This question is so popular and is basically the common problem among mapmakers. The only think I can tell you is that your map must become popular, like REALLY popular before any Youtuber will consider it. A HUGE tip I will give you is to never, ever advertise your map on Youtube. People hate that so much, they instantly hate your map and won'y play it.
Basically what you have to do is keep at it and make a really good quality map and wait for it to get popular. If it doesn't, and you're committed enough, try again.

Some of my are REALLY popular! Some have 40000+downloads. Also PietSmittie played one of my maps. (They are kinda famous youtubers)Also please check out Parkour Hero by clicking on my Sig. If you do then please tell me if you think it is worthy of being played by them. Thanks!
Of course everyone's already told you that you need to have it be a good map, but unfortunately there is also a luck factor - You simply have to randomly have your map picked from the thousands that are out there with yours. Again, a good map stands out, but sometimes you just have to be patient and wait for someone to pick your map up by chance...

Luck involved, yes. Good map making, definitely. But the way you advertise is also key. You can't go on every forum shoving it in people's faces. Post it in the right section, give feature overviews, possibly a video demonstrating the map (if you yourself can record, a developer commentary really gets people interested), and definitely screenshots. Don't make the post too long or a wall of text either. Use bullet points or short paragraphs outlining features of the map.

My map is very great! But it only has 11 downloads..
There is alot of People who got the exact same problem. To get Your minecraft map popular is very hard, there is so many maps out there and the chanche of People finding Your map is very small! So advertising is actually a great way! But you have to advertise in a special way! Dont say something like PLAY MY MAP! MY MAP IS AWESOME! You have to say something like this:
Hey, I made a minecraft map and Maybe you would like to play it? If you dont like it, please msg me whats wrong With it!
This will give People a New feeling about Your map

I usually advertise in my sig, it's a un-intrustive way, but still very noticeable, and you spread the word by simply being active on the forums.
The more people that play and like the map though, the more people that potentially will ask someone to do a play through of it.

I have had ssundee play my map "who wants to be alive" so I can give you the best tips. 1 tip that worked almost instantly for me is the name of the map. If ssundee was scrolling through the fourms and saw my map called 100 ways to die (ssundee changed the name for his series) then he would instantly think, ooooh 100 ways to die, this looks really fun and I might try it with a couple of m friends. thecamelishungry was wrong about your map being popular for any youtuber to consider playing it. My map was probably at 50 views and 0 comments when ssundee clicked on it. It doesn't just take this for a youtuber to play and record your map though. This is where my 2nd tip comes in handy. If you have an epic screenshot of a unique minecraft design then the youtuber will almost certainly click on the link and download your map. Hopefully this comes in handy. The screenshot that got ssundee's attention
My problem is that I need testers for my map because if I release a map that has problems, who'd want to play it. However, not a lot of people want to help test a map. They'd rather play a completed map and I get that, but it's just really hard for someone who wants to get their map known.

I know we have a list of people we want to get in touch with once we open our main server, so we'll be going that route.

Achievement Get! Make a good map!
So I guess, like my more popular maps I should just wait until it is well known!
