Well hello there CTM Community! I was lead here by the nice fellow above me, dragonsrule9. I need some advice/suggestions for a map I'm making which I may or may not complete. So, here's the post I put on the SH thread: To all CTM map makers, I need some advice. I'm making a CTM(it will probably suck ), and I need suggestions/encouragement. This is like the... hmm... I wanna say 6th/7th map I've tried to make(CTM or not), and I want to not give up. So if you have ANY advice, fire away. ATM, BTW, I'm calling it "Victoris Insulis" which is Latin for "Victor's Isles"(It's a bunch of islands).
Really anything will help, and I'll need some encouragement if I'm going to see this through...
A little bit o' info on the map:
-Find the wool, typical CTM
-Made the map with World Painter, it's actually kinda small... anyway I could make up for that?
-Scenery is pretty cool, but on some places it doesn't look THAT good
-Open-World, I find making a Linear Branching one hard, as I don't like to use MCEdit (It's got low FPS for me and I find the controls kinda awkward :/)
Welcome to the thread! I feel that, while the controls for MCEdit can be a bit funny to get used to, they're actually very nice when you do get used to them. A suggestion for boring terrain: try putting a few ruined buildings around, they make it seem really nice. I don't really have any advice in general other than that, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Thank you for the advice! I probably am going to start using MCEdit a bit more once I start adding custom spawners...
Also, I foresee many traps in my map... thank you 1.5! Muahaha trapped chests FTW!

I have to tell ya, MCEdit has become essential in my map making. I need it to clear out large spaces, and do things like custom spawners and easy copypasta. It'll really come in handy if you get comfortable with the controls. It is a little awkward at first.
So it turns out, full smooth stone slabs do NOT fix themselves from 1.4.7 to 1.5, and the version of DsI that I put out using them is borked in 1.5. Blegh, doing a super quick fix...

Every bloody CTM map series boasts that it's bigger, longer, and harder than other CTM series. It's almost as if it's a **** measuring contest. (bigger, longer, harder...)
So, about that stream tonight with the whole map making thing... Dunno if it's happening now (me and my cousin have something to start running!) but yeah, it will happen at some point!
I'll try to watch it.

Been making a few, but my favorite are the Flame Books...
Weaker zombies (7 half hearts) with speed 2, invisibility 1, jump boost 1, holding enchanted Fire_Aspect 2 books. They spawn in pairs, in library settings.
Also, anyone know how to change the color of leather armor with Kamyu's tools? It doesn't seem to like the Hexidecimal color codes I'm putting in for Blues.
I never really understood colored armor, so I can't help you there.
I do need a bit of help myself, though. Are the enchantments showing up as yellow text in 1.5 for any of you guys? By enchantments I mean "Sharpness I Fire Aspect II" so on, when they're applied to an object. I am, and it's kinda frustrating me, because the color for the name and description of the Palm-o'-Flame was yellow, and now it looks all messed up. :/
EDIT: Figured out it's an issue with TMI. Marglyph is working on it.

You can always manually change it with Sethbling's filter too
Hmm... it appears my computer is becoming less cooperative with Minecraft. Either it's got something to do with the incompleteness of Optifine 1.5 or 1.5 just has lower FPS... CURSE YOU LOW RAM! YOU STIFLE MY CREATIVITY! This will surely hinder my progress on the map... I'm still searching for one of the islands I made in WorldPainter...
Yeah, mojang is trying to make minecraft more compatible with slower computers, but some of the new features are making it worse...
Am I the only one noticing that some areas become really laggy for no reason? I mean specific chunks, where one second its perfectly ok and the next it just tanks.

Part of it may be that it is loading more chunks, once you reach a certain chunk it will load more

That's just it, the problem I'm talking about has nothing to do with chunks loading. The chunk just seems to be laggy, no matter how many other chunks you have loaded, what video settings you have, ect.
It's really annoying, but luckily the area I'm talking about is in a proverbial corner in my map. I'm just worried that the problem isn't from my side but the map's side, and that the players will have the lag too.

Yeah that's wierd, if I hear anything else I'll tell you

Ooh! I might have to check TCOMH out with that!

If that's required to play the map, then many might find it annoying to download a mod just to play, but your call. It looks cool, though.
Also, this place got pretty quiet, pretty suddenly. Iz scarin' me.

I believe it had to do with clouds, but then Jeb_ fixed it... also, *Minecraft's. Sorry, couldn't help myself.
