Hello all. First post on here, working on my own map, does anyone know where to start on creating custom items? I've always used All-U-Want, but with all these new attributes I need a way to do it in 1.9. I don't know what the command syntax is, so could someone let me know? Haven't been able to find it anywhere else.
Hmm. I've been trying to repair the town of White Wool in RC3, one bit at a time as I conquer it. Don't have a screenshot yet, but I've repaired most of the 1st layer and the bridge. Think this is a good idea?
Ive decided to start making a ctm map since im starting school holidays this week and ive had fun making areas for the community ctm map that died (R.I.P)
Heres a image of a area that im currently working on. Sorry for the bad render distance since it was on my friends server and the view was set low.
Feed back is highly welcome and appreciated!
Holy.... o_O
That looks fabulous.
I'm not even going to try tell you how to improve it.
Why aren't you a known mapmaker yet.
Really impressed to see this when I glance at this thread for the first time in two months
Have any of you noticed a lot of maps lately where the areas are just normal, not-too-hard areas, and then you get to the wool box and there's 86 blaze spawners around a moat of lava that you have to bridge across? Because that's starting to really bug me. I mean, I understand a bit of a difficulty increase at the end of each area, but not from Black Crystals to some-demonic-version-of-Pantheon.
So anyway, just curious about whether anyone else noticed this, and what your opinions are on it.

Hey Guys ! So I have a neat gameplay mechanic I'm thinking off. Basically the monument items will be easy to get ; but they will grant abilities that will be necessary to complete the area. For example , the first area , Eden Stones , will have lots of narrow bridges and platforms with mobs that have crazy knockback. So the monument item will prevent this knockback. It'll have no attacking power so you'll have to switch out. I like the idea a lot - But whatd o you guys think ?
Also I'm racking my brain for an intersection, so what are your favourite Intersections in Liner branching maps ? (Please post pictures of the intersections , I need the inspiration ! xD)

The only issue I can see with this is if the monument items are easy to get, whats the point of completing the area?

It sounds like an interesting idea, although the big problem would be that you'd have to really change the way your dungeons are made. Your dungeons would have to incorporate a one-way only entrance to get into the dungeon, and a similar exit to allow escape with the wool. Otherwise, what's to stop people from leaving via the area in which they just cleared of spawners and traps? Why bother doing a second after-area using the wool to leave when the entrance that I can also use to exit to the Intersection/Monument/Etc is already safe?
It's an interesting idea, but it'd take more work to successfully pull off (and even if you did such an idea, I don't think you'd want to do it for all 16 Monument Blocks).
On an unrelated topic, do you think that going into creative mode to retrieve items lost by dying to some stupid thing(like lag) is acceptable.
I say this because I just died from a creeper that I wasn't able to block because of ridiculous lag on Ragecraft 3.
I assume you're referring to "I couldn't move period" kind of lag where no response would work.
Usually, in my stream, I leave that kind of thing to the mapmaker's decision and ruling, if there was simply nothing that I could have done. In your case, I would suggest some sort of "cost" that your item retrieval was paid for-perhaps just one of the items is lost, or something else you feel strongly about would be thrown in lava...or because of the retrieval, you have enraged the area-which would mean turning the area to hard difficulty until you have managed to retrieve the wool and safely leave.
Nice looking, Chip. To me, the sea lanterns were an interesting touch-why not glowstone for lighting, for that natural cave feel?
I'm thinking of streaming-gonna heat up some lunch, order some dinner later, get to the game after some writing. Who's game?
I like the terrain. The lava pooling is weird, I don't personally like it, but others might. Other than that, there are a lot of obvious brush strokes in the area, including the points where the ceiling and floor connect, and on the top there. That's just my thoughts, though.
The thread is kinda dead now, everybody is probably plaing RC III. So...
Community Question: What type of areas do you like making most and why?
I personaly love making natural themed areas with lots of stone, grass, trees and streams or lakes. I love nature overall, I'm going to countryside often and many of my ideas come from it. For example I'm going to make an marsh area with small islands spread in a lake. Aspens with few leaves on the islands, birch trunks, greenswards and probably beaver shelters. It's actually a real moor area in Slovakia. I can't find a good foto though.
Interiors. I hate making exterior areas and semi-dislike caves, but the moment I can make it even remote urban or otherwise interior, I start enjoying myself more and more.

I love building terrain, but I hate making caves. I'd say my favorite kind of areas to make are large open areas above ground. Thematically it can be anything. I just love populating big areas like these.

I would say that my favorite areas to make are lush and colorful areas. I like to scatter hanging leaves on ceilings. I hate building structures that have an exterior, to be honest, they are kind of annoying to make. Sometimes I like to build interior areas, but mostly I like decorating caves that I've already hollowed out.
Community Question: What type of areas do you like making most and why?
I mostly enjoy building structures such as castles, houses, giant death fortresses, etc. I get to design the exterior of walls and supports as I see fit, and then create the interiors that fit with the outside space. It doesn't matter where it lays terrain-wise: it can be above the ground, in a cave or even in the earth itself for me. Just as long as I have the space for what I want to build or for what I have in mind, I'll be happy.

It does not yet, no. We were waiting a bit before making one, though it might be a good idea somewhat soon.

Hey guys!
I've been getting some interesting feedback from people about this area, and I was wondering what you thread guys thought.
Feedback is appreciated!
Oh, and a page get too! I'd like to thank the academy, and Fang, for not releasing Septum yet. Love ya bae.
Looks really cool, but I see some brushstrokes on the ceiling and columns.

It gives me nostalgia of waking up, keep that up.
