This topic will be dedicated to my new adventure map that I will soon be working on. My last attempt at a map, The Gods of Arithgar, didn't go so well as my Minecraft stopped running for months, and I couldn't do a thing. However, I hope to keep this map alive and keep working on it!
I'll post updates periodically, about every week, telling what has been added (without giving away the story), and any ideas I have thought of. For now, here is the background story explaining the map that will also be included on the final topic upon release.
The year is 2,407, before the shatter of the upper world. Life in the small kingdom of Arithgar has been smooth and quiet for many generations, until now.
They were once thought of as filthy pests, and nothing more, but they have become a serious issue.
The goblins have emerged from their filthy lairs to eliminated the "primitive" Averians that live above; the start of a new war, a revolution, a new era.
A few notes on the story...
This will be one of (hopefully) three maps in a series, being much like the Elder Scrolls where each map is not directly related to another (as in there won't be a sequel, only a new map using the same lore, if that made any sense.) And the date would be considered B.C., the shatter of the upper world is not yet used to describe dates, as this takes place before the shatter.
Much like my idea for The Gods of Arithgar, races will take the place of classes. Players will select on of the main races of the land and use their racial abilities in place of a class. Here is the list of races that you will be able to select:
Averians- The Averians are of Elvish decent, looking like a hybrid of a human and a Tree Elf. They are decent archers, with steady hands and strong legs to maneuver through their forested homeland swiftly. They are fairly decent with magic, and tend to use spells that heal any wounds from battle.
Enchanted bow (Power I)(1)
Arrows (two stacks, 128)
Speed potions (5)
Instant health potions (5)
Leather or chain armor
Saevin- The Saevin are a group of surviving Dearlith, the equivalent of demons to most. They often practice necromancy, the art of raising the dead; however, being hybrids of the Dearlith and humans, they cannot fully control the risen; they must coax their enemies into striking their servants before they will want to engage in combat. They also are skilled with spells involving fire.
Zombie Pigman Spawn Egg (20)
Flint and Steel (1)
Dagger (Stone sword)(2)
Gold or chain armor
Humans- The humans have a small presence in Arithgar, however, they are widely known for their skill with almost any type of combat. They can use any weapon, from a bow to a sword, to magic.
Iron sword (1)
Arrows (1 stack, 64)
Instant health potions (5)
Chain or iron armor
Yhjisk (Yij-isk)- The Yhjisk are insect-like humanoids that dwell in the looming trees of Arithgar's Southern rain forests. They have small, dwarfed wings that can only speed them up on the forest floors; however, they strike fast, and have extremely sharp claws.
Diamond sword (1)
Splash potion of speed II (20)
Leather or chain armor
Players will be able to restock on supplies at towns and cities. When playing, please do not switch classes. You can if you want, but this is a role play map and it would greatly ruin the experience.
Thousands of years ago, estimated by some Averian scholars to be 6,676 S.U.W. (shatter of the upper world), the first humans settled on a vast landmass that is now know as the Farikel Empire, ruled by Lord Farikel XVII. The humans migrated East due to harsh living conditions in their old homeland, Gaiv, a tropical island packed to the shores with giant, tropical trees and wildlife.
By 6,623 S.U.W., almost the entire human population had migrated to the new land, which attracted the attention of other races, as the land had abundant resources and multiple habitats that suited many other races well. As few as 500 years after the initial human migration, many orcs, yhjisk, and goblin people had joined the humans and began settling down. By 5,918 S.U.W., Averians had also came to the new land, and other previous races had set up civilizations, and soon empires.
For about 1,000 years, all the people who had migrated to the land, known as Haavergoth at the time, had a time of peace, a golden age, where many breakthroughs were made. The orcs had developed many new ways of smithing armor and weapons, and were able to create sets of armor as hard as diamonds. The averians had developed potions, mixed from many different ingredients, and had perfected the arcane arts.
As soon as the golden age had ended, war broke out between the empires. This war, the War of the Ancients, occurred in 4,726 S.U.W. In the early years of the 17 year long war, the orcish army had the upper hand, as they were the first do develop new, and barbaric, ways of fighting. However, by the time the averians and humans joined in, the orcs began a retreat to their kingdom's capital, Guurak. The averians and humans formed an alliance, and preformed well in combat due to their wide variety of combat, as well as similar beliefs. The averians and humans soon won the war easily after the retreat of the orcs, taking over the land of every other kingdom on the island.
In 4,703 S.U.W., the year after the war, the averians betrayed the humans, sending assassins out to assassinate the human king, Julius Logeth III. The death of the humans' king sent an up rise of hatred and fury through the human population, and triggered another war, the Averian-Human war. The Averian-Human war, unlike the previous war, was very short and brief. The averians led the human forces into the southern reaches of their kingdom and into the Great Forest. They defeated the human army within 3 days, as the averians knew the land and easily weaved throughout the giant, dense forest. By 4,702 S.U.W., the averians had successfully captured every kingdom in Haavergoth. The newly risen Empire was named after the first averian ruler, King Farikel I.
Between 4,703 S.U.W. and 2,456 S.U.W., the land of Farikel was at peace, as the averian king had the entire island under control. Even the humans came to liking their new leader; he was smart, kind, and an excellent leader at war. There were many attempts to overthrow the king, often made by humans in the early years, and orcs later on. Every single attempt was stopped before the attackers could even reach the averian kingdom Eslyewr.
Another golden age of peace began, but soon ended very quickly in 2,407 S.U.W. Another attempt to invade and overthrow the averian ruler Lord Arithgar Farikel VII. The goblins invaded Eslyewr, enraged at their king. The years before had been harsh; the goblin people were treated like scum, kicked under the streets into the vast caves that stretched beneath the island. Nobody had any idea what the goblins were doing beneath the ground, as nobody dared to enter the caves infested with "dirty scum". The goblins had been mining through the walls that supported the giant landmass of Farikel over the Faerkith lava ocean that lied in the goblin's caves. The small town of Brightwood was right above one of the main supporting cave walls that held up a large chunk of land. The thin cave wall soon collapsed, and with it came Brightwood. The marked the start of the Farikel-Goblin war.
As soon as the averians discovered the operations that the goblins had undergone in mining out the caves, they were horrified. Not only did the goblins have very valuable materials that they used, with the help of kidnapped orcs, to make diamond armor, but they had almost literally collapsed the Farikel empire.
The goblins began flooding out of the tunnels, wave after wave of disgusting green bodies and razor sharp teeth. Nobody had though of just how dangerous the goblins had become living in the caves for so long. The goblins had transformed from relatively peaceful creatures to blood thirsty ravages that tore through wall after wall of the empire's men. In only one month, the goblins had entered the emperor's palace. They offered a treaty in which the goblins would take over the empire, and they would not kill the emperor, which to them seemed like an extremely generous offer. Arithgar declined the "offer", and was murdered on his throne. The goblins took the emperor's throne, and began to rule the empire, Kraakkav, also known as the Land of Stench.
From the end of the war to the S.U.W., things settled down in Kraakkav; the people ruled by the goblin king Gobilkon still had an immense hatred towards him and his people, but the goblins were unstoppable.
Many years after the war, the shatter of the upper world occurred, and sent chaos through the empire. The shatter was the result of a massive volcano in the northern reaches of the planet that erupted. The eruption was huge, encasing the entire upper half of the world in smoke, fog, and ash. Giant rifts opened up in the crust, and entire continents were pulled into the deep pits of Dearlithisk, the world where the Dearlith lords ruled. While Farikel was left generally untouched, the effects still greatly damaged the empire. However, the shatter also brought about good changes.
The only area that suffered the effects of Mount Tolffid was the underground area of Farikel beneath the goblin's main province. Gobilkon and several thousand goblins were killed by the event, which led immediately to the collapse of the goblin empire, in year 0. The averians quickly took back the empire, and continue to rule it to this day. The goblins, however, did not get completely taken care of by the shatter, and some still attempt to take over the empire from the averians, but now fail every time.
In the next few hundred years, the Farikel family continued to rule over the empire, passing the throne down throughout. Another era of peace fell upon the land. Many more discoveries were made, including the incredible ore known as redstone, and new means of transport brought over by a small group of dwarves consisting of tracks and metal cars.
In the year 657, one of the largest and most well known outbreaks occurred. An ancient parasite named the Xyephix broke loose from the ancient ruins of the Hvem, a once large, very intelligent race of elves. The parasite had been kept in the research laboratories of the Hvem citadels. The Hvem researched the parasite and its devastating effects. The parasite fed on the soft inner tissue of animals. It used long, thorned tentacles to rip into the host's body, and then turn them into an undead servant of the Dearlith lords. The process was very quick, taking less than 30 seconds to tear into a host's body and reach their brain.
This parasite ravaged the lands of Farikel, killing off many small towns, and severely damaging city populations. Hunting soon became almost impossible as the parasite also targeted other animals such as pigs and cows, which were abundant in the plains and forests of Farikel.
Over time, the empire recovered from the outbreak, and by 665, the land had been cleared of the Xyephix.
More to be added soon, telling about the years 0-2,000.
Also, a big thanks to the Creative server Blcosk Ahoy! for making this project doable. I'm now able to create massive, amazing land forms using Voxel Sniper, and use plugins to enhance gameplay even more! Look below for links to their topic and website!
More updates will be coming soon!
Sadly, for my first update, it's not a great one. I was planning to use the program WorldPainter, an excellent program allowing you to paint custom terrain, great for mapmakers. For some reason, it will not run at all. If you have a link to an older version (any version allowing editing of biomes, the version compatible with Minecraft 1.0.0) please send it to me!
