Guys, I think I'm back. If you don't remember me then you're part of the majority of the people on here. But I think I might actually try to make a map again. Also, is there someway to brush vines in mcedit?

You can use the forester filter for that
Plant on whatever material (usually stone)
make the branches vines
no leaves
set desired height
edit other stuff (density and stuff)
and that should produce the desired results
I can't seem to get my forester filter working though...

Is there any way of keeping the redstone ores lit up? I thought that the MCEdit ones will be lit up constantly, but they turned off eventually every time... Also if you are excited for more screenies, you can found them on my thread, which is in the sig.

Nice area but there is some things you can do to improve on...the ground floor looks nice with both of the clay together.... there should be a little blend between the stone and the clay instead of a big line dividing the clay and the stone. the walls could use another block to give it texture like andesite or gravel, cobble, etc. nothing to crazy. you can always add custom trees, ponds, village houses, vines, flowers and put some blocks there for resources... like hay bales, coal blocks, mushrooms, melons, pumpkins, etc. but that's only what i would do... if you don't like my suggestions don't fell obligated to use them.
Mk so, try to make the grass layer slowly transform into the stone on the walls. Instead of this sudden cut off that's way to high up in places. Vary the terrain in the walls so it looks less perfect, just push them in and pull them out in places. Yeah that's all I can say for now. Oh you could vary up the height in the ground layer as well, don't know how necessary that is though.
From what I know unfortunately there is no way to keep it lit up. But dayum, that's definetely a Xhen approved area. Who said you can't use bedrock for walls?!
Use grass?
Walls may need some spicing up. Also clay is a really bad block alone that doesn't work in most cases (Fangride told me that, but IDC I still use it alone #rebel) but yeah, stained clay for both walls and floor is a little too much. Grass.
In all seriousness though, I think the bedrock walls make the area seem sort of ugly. I would change the walls to snow and then have an extra layer of bedrock behind the snow wall.
Looks 100x times better. The more 'random' transition from the stone to the clay is really all it lacked in my opinion. Are the walls going to have anything on them at a later stage?
I really don't think bedrock looks good under any circumstances. I would change it to a snow/ice mix or even just make them uneven. I'm just not a fan of flat bedrock walls.

I don't care about the Xs. You can call me Navarog. Or Nava if you really want to be a hipster. It's fine.
Try using some dirt and grass plants mixed with both clays. Small bushes of leaves might look good as well as a few small trees (maybe use fences for the trunk).
But you need to work on both the walls and the floor. They look very bad. Try to erode the grass part better to give it more of a natural look and change the walls concept completely. Give them some interesting shapes and make them end at different heights in different parts. Also the valley looks too rectangular.
Then work on the block variation. I wouldn't use cobble for it since its quite busy block. Try mixing in some andesite and gravel. Make the line between the grass and walls less distinct and mix in some dirt in the walls near the ground.
Hope this helps :).
@coolmanik I like the feeling of the area. Unfortunately you can't make redstone ore glow forever, you'll have to hide some redstone torches in the ceiling.
I plan to erode that grass, and by walls do you mean the stone part or the clay to stone transition? If you mean the flat stone walls then I plan to "spice" those up. I am just putting down the bare minimum shape/outline and plan to add more spice later
Looks a lot better! I personally wouldn't use polished andesite in the walls, though, because it takes away from the rough effect. Normal andesite looks great with stone, though - I'd say include more!
Like others have said as well, the tops of the cliff walls are very flat. If you're not at the max build limit then try adding some height to the walls but make things a lot less flat - do some segments taller than others. If you are at the build limit then don't be!
The area as well is a bit of an arbitrary shape - try making the area a bit less rectangular by carving out some hollows in the walls, bringing out sections of the wall and by adding rock formations, like archways and mesa tops, into the clay bit. That'd make everything a lot more interesting!
I'll add more andesite, I like the look!
As for the walls again I plan to spice those up, though I am a bit of how I will spice them up, ima experiment and see what happens :3

Good Idea I'll try this.
Anyone else having problems with the MCEdit forester filter?
It tells me that it can't import it :/
If I put it in the missing module (mcInterface) then it tells me that an assertion error occurred and it still doesn't work....

I'm trying to terraform my starting area, any opinions/help?
I honestly think the block variation makes this look ugly, but I can't decide between lime/green clay for a grass color....
(and don't tell me to use grass....)
Oh hey. I remember you.
(Idk about the question, though)
I like it but maybe you can try to add block variation on the walls? Try to mix stone, mossy cobblestone and cobblestone.

I like the look
but that's not exactly what I am looking for.... I'm trying to make a grassy field without actually using grass
EDIT:
I took everyone's suggestions (mostly). How does this look:
Also that waterfall is brought to you by my good friend
I like the look
Black ops 3 Guns
Black ops 3 III Perks
I think it looks good but maybe weight it more heavily between one color or the other.
And the walls might look better taller and with uneven tops.

I think this area needs a little bit more SPONGE

Looks epic except for one thing:
