Comments: New to the CTM genre? This is a great map for new players to start on. It's a short, three wool map that is very well balanced. There is very little variation in block types (mostly snow and ice), but unique structures and the final wool's boss room look very good. My favorite part of the map is a creative and well done boss battle. Overall, this is a very good map for beginners and will only take a few hours at most.

As someone playing through the map right now, I have to say that Matt has outdone himself for his first map. The Fire Beneath, a ROMhack ++ map, could quite possibly be named one of the most brutally challenging CTM maps ever crafted. With a difficult beginning, you must scavenge the scarce resources that you find at spawn and continue the hellishly difficult assault of the map. With a difficulty curve to the moon, The Fire Beneath will give even the most experienced Minecraft player a sense of hatred and anger. You will have to use every tactic and cheap maneuver to complete this map whilst keeping your sanity. Surprisingly though, despite the difficulty and rage you will face during this map, it does have its own appeal. The map itself is based around the block netherrack, so there isn't much block variety, but Matt improvised and has created some well crafted areas in this map. Overall the map itself is a pretty fun experience if you don't mind dying every now and then to some cheaty trap or overpowered charged creepers. I recommend the map to those of you that want to have an amazing sense of accomplishment to play this map. But I warn you, it is only for CTM pros.
I nominate you for best reviewer I have seen, the way you describe the map is great, you give nothing away and yet I feel like I know what to expect. On a completely unrelated note, I'm off to play The Fire Beneath..
Thank you, I expect to do a bunch more in the future.
Super Hostile #10 - Spellbound Caves
- version 3.something, vechs'll never update it :/, game version 1.2+
- creator: vetchs
Difficulty: 4
Overall Enjoyment: 7.5
Comments: This map is Vechs' finest cave map by far, utilizing the 1.0 features well (Ender Crystals and easy enchanting) and has one of the smoothest difficulty curves out there. It's very well aimed at the beginners and provides a great challenge up at the final intersection, but gives plenty of time to look over some of the great areas. The gameplay is fun, and structured well with many mob elements to give the player some difficulty. For an easy map, it is great for all playstyles, and very flexible in terms of custom loot and spawner placements for grinders and such. You can run through the map in a mere 16 minutes or take it on with a large conquest for days. The lore is loosely there, but it makes appearances all the way through the map unlike Inferno Mines. All in all the map is a fun experience for any player.
Comments:
Spellbound Caves is an amazing map and an example of Vechs at his best work. While being slightly rough at the beginning, SBC is an overall easy play and well worth the time. With a very forgiving nature and plenty of resources beginners will find it a good place to start off with CTMs. Aesthetics are quiet good for a Vechs map but as typical does not match up to maps such as Vinyl Fantasy, or Inkstar. What it is lacking in Aesthetics, though, it more than makes up for in Gameplay. It has a nice variation in areas and each (generally) require different tactics to succeed. Vechs also makes good use of features added in 1.0 especially endercrystals, blazes, and potions. He also makes good use of enchanted items in SBC with plenty to be found relatively early in the game if you know where to look. Last, this map is quite good for people not looking for a long commitment, unlike some of his other maps (like legendary, or IM) this map can be beaten quiet quickly by an experienced player, even for the most derpy beginner to the series you will almost certainly have it done within 5 or 6 days. And a relatively experienced player could likely finish it in ~4 hours (for some much less). Now on to the bad parts about the map. If anything I feel that their are to many "free" fleecy boxes. Rumbling caverns (the first fleecy box), the library maze of blackened library, rattlebone crypts (both fleecyboxes), and Grove of the Weeping Willows are all almost too easy, it feels like they are being given away. So in conclusion: A good forgiving map, with an easy difficulty and short playtime. A must play for the new CTM player.

Also, we kinda have enough Spellbound reviews already, just for anyone who happens to read this and who might also happen to be wanting to write a Spellbound review up. I'm sure the next person to hop on the account will add your review, but you probably would have been better off reviewing another map.
(After I wrote this, I remembered that you said you just finished Spellbound in the SH thread, so it's forgivable. )
I don't know which area to make next.... hmmm... the dungeons, the labyrinth, the trench areas... I just don't know. I think I'm going to build the dungeons as they're closest to the area I just built...

You guys have no idea what I am talking about
Nope. And if you want us to be interested in what you're saying, dropping a bunch of meaningless names like that isn't the way to go. Instead of saying something casually like that in a manner that makes it sound like we should know what you're talking about, try posting a screenshot or two (can't remember if you have in the past or not), and giving us some area names to associate with them. Get hype building around your map, instead of simply talking about your map like you'd talk to yourself. It worked for me with DsI, and provided your map looks decent, it should work for you as well.
Exceedingly High Hostility Downloadable Area Expansions for Minecraft the Tenth, Magicspell Book-bound Large Caverns.
-Update in decimals 3.0, made for the most current Minecraft update in decimals, 1.5.1.
-Creator, the honorable sir Vetches.
General compliments: This downloadable area expansion for the game Minecraft amazingly utilizes the Not-Open-World-With-Areas-Coming-Off-An-Intersection style with great joy and excellence. Sire Vetches out-did his excellences in his previous Exceedingly High Hostility Downloadable Area Expansions for Minecraft, especially in the maps Extremely Hard Compared to Kaizo Mario World Large Cavernous Areas and Legendary. It uses many aspects of Minecraft, including building block-like objects, magicbound drinkable effect-inducing bottles of arcane fluids, tables of enchanting many tool objects including swords, axes, pickaxes, fish, signs, ragefell, shovels, bows, leggings, chestplate, helmet and boots, and utilizing dark magic crystal-like stacked on top of each other for bigger explosions crystals. It uses magical mobile monster creators (presumably powered by the evils of dark magic and Sire Vetches' ego) and exceedingly annoying grass-like plant-based climbable materials as a main aesthetically eye-pleasing material in the map. The structures are all beautifully made of slightly chiselled bricked stone and heated sand see-through panes. All in all, this map is absolute perfection on the highest levels imaginable, and needs to be put in many halls of fame and glory around this mighty Earth. Tally-ho!
Blight Castle
- Version 1.2 for Minecraft 1.3+
- Created by Thadiwyn
Difficulty: 5
Overall Enjoyment: 8.5
Comments: This map is a Linear-Branching mainly interior-castle-based map that has great loose lore and an adequate difficulty for any CTM player to have challenge on. Blight Castle demonstrates some of the iffy things about mostly interior castle based map but has a lot to make up for it, including an awesome Victory Monument and relaxing intersections. The mass amount of Stone Brick may not be the best thing to make it out of but a lot of areas have different block textures breaking it up including moss stone, wood, netherrack and end stone to create a wicked feel to the map. The difficulty fluctuates a bit within areas but it mostly stays consistent enough for the average player to die a few times. Traps make a considerable portion of the map up with the dickish TNT trap and a dead end killing the unaware people in seconds. There is a lot of custom loot to keep you going, most of them themed for the areas as well, so you can have a great experience playing them with weapons intended. The map has a loose lore that keeps the pace of the map going, and provides some very interesting outcomes. It's a fun map, and it demonstrates a lot about interior areas in CTM.

Hey! I like, run this... or something:
I have to say, I feel the aesthetics you gave it is a bit high. It's a good (very difficult) map, just not the best-looking.
Spellbound is SH #10, not #11.

Was going to say something similar - It's too samey, though Fear of Falling and the final Castle looks lovely.
You guys have no idea what I am talking about
hehehe.
Vechs maps that need reviewing:
- Sea of Flame II
- Infernal Sky II
- Kaizo Caverns
- Legendary
- Nightmare Realm
- Lethamyr
- Black Desert II
friendly nudge from friendly neighbourhood admin
Otherwise, keep the reviews coming, guys!

What other maps need to be reviewed? I have a lot of time this week because I'm on spring break. I would play UT2 but apparently it's broken...
Every other map.
