I'm not asking for my name to be mentioned on every item people use my naming system on. All I'm asking for is a nod of recognition of some kind, doesn't even have to be referencing the idea of mine that they used. Witty adding a little note to his OP acknowledging me for the naming system was actually a bit more than I could have asked for.
While the system can kinda be seen as practical, it's also kinda obvious when someone is inspired from it (take MrRedstone's picture of the "Magic Stick" with the lore reading "Unique Magic Item" and "[ Level 3 ]" for example).
Basically, all I want in return if someone uses/is heavily inspired by something unique that I've done in my map is a mention of some kind, be it in the map, on someone's OP, or in an easter egg. I don't think that's too much to ask.
Again, you having an attitude like this kinda makes me sad. Comparing what you've made to what we're showing off, then only focusing on how bad yours looks compared to it isn't a constructive way of thinking. Instead of doing that, look at our pictures, pick out certain aspects that you like, then think about if/how you can implement them to your own creations. If you belittle yourself every time someone posts an amazing picture, you aren't going to get very far, nor are you going to learn very much.
To each his own, but IM is generally considered to be a bad map aesthetics-wise (unless you're a Vechs fanboi).
Block variation, if done right, makes all the difference to areas, but if done wrong, can look really busy, like you said. At a certain point, it comes down to personal taste. I tend to like my block variation to be coherent, and not completely random. That's partially why I'm not the biggest fan of Skyward Ascent (really sorry Krose!) The gameplay and level design look stellar, but I'm just not on-board with his decorating style. Too busy and rich for me.
Well that's because you're you and we'll be lucky if we ever see the day where Septium Immoriel comes out of its cave.
Hey Guys Ive just released my second CTM map Forgotten Crevice and i would love it if some of you checked it out, ive also updated my forum page to make it not look so ugly, i still need to figure out anchors though

Generally I'd say something like this belongs in Vechs' thread. Infrequent status updates are fine, especially if you're letting people know about a relatively unknown map, but progress reports about a map by someone big belongs in their thread, not here.
Community Question: Are there any sites or or places that you use as sources of inspiration for your areas, specifically landscapes? If so, I'd really love to see them.
For Dreadsky Isles, I really didn't look up too many pictures or concept art while making the areas, however, doing a quick google search led me to a couple pictures that strongly match my ideas I had while making everything, as well as what I'm thinking of for Dreadsky Heavens.
For Dreadsky Depths, I'm desperately in need of some concept art as inspiration for cavern shapes and styles. The few google searches I've done have brought up some nice possibilities, but I still really need more.
Also, is Dreadsky Depths just caves? I can't remember if I ever asked you what the full theme/concept was for the map. I know Isles is islands above ocean, and Heavens is isles above void, but have never been totally sure about Depths.
My plan is for it to be entirely caves, with a few kinda open-air areas. That's not to say there won't be variation in areas or that it'll just be a bunch of boring caves.
