes were added in Beta 1.2 without having to look it up?)
So, yeah. You could have pretty easily just dyed a white or black sheep pink
Your world is pretty cool.
I guess I haven't played for that long of a time then.
But when you dye the sheep, will their babies be pink as well? Because mine are, from generation to generation.

I found these sheep in the wild.
Look in wide open oceans that are spacious enough to hold a mushroom biome. When i was loooking for one i looked at my map for a big ocean and found one right away.
and yeah sheep also grow wool back with the color you dyed it, so you can have a wool farm.
Definitely impressed by how good the house looks. I haven't seen people play vanilla like this (the old school way) in a long time. Nice work!
Trying to build the best thing you can instead of trying to "beat the enderdragon, because he's the boss and therefore after I beat him I win," is still the point of Minecraft. Just because "six year olds" (to use the popular culture term) are getting hyper about the enderdragon/wither dosen't mean that nobody plays the old school way - try to find an LPer that does something similar if you want to watch more of it.
Title: "30 hours of playtime"
Me: Hehe, 165 hours
Wait, do I have a life?
I have around 100 hours on my redstone world alone since 1.5 came out, and I didn't touch MC for all of spring break because vacation (consequently, I wasn't here either). I think your playtime might have gotten reset many times when you've been updating MC, because 165 is absurdly low for two years of play.
