(APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE IF PLACED IN THE WRONG SPOT)
Hello all! I hope all is well, and thankyou for taking your time in viewing my post!
Ok, so im thinking of making a map. However, I want to add color to the enchantment name. I wasnt sure where to place this topic, however, I thought it may involve modding. Sorry again if in the wrong spot!
So basically, when you change the name of a item, is it possible to actually add color to the name?
Also, add some text in the black box with all the enchantments?
A great example of this is in the Herobrines mansion map. The weapons have colored names, and have what class they are in at the bottom.
As an alternative: MCEdit + Modify Item Strings filter. After putting the item you want to change in a chest in-game, go to MCEdit, select the chest, and use the filter. You just type in the text you want, then select the color and formatting (bold, italics, etc.) from drop down lists, hit filter, and you're good to go.

This is the way to do it when customizing item names. It does not, however, cover changing the colour of enchantment names as far as I know. Unless formatting codes work on the id-TAG in an NBT editor, it is not possible to colour the enchantment name.
So here's the gist: You can customize the item name, and add lore(or tooltips or whatever you wanna call it) to it. But you can't colour the enchantment names.
If you want to use mapmaking features like these, you will have to deal with an NBT editor,
like NBTedit, NBTexplorer (which are external programs) or In-Game NBTEdit (which is a mod).
Search for these very useful programs on the forum.
Otherwise, I assume there is already an MC-Edit filter to do that.
Once you are aware of those programs, I'm sure you will have no problem to take a look into
NBT Tags, and how to edit them. This link can be useful: http://www.minecraft...ormatting_codes (color codes)
And this one too: http://www.minecraft...ayer.dat_Format (search for the display properties)
And of course you can find some very interesting tutorials on youtube
I hope this helps
(and sorry if you expected a step-by-step tutorial, but downloading an
NBT editor will be a good start)
NBT explorer is up to date. I used NBT edit, but after one use it had the common error 11, rendering the program useless.
