I find that if you put to much stress early on in a map it makes the map less approachable. A good example was back when Legendary and Nightmare Realms were both ROM-HACK. Legendary was more approachable because it was relatively easy at the start while Nightmare Realms was not easy at the start in anyway.
That's true, I'll consider making the spawn a bit easier in v1.1.
Exciting news: I've FINALLY updated my map to 1.5.2. The reason it has took so long was because I've been tinkering with some of the area, fixing problems and design bugs and whatnot. So now is the best time to play it (if you want).

@Haon Loved the writing! Especially the references Next arc that would be cool is the player's view (finding what was left behind with backstory) or Hane's perspective. Take your time tho.
What are your opinions on texture packs? According to the Super Hostile thread everybody hates them, but what do you guys think?
I personally love them.
I like and encourage texturepacks, and I'm kinda frustrated when people think that a screenshot that doesn't use the default pack is automatically ruined. That's a very narrow view of things. I've gone from hating the default pack with a vengeance, to only mildly disliking now.

Hey Drago, is it just me or is there a weird, eroded line going across the picture, below your avatar?
@texturepacks: I love JohnSmith, Dokucraft (all though the brightness of the pack is misleading when playing CTM maps) and Wayukian.
I'm going to review the first 24 of 25 maps of Xek's Advent Series, however I'm going to comment and only rate difficulty, enjoyment and overall totals out of 10 to save me the trouble of going in depth about every one.
Teal is 8 or above, Green is 6-7, Yellow is 3-5, Grey is 1-3
Teal Maps -
Dancing Shadows Difficulty - 7.5 Enjoyment - 9
A short and sweet Null and Void, doomed to let you fall forever. Overall - 8 Archincarceron Difficulty - 9.5 Enjoyment - 7.5
This map will test your strategies and turn your life upside down, providing a great Fortress Assault that'll kill you many times. Overall - 8 Drowning Horror Difficulty - 10 Enjoyment - 7
Fog of Demise's twisted little brother. Prepare to die. Overall - 9 Overdose Difficulty - 6 Enjoyment - 9
This map tests many potion concepts for Syncquential, providing heaps of solutions to beat the minimap. Overall - 8.5 Sleeping Hive Difficulty - 8 Enjoyment - 8
This map utilizes Silverfish to their highest potential of killing you. The setting also contributes to the map very well. Overall - 8 Tectonicide Difficulty - 9 Enjoyment - 10
I might be biased here, but I LOVE running around for my life just for the hell of it! Be thrown metres into the air only to splat on the way down! Get blown up on the spot! Just don't stop running! Overall - 9.5 C.U.B.E Difficulty - 10 Enjoyment - 9
You will die. You will not find your way. You will not survive. But IF you do, make the most of it. Archincarceron's older brother from Hell. Overall - 9.5 Citadel of Entropy Difficulty - 8.5 Enjoyment - 9
A hidden gem amongst the rest, it feels pseudo-Black Heart, and utilizes the concept of ExplosionPower fireballs to break your only way in...and out. It also has its fair share of spawners that'll decimate you at any turn. Overall - 8.5 Redlight Reactor Difficulty - 8 Enjoyment - 10
Progressive upward dungeon assault that combines the mechanics of an adventure map with a CTM style. It loves to make you look down and realize your inevitable fate of falling. Overall - 8
Green Maps -
Sandswarm Difficulty - 7 Enjoyment - 7
A good challenge to the slow, and it is quite fun to dodge all the creepers. Overall - 7 Goldthread Lattice Difficulty - 6 Enjoyment - 6.5
Looks great, but the playstyle needed for it is very precise and very quick-reflexed. Overall - 6.5 Spiraled Floodgates Difficulty - 7 Enjoyment - 6.5
I feel like the size of the minimaps can't do this concept justice. It's like the snow area from VF2 really, it could be expanded to create something even bigger and more majestic. Overall - 6.5 Forsaken City Difficulty - 5 Enjoyment - 7
Speedrunning this map would rank up there with Spellbound Caves in enjoyment and precision. It looks great, but is too easy and short to do it justice, like the floodgates. Overall - 6 Hidden Shadows Difficulty - 8 Enjoyment - 7
It's a very long session of watching your step, which provides a continually frightening experience, but is let down by the plainness of the rest of the area, and could have had many more things including elevation changes and more tight-ropey stuff. Overall - 7.25 Inevitability Difficulty - 8 Enjoyment - 6
It was nearly there. The concept of grinding for life would have been much more interesting in a different environment, I think, but that is the limits of minimaps and a day, I guess. Overall - 6.5 Fireland Bunker Difficulty - 5.5 Enjoyment - 6.5
This has a lot of potential for lore and backstory in another map. I'd love to see this pulled off in a gigantic scale in a From ... map or another post-apocalyptic CTM. Overall - 6 Longfall Basin Difficulty - 7.5 Enjoyment - 7
Feels like an extension of We All Float, but that isn't bad. I have no real comments on this...try it for yourself! Overall - 7 Extinction Difficulty - 8.5 Enjoyment - 6.5
There was too much nothing around the map that sorta let it down. The content-filled parts are intense, difficult and convey the idea of extinction very well. Overall - 7 Emaciation Zone Difficulty - 8 Enjoyment - 7
Both wool are in strategic places, which combined with the element of the map make it difficult to find and look around, so a keen eye is needed for this. It felt like something I had played before though, but I can't pinpoint it down. Maybe I'll change this to Teal later. Overall - 7.25
Yellow Maps - Quagmire Jungle Difficulty - 5 Enjoyment - 5
Meh. It looked good, but it played pretty unbalanced. You just needed to grind the mobs with a single piece of armour. Overall - 5 Centric Elements Difficulty - 5 Enjoyment - 4
I didn't like this map that much due to the fact that it was easy and looked bland from the angle you actually played at. Overall - 4.5 Cycle of Creation Difficulty - 3 Enjoyment - 5
It was relaxing to walk around the cycles, but it was haunting to not get any challenge out of a ZM map. Didn't feel like a ZM map, and it was number 13, too! Lake Infernus Difficulty - 6 Enjoyment - 5
The gravel rings are too small. They don't collapse all together! In all seriousness, this was a bit poorly executed with the gravel stuffs and the "fire" theme which was a lot better thrown across in Fireland Bunker. Overall - 5.5 Overkill Difficulty - 9 Enjoyment - 5
Suffers from BDlol Syndrome. Overall - 5
A lot of these are just a simple opinion from my point of view. It would be a lot better if you just played the maps and saw for yourself, as they're only 10 minutes each.
I think we'll have to have a separate section for all of those instead of listing them with the other reviews, just because there are so many of them! Thoughts, everyone?
Like a minimap review section. I'm thinking short reviews that summarize the maps playability.
love you <3
I have all of the areas planned out, I just have to make them. So, quite well (and yes, I'm still *hoping* to get the beta out soon).

Oops, typo.
Well, you know what I mean
I personally love them.
I like them if their are really close to the default texture pack, so little changes and tweaks are something I like to play around with.

Also, I want a map that has easy access to good loot, but hard wool dungeons. Anyone know a map like this?
Oooh oooh LoDII is a great map to play!
self advertising ftw!
@Community Question: I would have to say Dreadsky Isles. It was very enjoyable, relaxing at the start but for the most part it's very balanced.
@Skeeto: I definitely think a Mini-map review section will be needed for maps like these. I just don't know how the formatting will go.
