It might be something exclusive to adventure mode, but on the off chance it isn't, is this something that might be useful to you in CTM maps? Should it be used at all?

Oh man, I could give pickaxe to player and still not let him dig around dungeons.. brilliant 10/10 want now.

I can think of multiple uses for this:
1. A super pick that can't break spawners/ only break spawners.
2. A pick that can only break silverfish blocks (could be used as a detector of sorts).
3. A shovel that can only dig cheaty snow (snow layers, used as a detector as well).
4. Picks that can only mine certain ores (to make mining more convenient without giving the player super picks, even though I quite enjoy super picks).

I fear that if a tool can break many blocks, the lore would just push it down and you get a vertically wide list. Like this:

See i think this could work well. picture a diamond pick that could only break spawners. It'd let the player get a really efficient spawner breaker, that lasts a long time, but they can't use it to sequence break ore mining. This could also really help open-world maps where diamonds are obtainable too early due to the placement of one of the later wool dungeons. If you only let the players have picks that can't mine diamond ore until a certain point, that solves the problem. (this is a very unrefined version of this idea, i'm sure you could fine tune it to make it a lot better, i'm just mentioning the concept)

Maybe a huge vein of coal ore, and an efficiency X unbreaking X Fortune X diamond pick that only mines coal ore. I know this is really useless but whatever.
Wonder if they've also made swords be able to only damage certain mobs as well. You could give a player a sword that is super effective on skeletons but doesn't do so well on zombies, so as to nerf skellies without nerfing zombies (or the other way around).
I'm the only one who is even slightly concerned about something with this. My villagers are meant to trade items with different durability then what they want, so this may ruin my map :(. If so then my map will just be a 1.7.2 map.

hm, durability might be a problem for me too..
maybe an option to set villager to recognise selected nbt tags? So you could select it yourself?
Glitchy magma cubes with a ghast ON TOP of it.
Furries are cool.

Grass Block
Sand
Clay
Red Sand
But other than that, I like it.
