Discordancy will stay as the map of the month until the end of this month because of reasons.
Added Vanilla Swirl CTM to the list of maps.
And finally a regular reminder:If you released a map recently (looking at you several mapmakers that did), don't forget to submit them for the Complete Map List (no, just posting here is not enough).
Hey everyone, I've been working on this mushroom forest but it doesn't feel right, something is missing.
Any advice?
The ground is way too plain. Maybe try scattering in some coarse dirt, mycellium, or stained clay for different textures. Something like a few mushroom blocks on the ground like fungal bushes might also spice it up. Also, I personally like putting slightly different blocks around the edges of lava pools; try darkening the edges of them with whatever accent block you use.
I was wondering if anyone could give me a short top-of-the-head list of more modern CTM maps to play, to get a feel for the genre again? I've heard of discordancy and am going to download it, but I was wondering if there are many other good ones that I should keep an eye out for and play.
Well, I just had pretty much the biggest scare of the century.
I loaded up my map, ready to do some work on it again, only to find a portion of my map chopped off. Clean cut.
Well, believe me, when I saw this, I pretty much died inside. That was the end. I looked through my files to find any sort of backup. Now, thankfully, I haven't done much work in the past year and a half on this map. A little here. A little there. I found a backup dated for the 15th of March, 2015. Now in that backup, there was lots of work missing over the time, but the work I had done on this map had not been in the corrupted chunks. So I can copy-paste the work that didn't corrupt, and rebuild other things I did want to change. And as an added bonus, sometime in that year and a half, I loaded it in the wrong version and destroyed all the items. In this backup, I had not destroyed all the items, so it helps me out.
May this be a lesson for you. BACKUP. YOUR. SAVES.
Didn't we have someone here, whose computer burned up and he lost everything?
Oh man, that sounds really bad.
One way I have found to sync up saves between both of my computers (desktop and laptop) while keeping them safe if something were to happen is to use Dropbox and symbolic links. (Link to the shell extension)
Basically, a symbolic link is a reference to a file or folder somewhere else on the computer. It may act as a regular folder or file, but it's contents remain in the origin of where the original folder/file is. Using Dropbox, I have my saves folder in my personal cloud, and have symbolically linked that saves folder to the saves directory in my .minecraft directory or my many MultiMC instances. Therefor, I can access all of my saves across every computer and across any instance without losing them to something like that. As long as I have an internet connection, that is.

Kinda happened to me, I had a little bit of progress for a next map, when my computer gave in before i made a backup, thankfully there wasn't too much done, only substantial things i lost besides that was an advent sized mini-map and my test world.

Hey guys! I've finally got some work done on Purgatorium (CM5)! I managed to make this little thing for my orange wool. It's supposed to be a swamp if you can't tell. Feedback is appreciated!

My only major point of feedback for the swamp side of things would be that, even with the water, the area looks oddly "dry". I think the lack of greenery and the overabundance of brown colored blocks would be the root cause of that, and some more green colors (and swapping the zone to a swamp biome) would do a lot of good.

First off thanks for the mushroom forest suggestions. I knew the ground was barren but didn't get any ideas for block. Now I have
So I am now on SHO. It is not what I was hoping for, but that could change. There is just such a hold on things. It is not very Minecrafty. Like you can't just make a pickaxe (wood maybe if you're lucky) You can't really do it your own way. I would like to have some cobble and wood with me when I enter a dungeon in SHO that isn't really an option. The resetting of the dungeons scares me there isn't any heads up. This could easily be done by having an item drop out of an dropper and let that despawn, what then resets the dungeons. By inverting the signal. A "Dungeon reset in five minutes" would be so nice.
In total I died twice. The first time I fell through the water into the void. Someone had dug a hole. The second time was an skeleton in a tunnel.. I don't mind 1.9, except the skeletons. Seriously.. Burn.
Something I also noticed is that it really is a multiplayer thing. Grinding can be done alone but a dungeon? You need people for that. I went in alone and I didn't make even really into the first chamber, there were just so many mobs and I also feel that zombies call more zombies more often in SHO??
First I didn't see the usage of a house. I thought my Enderchest would be enough. It wasn't so now I have an apartment in the green section? Number 322. The lock system is nice. All I don't fully see why Vechs needs his own commandblock. He could easily jump into gamemode 3 to enter these houses.
Ah, this is perfect, an excellent segway into what I wanted to talk about.
Hi, it's me, Aurabolt, again. I'm gonna post here along with this, because this is a good time to do so in my mind. Myself, and a number of the CTM mapmakers and LPers of this community, have started a guild on SHO.
This was mainly to not only get people interested and coordinated on Super Hostile Online, and to play it together, but to get some exposure from those who do not know the CTM Community, and would like to be a part-learn more, play more, get more people involved.
If you are interested in joining what I've called the CTMC, please feel free to get in touch with a PM. I could involve those with the discord, talk to other about joining, see what the other members think. I'm looking forward to having more members, and to also get more people involved in our little genre than ever before.

Hey there all. I stream CTMs as well as other indiegames, RPGs and more. Check me out: www.twitch.tv/aurabolt
Kinda sad to see that you're leaving, as you've always been producing some really cool work and been a great member of the community, but if you're losing interest, that's totally understandable. I wish you good luck in any and all creative endeavors you take part in the future.
That being said, you have no idea how much I've been looking forward to Nightmare Fuel I, so I'm really glad you at least finished that. Can't wait to give it a shot!
Edit: I've now played through the orange wool, and it's is very, very good so far. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us later in the map.
Time has passed and I'm not sure this game is for me anymore, so in the last few days I've decided to try my best to finish what I've started, post it here and say my last goodbyes, and I think I've been somewhat successful in the process.
I have finally completed and bugfixed Nightmare Fuel I and a secret, hard minimap I was working on.
Nightmare Fuel I took a lot of time, effort and immagination to get done, so I hope you like it.
It's a short ( <20h) and easy-medium difficulty map, so everyone should be able to enjoy, but the veterans should have quite an easy time with this.
So, without further talking, the downloads. They will also be avaiable in my thread.
All the downloads are for 1.8. I don't have tipe to update them and I hate 1.9 in general.
But wait a second... Nightmare Fuel II? Yes, since I don't plan on playing too much anymore, I want to give you guys the chance to draw some inspiration and just look at a couple of things here and there that I was working on.
There are signs with some information on what I wanted to do with the area, like mobs or the aesthetics in general... and while you CAN draw as much inspiration as you want, I would be happier if you decided to not straight up use my area, since if one day I decided to come back (Altough, this is highly unlikely...) I would like to return working on this.
And while I don't like the game nearly as much anymore, I love the community and I will still be here, lurking, so if anyone wants to keep in contact with me or as any let's play/question about my maps, I will be here to answer, with a private message or on my thread.
And if for some reason you like my work so much, and you just want more, you can find some tidbits of my style in a couple of Discordancy areas or in the next ProjectCTM map, Titan's Revolt, in wich I made an area and a transitional area, so you should be able to explore those as well by, I'd say, 2082. (But seriously, I would also like to apologize to the people of the ProjectCTM crew and my beta testers for disappearing many and many times, I'm really sorry and I understand it must be insanely frustrating working with someone like me).
But yeah. It's over.
This has been a wild ride. Thanks everyone for the awesome times.
I'm both sad and happy to finally see this post. You guys, Nightmare Fuel I is a spectacular map I had the extreme pleasure to beta test, and I urge you all to play it as soon as you can. I'm just sad we won't get to see another map from you Xhen, at least not that I'm expecting anyway. I'm just so happy to have been able to play Legacy of the Night and am so happy to have gotten to work on Titan's Revolt with you as well. Thank you for making something so wonderful and I really hope to see you around!
But seriously guys play these maps. They're excellent. Farewell Xhen!
Hey all. Sorry to hear that the Xhen is on his way out. I hope, that some day, you will return. Don't be too much of a stranger-we'll still be mapping or playing.
Speaking of playing, i'm putting up a stream soon-more Chipmunk madness is in store, and perhaps some other CTM-related goodness. Feel free to join me!

Oh, and you thought I forgot about the trailer, didn't you?
Might be a little late but...
Still can't figure out how to set it to HD but oh well...
Also my way to say sorry for failing to be a beta tester
A mini ctm in which the objective is to get to sky limit by
collecting three diamonds. Uhc mode is enabled, with an absorption
shield and natural mob spawns and mob grieving are off. There is a
villager trading system.

The ground. It's extremely dull. The single colors and lack of variation doesn't create much interesting to check out.

Was looking into the food mechanics in MC1.9 and found this video - curious to see if this would be a viable fix for the new mechanic?
Oh man, that sounds really bad.

A new map was submitted:
It's been a while since I showed off anything here, and since I got off of school a while ago, now is a perfect time to show some of my work!
Here is the Temple of the Arctic Storm:
See More:
This dungeon I would say is about half-way complete, I need to add more to the area and build some things to put on the floor of the Temple.
And here is the Heart of the Maelstrom:
This one has the aesthetic look all planned out - I just need to build the interiors and structures on the walls of the castle.
Any suggestions or feedback is appreciated!
I don't think you're an apprentice anymore, young one... You've grown so much since I've seen you last
