It's mostly good, but the block variation is excessive in the first 3 screenshots. The first too are OK, but the third one actually hurts my eyes. Stone Bricks and Stone Slabs generally don't work well unless it's in a pattern.
@Draco_Rogue
This looks so nice! What wool is it?
@Sylf_
1. Ya I'm not sure why I said that, I went back and looked at it and it's quite clear that was on purpose.
2. That colour pallete is so nice! Can't wait for your map! Only thing I can suggest is add more ambient lighting.
What a quiet and pristine library. I seriously doubt anyone would disturb my reading here!
Also: BROWN. Looks really nice. Especially like Draco_Rogue (can't wait to attack that.) Fun_Guy (Linear Branching? Sign me up.) and VICABO (Big areas? Potentially lots to explore, hunker down, and loot? I'm game.)
Anyway, I'm planning on starting a stream at 1. Here's a Strawpoll to vote on a map to watch me go through, after I play some minimap. Hope to see you there.
I started working on another mini map a few days ago, I just want some feedback and suggestions about what I have made of the map at this point. The planned layout of the map (subject to change) is below this:
Leyend:
Aesthetically done
In progress
Planned
Not Started
--------------------------
Spawn Area/White Wool: Decaying Empire
Intersection One: Veil Of Fire
Orange Wool: Garden Of Oblivion
Magenta Wool: Sanctuary Of The Ancients
Light Blue Wool: ???
Intersection Two: ???
Light Blue Wool: ???
Yellow Wool:???
Lime Wool: ???
Monument
Here is a screenshot of one of the areas. I was going to publish more than one picture but my internet is derping right now.
@_Dani_F: I like the idea. Just to know, can I replace *SOMETHING* with *SMURF*, it just sounds more Belgian to my ears
@Fangride: Yeah! Such an amazing start! BTW, he recorded episode 2 today^^ If I remember well, he said it should be out Tuesday.
@SabereXx: nice area, but I don't feel the theme very much so far. Why aren't the buildings connected to the water in a more obvious way?
@TechAnimation: the design is cool and the blocks you picked are good. But like Fangride said, the towers seem quite stumpy even with the bottom of the castle, maybe it's an optical effect and it doesn't look like that once in front of it =) Interior looked ok.
@Sylf_: Screen1 - I like this pit! It's clean & neat. Maybe some more fantasy ? What is the theme of this area?
Screen2 - I like it more than the first, the atmosphere is just scary and mysterious enough to enjoy whatever it may be that you're hiding in there! Nice colors.
@AcaranDeahtstorm: well, "The Last Area" of a map can be absolutely anything. In my WIP full CTM the last area is literally "a surprise" but not at all difficult and is in fact lunching the next map. Besides this if you meant the area where to pick the "last piece" of the Monument then it simply has to conclude beautifully your map and doesn't have to be the hardest part, but simply, IMO, the BEST area of the map since it's the one the players will most likely remember. Now for your 2 other questions, I believe not to be experienced enough to say smth.
@FunGuy_34: it looks good; but it seems to me that you like a lot "hanging things" =) (no play of word intended!)
@ViCABO: it's a quite big area, it looks ok to me, maybe too much ambient light for my taste, but it's just my opinion ;-)
@Draco_Rogue: your castle is really splendid! I hate void areas, but it just matches perfectly with the structure.
@Browneye414: loving the blocks you picked and the way you made the "fences" it looks so good! Also cool details on the walls. What dungeon is this?
@Aurabolt; hehe, thanks again for playing my Mini-CTM map =) Always a pleasure to see you struck by lightning repetitively and hugged by fluffy bunnies
@TheCarlushow: looking good, now it depends what's in this tower. Like Acaran said, if you went for this "Chronostasis" then it's great if not explain us a bit more ;-)
Gosh it's sooo hard to keep up but I think I did it And no, I have no screens of my work to show this time! Just some "fish" I found the other day in the distance. To me it looked pretty much like an Ocean Sunfish, maybe I'm just crazy...
Gosh it's sooo hard to keep up but I think I did it And no, I have no screens of my work to show this time! Just some "fish" I found the other day in the distance. To me it looked pretty much like an Ocean Sunfish, maybe I'm just crazy...
What about you ?
-snipe-
I think you should have some of the broken bridge in the lava if it's not that deep and the pillars don't look like they could support that much of the bridge on their own, perhaps some diagonal beams from the pillars?
Oh wow, love the waterfalls, gotta say. Nice place to jump too, if you need to get out of dodge.
Anywho, I think I'll continue my escapades from last time. More mini-map, and then I'll figure out what to do from there, based on the Strawpoll..perhaps something also loot heavy and exploration-based? I really need to think on it.
Hope to see you soon.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Hey there all. I stream CTMs as well as other indiegames, RPGs and more. Check me out: www.twitch.tv/aurabolt
Hello, there! It's been a while since I posted my announcement that I was making a CTM map, hasn't it? Almost a month. I finally found a mod that lets me use World Edit for 1.8, so I got back to work on it!
I also laid out this plan for all the areas I had mapped out.
Black and White
Cavern network, with only one connection to two middle and end-game areas. Coal.
Festival of Dreams
Giant festival; mostly completed. Balloons everywhere!
Obligatory Desert Stage
Hugo's working on this. Tell him to add Coal. (My brother.)
City of Mirrors
Primarily quartz with clay highlights, probably red and green being the most prominent. City hanging on the ceiling of the area. Void below. Ice roadways, probably. Iron built into the city design, maybe on hanging chains above the void.
You're an evil one, Mister Grinch...
Joke area; steal all the presents hidden in the Who village, then return them to a hopper machine. The wool is given once all the presents are obtained.
Moon's Haven
Moonhaven, but in Minecraft. Also clouds.
Rocket to Insanity
NASA-esque launch-pad. The wool is in the rocket being launched, as well as a teleporter to High Kerbol Orbit and back.
Tire and Ice
Racetrack area built to replicate portions of the Crash Tag-Team Racing area. I want to add fast swarm mobs here.
Fusion Desert
Desert base. Maybe Mars base sort of thing? Throw in a couple Tatooine references.
Ragnorak Proofing
Crumbling high-tech city. Ironically, the inverse of the name of the area. Iron.
High Kerbol Orbit
Multiple miniture planets over a massive lava pit representing the sun. Obsidian walls, with dotted glowstone stars. Diamonds.
Brain Matters
Giant brain made out of clay and wool, with bedrock and lava on the inside, submerged in water. Silverfish swarms here.
Peaceful Meadow
Grand Sundial location. Also a forest, and several rail lines to other areas.
Rainbow Falls
Tropical paradise, with pillar islands (think that one James Bond movie!) and rainbow falls using tinted glass. Limited iron, Gold.
Drive C:
Giant green fragmented cubes. LOTS of slime spawners. Center cube is reddish instead of green, holding the wool. Diamonds.
Simulation Failure
Lattice of netherrack, with computer-ish parts floating around. Make it look glitchy and broken. Massive fortress holding the link to the LOTUS ENGINE.
THE LOTUS ENGINE
Maze of the hardest death traps available. Tresspassers will be shot, drowned, bombed, burned, and buried. Survivors will be non-existant.
I also took a quick look at my map a while ago, and realized that Moon's Haven and Rocket to Insanity were supposed to have a connection, along with the Festival of Dreams, so I started building a cloud city in a corner. Here's a few shots of that, and the tunnel network that hooks that area up with the new intersection:
Fusion Desert has also been started as well. It's going to have a few Tatooine jokes, for sure. I took some images of the canyons I had laid down, as well as an overhead network image.
(Note: some of these areas haven't been carved deep enough yet.)
I built the intersection between Brain Matters, City of Mirrors, and Black and White.
And finally, Rainbow Falls! It's a jungle! Not cliffs!
This area was, believe it or not, inspired by a James Bond film. I think it was You Only Live Twice. The villain had a base located in a pacific island chain, I think in Indonesia, and the islands were shaped like massive pillars. I tried to replicate that, but slowly morphed it into this instead. Them rivers have laser piranha, too. The only thing worse than laser sharks!
(Note: dungeon nowhere near finished, and neither are the rainbow falls. More trees will be added later, too.)
Also, I drew up a map of progress so far on the areas. A bit pointless, but I thought it was obligatory.
My journey is coming to a close
It is a structure so the shape is a cyllinder if that's what you're getting at
Also new area:
H
Hyyypeee
Looks so good! Can't wait!
@ViCABO
I really like the shape of the terrain
@Fun_Guy_34
It's mostly good, but the block variation is excessive in the first 3 screenshots. The first too are OK, but the third one actually hurts my eyes. Stone Bricks and Stone Slabs generally don't work well unless it's in a pattern.

The Sanctuary Of The Ancients
Black wool. After that, a little testing needed and it'll be out
[WIP AREA]
Update: Here is what the castle from earlier looks like in the nether (lava and other structures to be added later).
Waaaaoooow, a lot has been posted!
So to keep things short (or not):

Hey Sylf_, I'll think about some beams but I really wasn't looking for feedback here
Just wanted to show the fun "fish" LoL.
Thanks anyway
!
Besides this like I asked, what is the theme of the "pit area" ?
hey all, it's been a while. Real life gets nuts sometimes.
So I planning on uploading my map soon but I want to tweak some biomes. Any good way to change biomes in late stages of map making?
Wow, over 150 pages went by since I last looked at this thread. I'm glad to see the CTM community is still very active. I hope all is well!
I post lots of #Srion dev updates and other MC stuff on twitter. @RedWingHamstorm
Just use the setbiome filter in mcedit while selecting the region you want to change
ah, ok. I'll give that a spin. thank you!

I'm a pixel artist who makes pixel things and maps! I also do line art occasionally.
I have two work in progress resource packs!
This is the second one!
And of course, by "work-in-progress" I mean "will never, ever be completed".
the castle still looks kind of bland. Maybe add some more detail to the lower sections. Alos, the ghast towers are extremely round.
