When I suggested that, I didn't realize just how cool that would turn out... Wow. Another cool thing, if I may suggest it, would be to use Sethbling's randomblocks filter to make some of the redstone glow.
Interesting, I might have to use this, are you saying you can sort of glitch redstone into an always on state? Is it something I can easily do with McEdit or NBT tag editing?

Glowing Redstone maintains its glow.
Actually, it can with the right process. It would be an absolute pain, but it would still work.
