So I had an idea:
This is a ghast being ridden by a cave spider spawner minecart. When the player gets too close to the ghast, it rains cave spiders all over the player.
This will definitely be implemented into Cubic Horrors #02. Hope you rage enjoy!
Well we know where the CTM community meetup will be. There must be something in the air here that inspires mapmakers since we have 2 ctmers from the same city. Those things are most likely pollution and lack of sunlight.
Don't bother trying to read every page of stuff from here. It's not worth the effort, honestly. Days passed by in hundreds of posts back in the day, and a lot of them aren't worth reading (so many in-jokes). All you need to know is:
- There was once a guy who invented the thread who used to pop up every so often but I can't even remember his name/don't think I even talked to him properly. He seemed cool though.
- After him was Isaac's thread, and great maps were made. Drago and I were born (we turned up not far from each other, if I remember rightly) and lots of other stuff happened but oh my god that was like, 2 years ago?! Huh.
- Then someone who was Fanatical about Redstone decided to make a new thread because Isaac went bye-bye and I think I was the person to decide on the thread name but I can't remember and I like being humble. :3
- Then we all decided that it was annoying having one guy control our thread so we decided to do a communal account. At first the reviews were relevant and I made sure to keep the OPs I was responsible for updated for a while. But then things kinda just shrivelled and people lost interest.
- Loads of people left the community and came back and now only a few well-known "active" mapmakers remain and no map is ever completed and here you are! :D!
And every so often I come back, make people angry/happy, then disappear again because adult life is hard. The thread needs a revival and I'm glad someone's stepping in... but seriously, you know all about *me* now, so who are you? :3
Uhm, i think you forgot the most important development, i joined it and became an awesome LPer for like one year.
Also why don't I post here more often? Who knows...*returns to lurking*
Dude, who ARE you? Did you just claim yourself to be mod or so? I'd be happy to welcome a new guy to lead the thread, but you just kinda showed up out of nowhere.
@Infinity8miner, since when are negative enchantments a thing?
Btw, new guys, hi! I'm Rubisk, mapmaker, redstoner, mcedit developer and gamer. I live in the Netherlands where we have.... And we also have, urm.... and of course urm...
Hello, I'm Rock. I'm a CTM Let's Player over on the Youtube. Although I'm most well known for that I am also a CTM Map Maker and have released two mini CTM's. For some time now I have been hard at work on my first full scale CTM to be released. Fractured Realms. I also like long walks on the beach and snuggling with creepers. Oh, I also live in the states.

I guess I didn't introduce myself. Whoops. I'm an oldie, I made an extremely difficult map a few years ago, and just recently fixed it up for 1.8. ( http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/maps/1514883-ctm-cubic-horrors ) I just came back from a ~2 year hiatus and I'm currently working on a sequel to my map. My name is Matt and I live in Canada.

Alrighty, for those of you that want to know what negative enchantments do: so far I've tested them all, and the only ones that do stuff are the negative damage enchantments (although I haven't tested depth strider yet....).
Anywho, basically, negative sharpness=less damage, negative smite=less damage to undead, negative bane of arthropods=less damage to spiders. By doing this, you can have weapons that damage only certain enemy's (or do less damage to them), although you can do it also in other ways.

You got my hopes up for a rod of healing and now you destroyed it T__T
DINNERBONE! <3
Aimoskeeto, I kinda agree. It feels like the CIA jumped in to say "Hi, you guys did everything wrong, I'm here to say what you got to do now".
Hi AI. Like a lot of other people here, I'm a little weary of having someone new take over, but I trust that you can do a good job.
As for introductions, I'm Sketch. I've actually been here for quite a while (been lurking since 2011 and at least semi-actively posting here since early 2013). I started making my first full-size CTM back in April of last year, and it's VERY close to completion (as in, I'm testing it), but because of a busy first semester of school (I'm a high school junior in marching band, so that takes up a lot of time) combined with a crippling lack of inspiration, progress has been pretty much nonexistent for the past few months. However, I have made several smaller maps, including minimaps for three of the past four Strawberry Jams and a couple advent-size maps (maps that take a day to make and can be beat in 5-20 minutes, originally started by Xekaj).
Before getting involved with CTM, I made parkour maps. Most notably, I released "Just Jump" back in February 2013, which currently has over 230K downloads. Looking back on it, it's not exactly a map I'm super proud of (mainly because it looks ugly), but its success is most of the reason why I was inspired to continue making maps from there.

I guess since we are introducing ourselves, I might as well just tell you my life story.
I was born.
Then I started playing Minecraft.
Then I found Vechs. Shortly after he released Waking Up, I started thinking that I could make maps like him. I wasn't aware of this community at all and I thought I would be famous for being the first person to make a CTM that wasn't by Vechs. I realized I was wrong soon enough. Then shortly after Inferno Mines came out, I released my first map "Into the Dark" which I soon took down, along with another map "Engulfing Darkness" that I had made also. Then I finally came out on a streak and made Into the Storm, the first map in my Chimarian Memories Series. Now I have two maps out and a third on the way. I like to put a story which the player is a part of in each of my CTMs, which makes lore integral to my series. It hasn't really been implemented in my recent maps, but from my third on lore will be the explaination for everything in the series. I'm from that place infinity calls the land of the Bald Eagle Cultists or whatever he calls them. I started mapping in November of last year, so I'm approaching my first year of mapping. I'm kind of hyped. Infinity got me into this community after we met on a server when I was working on Into the Dark.
Yeah. That's pretty much all I have to say.
- Chipmunk
BTW, I didn't even expect to be able to write that much. I feel like infinity. <3
Also note to Drago/Fang/anyone else, what happened to letting members of the community be a part of the communal account? Would it not be better for people who've been here and experienced the thread properly for a while to be involved in it rather than one guy who's just arrived? Not saying that "AI" would be at all bad for the job, but has anyone else been asked?
Oh btw, Hi AI, I'm Aimee, also known as the one who always tries to control everything.
I agree with this, we need people who have been here for a while to run the thread, not a brother of a friend of drago's
And don't worry, yo. I'm still here and specifically running things! Al's around to help keep stuff organized, and I'm definitely on the lookout for more people to add to the team again, since most of us ended up fading into obscurity
So yeah, it might take some time, but give it time, get to know Al, and we'll see what else we need to ensure everything runs smoothly! Feel free to prod me if anyone has any additional questions.
I'm Baked_Applez. Call me Baked. Or Applez. Or _. I make maps, and watch LPs of maps. That's pretty much it. I run a CTM Server that plays through CTM maps, if you're interested. You can find the thread on my profile.
As for other things, don't ask me for opinions on anything, I'm not going to give it, due to reasons I do not wish to disclose, but just for the time being, remember that I WANT to give out opinions, but I can't.
WIP map "Rapture 01 - Lost Mines" is mine. Haven't reserved it yet. Please don't take it. Anyway, that's pretty much it. Now I can go back into the shadows and never come out. O_O
I still don't think we should have AI as a moderator. Don't take it personally mate, you may do it great, and I'm not saying you should leave as well.
I do think we need someone respected in here to help AI out and get an insiders viewpoint. Having an outsider is nice for attracting new people, not nice for keeping older. It will be hard to find one though. For example, I don't think I should be the one to be the 'insider', since I seem to have ran into issues with people.
If we DO pick an insider, importantest thingy is that everyone agrees.
Yeah, I agree with Rubisk. I think it is important to feel out for newer members. But, remember when this page first started? There were like 6 or 7 active CTM Community moderators. I feel like it should be opened up again. Maybe start looking for help in the forum, rather than in secret. I do not doubt Al's ability to work the thread. But I think it is important for the thread to have many operators, some new, and some old.
btw: I have been experimenting with a genre that may or may not be over used. I was thinking of it to be like an Open World "rapture" kind of modern apocalypse. This is just one of the builds I have made for it. My issue right now is constructing the city. Should I make individual parts and piece them together afterwards? Or should I make terrain and build a city on that? Or should I maybe make bite sized pieces of terrain and build on those? (you have any different ideas, I would be more than happy to hear them.)
ohai I'm Smeagolow, I don't post all that much but I've made a somewhat derpy full-size CTM and am working on a somewhat less derpy full-size CTM and mini CTM. I LP a ton, 5 episodes a week for like a year and I've got like a dozen full LPs on mah channel. GLHF with this thread, looking forward to some changes ;D
Alright, so it seems like I've had a bit of a misstep with this whole admin account thing. I'll admit, I was eager to hand the account off to someone just so I wouldn't be holding responsibility for it. I also didn't want to just disappear and leave everything on Fang. And then, of course, I disappeared when Al made his introduction and left everything to Fang... >.> Yeah, sorry guys. I should've said something before Al showed up.
For clarification's sake, Fang actually told me about Al a while back, saying he was interested in helping get the joint account back on its feet. Fang did mention this, but it looks like people glazed over it. We got in contact over skype and messaged back an forth for a while, and he shared with me some ideas he had for improvements to the OP. I was impressed and felt he was qualified, so I got the account ready for a newcomer and gave him the new password. Something that might've gotten lost in there is that I haven't just thrown the account away, and I do still have access to it as does Fangride, and we'll be around to give advice to Al and any future holders of the account.
So yeah, sorry for the confusion about this. It seems as though you're all in agreement about needing an admin who's more active in the community. I'm not inclined to remove Al, because he really does have some good ideas, but I am open to adding a few more members. Because of my recent inactivity from this community, I don't know many of the new names and personalities. Obviously I remember my old buddies like Rock and 8-ball, but a lot of you newer folks are strangers. Is there someone or maybe multiple someones you guys feel you can trust with the admin account, or who you feel would be a good fit for the position? I'm not in a place right now where I can sift through applications, so please don't flood my PM box! I'm mostly just looking to start a discussion about this, so we can move forward with finding some more admin team members.
(Side note: If you all feel it's the best approach, I can take applications for the admin position at some point, but not right now. I'm being kinda naughty writing this post actually; I've got a big nasty college paper that I need to finish up soon, eek! Once I've got that out of the way, I'll have some more time to invest in getting things around here running, but for now I need to hold back.)

Whoa Italy here too! We also have nice ancient buildings but they're pretty much all falling apart.
I've some catching up to do, I suppose.
