You know when you have a really cool idea for a map, and you start working on it...
Then you come up with a cooler idea and delete everything you made.
Then you come up with an even better idea.
Yeah, that's what's happening now. I don't like it.
Protip: Don't delete anything you build. You may find a use for it later, no matter what you were going to use it with before, or what you're working on now or in the future.
Yeah, Drago's right. I've found that a lot of the stuff that I think is total **** right then, I end up regretting that I deleted it, since my newer thing was even worse.

Exactly. For example, I gave this guy an area for a compilation map he was doing, and kept the file. I might use it in a later map if needed.

I'd like to know that too! I'm horrible at area names. D:
Honestly, I don't have a system, I just kinda come up with names spontaneously. Oftentimes I'll come up with the name before I even come up with the area concept. Though, if you shoot me a picture or two, and a short synopsis of what the area is about, chances are I can come up with a decent name for it.

Thanks, I might have to do that with my next map- I've already got all of the areas for TCOMH planned out gameplay-wise, I just have to work on the aesthetics and actually building it now.
So I searched Dreadsky Isles on youtube, just for the heck of it.
And found something.
Granted, he's a first-time LPer, and I did say something about no LPs until the final release, but I'm still really happy and surprised that it even exists! (If you don't watch the whole thing, at least skip to 20:54 and wait until he finishes reading the book. I have teh lulz.)
EDIT: Know what, I found another series by searching "Tales of Dreadsky" instead.

Thats pretty funny Most people just click download anyways so he probably didn't read anything about the no lps..

These guys are silly durps. :3
This is great! I'm glad that you're getting attention, Drago!
Oh no way man! They may have violated the no LPs rule, but it's fine. I'm gonna comment on their videos and let them know that I'm releasing the full version soon, and they can continue on that version if they want to.
Ok, pulling out the Map Signal here to call for help with my map!
Map signal:
Crap wrong signal!
As some of you know, I am working on a map. (Albeit the work is going very slowly)
In the map, there's an area that is themed as a city district. I need help from YOU peoples, by getting you to make some houses.
As far as theme...well just make Minecrafty buildings I guess, nothing too square though if you can help it. (like, it can be hard edges, just don't make a box please) The city is set underground, so keep that in mind. Its also old timey, so don't add like, computers or something.
Please no dirt hovels or just generally bad buildings that you put little to no effort into. I'm not asking for huge mega structures that take you six hours to make, but I'd like to get something that looks nice.
So yeah, the deadline is Soon™ there actually is no deadline yet, just kidding
Work at ya own pace, and PM me when you have a building for me. Dropbox and Mediafire links only please (almost forgot to mention that one) And have fun!
I find that a bit ironic, since I'm guessing most/all of the people on this thread are also making maps, and they are probably just as busy
It would be a fun distraction though, do you have any specific building dimensions?
No specific size, nothing too insanely large though please. There is no height limit really (but nothing that's like, insanely massive and couldn't possibly hold itself up realistically)
As for specifics, a mage's academy (Read: Not just a tower, an academy) I can make that one myself if need be but that's the only specific one that comes to mind.
That's a really cool name for an area! Tying something horrible and something wonderful together and making it sound that smooth is hard!

Thanks! I'm actually really proud of most of the area names for DsD, particularly the I03 and I04 areas.

Thanks! I'll be looking forward to it!

Now I'm off to work on more Dreadsky Depths.
Do you have any specifications for how big a building should be? Or do you need any buildings that serve a specific purpose?

Mainly i need residential buildings.
