Can anyone help ? trying to help my son download custom adventure maps on our MAC
been trying now for 2 days
We download the map
Unzip the File
Copy and Paste the file folder over ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves
there are already 3 worlds loaded we can view ......
We can see the map on the SAVES folder but
When we start up MINECRAFT the map does not show up the single player WORLD selection
First of all, rest assured that this is NOT a "Mac" issue. What the problem is for sure I can't say, but I've downloaded plenty of adventure maps and help my kids install them on their Macs, even uploaded them to our family server, and the only times I've ever run into issues is when the map depends on mods. Thanks to Magic Launcher (search the forum) those issues are basically a thing of the past as well!
My first thought is that when you are unzipping the map, perhaps the resulting folder isn't what you should move over. It may be a "parent" folder that contains the actual world save. The folder you move to the "Saves" folder should have things like "level.dat" and "data" in it. If it doesn't dig a little deeper in the unzipped folder and see if you can find a folder that has those files.
If this doesn't do it, PM me with specific adventure maps and I'll take a look and see if I can spot any other issues that could be a problem. I will be out of town for several days so I can't promise a speedy reply, but I'll do what I can!
Rest assured this isn't an insurmountable issue for most maps. You've got the biggest obstacle covered in finding the save folder!
when i download custom maps i go in the folder and then i see the REAL folder that you put in your save. the real folder should have Level.dat and other .dat files
good luck :)*the folder that you put in your saves also should have data files in it too.
