Welcome back, Fentom here! For the first time ever the makers of the Monarch of Madness now have PREQUEL planned, but it'll be done in a different way. I can't tell you guys everything or barely anything let alone even tell some of the staff members, but we've decided this is going to be a small group project in the result of some of the staff is no longer interested and we had to boot our old server host due to behavior issues.
The map is now officially going to be called the Prince of Paranoia and will be a direct prequel to the Monarch of Madness. In this epic adventure you will find out how the beloved Monarch gained control over his kingdom and lost his sanity! I can't tell you guys anymore as I am sworn to secrecy due to partnership with a publishing company called, "ThisIsn'tReallyAPublishingCompanyAndThisIsFakeTheInfoIsClassifiedUntilReleaseOfTheMapObviously." I've worked along side of this publishing company, and I see the project is in good hands as we the developers of the map are having a Jim-crackin' dandy time making the map for you guys and gals to enjoy!
I found it necessary to make a small update on the project here in 2013 although we really where shooting for the sequel to be done by the start of this year. We found out it'd be best to make it a prequel, and announce a couple of new things. Some of which is big news and small news.
One of which is that we've already found everything we need but a server provider. Another thing to note is that we will be putting out an official pack full of stuff for the map in one or a couple downloads, but fear not I'm looking into making the map separate from the other download(s)/extra(s). We do however want to make some announcements known.
Announcements:
#1: There are no mods that you will need to download for the map.
#2: There will be an official, and might I add recommended, texture pack.
#3: I may not be the one to deliver the map on this forum, but luckily I will be able to deliver it on the Yogscast's forum. Planet Minecraft's forum is giving a hard look at.
#4: I can't tell you when the map will be out exactly or if I can slip in any sneak peaks, but I sure can try!
If you guys do want to stay in touch with Darko, the staff, or I you can check out our channels over at Youtube. Mine being www.youtube.com/TheSniperWhoand Darko's www.youtube.com/DarkoHexar if you guys want to see me play any games for console in the future fear not that will be at my channel, still, I will make sure that the Prince of Paranoia is a priority!
I'm quite flattered anyone would go as far as attempting to make a sequel to my map! I myself wasn't planning on making a second one, because it was a lot of work for one person...
Indeed, although the castle's schematic comes from Revolvee, an excellent builder, and some music came from MusicalWolfe, a great note block artist, I was the only one working on the actual game world. It was quite tiresome. Rewarding, but tiresome.
If you want to try this project, go forth - I have nothing against it. I wouldn't mind helping you write or test it, because those don't require a powerful PC (something I lack as of yet). I could also promote the project on the map's thread to shed some light on it, if you think you can really manage to pull it off!
Also, be wary of Minecraft's changes while attempting map-making these days; the constant updates over the months could screw things up, or, to the contrary, greatly help the process. Books you can write in, for example, are a must at this point. That's why it's sometimes best to wait a little bit

Wonderful, if you have a server we could go on that'd be perfect, I've found a builder who's almost done with his replica. I'd love if you'd promote this so that we could get the sequal running. Writing and ect. would be perfect. ~SniperphantomO0

Unfortunately, no server on my side, I'm afraid. My Internet connection is already terrible as is, and as I said, my PC is a meager laptop that can barely run the game anymore. That's why the only way I could help could be outside the game and through forums, OR, if my PC's on a good day, I could potentially join the server mid-construction. For the latter, though, I can't promise anything...
I'd love to see that replica afterwards, but if there's one thing I can recommend, it's to not use the castle as a selling-point again. Putting it in the End would be a great choice, as I never tried doing that and I could see it working. However, people have already seen it being used twice, and so I wouldn't want it to be a one-trick pony...
That being said, I'll definitely promote this thread on mine! I look forward to seeing what a group of folks could do for a sequel

Sweet. Just write and do whatever you can so we can get it running.
Sweet. Just write and do whatever you can so we can get it running.
It's now on the topic, so there's at least that For the story, I take it you already have a base? I'd put major importance on one aspect of the story: keep the continuity. There's a lot of information throughout the Monarch of Madness, especially in hidden corners, like the cemetery, the courtroom(s) and in other miscellaneous rooms. I'd like it if that information didn't go to waste, and if it somehow connected to whatever happened in the sequel If you want to spotlight a different set of characters, go ahead, but it needs to have a connection to the original.
In fact, now that I think about it, Monarch of "Doom" doesn't really seem like a proper title... I'd go for a less common word. Heck, it doesn't have to spill the beans about what happens, while remaining ominous! That said, I only chose the title five minutes before posting the map-topic...

Right the Monarch of Doom just didn't sound right to me, anyways. I'll search around for a good title. I do have the base down, the Monarch has left the castle (and like in the map it gets blown up so really the Monarch had no way of restoring it that and possible laziness and lack of resources) and came back to find out it had been restored over time (the monarch left for years) by some new antagonist in which throws the Monarch in some sort of jail leading to it being a series of trials to get out of the underground prison. (I really don't see it being a long journey to get out since we have the Nether and the End coming in too) Some sort of plot device causes the Monarch to go to the Nether where Bogmire's castle is in ruins but yet it driven by an unknown darkness you find the source of the darkness happens to be in the End and then we're introduced to perhaps another villain or something that is going to threaten the world and/or kingdom. The rest is all you win ect. ect. and the credits with some sort of teaser at the end of the credits hinting to a possible 3rd installment ect. ect. the basics. We can tweek and edit the base and come up with ideas. Now if you have an AIM or Skype we could use for chatting not via voice but typing ect. that'd be great as I'm not in the mood for voice chat.

Sounds like a good basis, though whatever sort of jail is made, make sure it fits the theme of whatever the castle has become! Also, I had thought of the possibility for other kings and royalties of sorts having nearby kingdoms, so maybe that could be somehow implemented... I do like going back to previous places and finding them in ruins/differently, though. It reminds me of the relation between Portal and Portal 2, and that's a pretty good theme they got.
As for Skype and the like, I do have one, but I'm quite busy with homework and projects in the meantime... So this weekend, I'll have to give it my all. If I work quickly enough, I could chat it up sometime next week...

Sounds good. Other nearby kingdoms would be cool. The jail is going to suit the castle/kingdom. Is it yes or no to the ruins idea, I don't know if it was a typo or if you liked that idea. Anyways I'm trying to contact one of my builders, he hasn't responded yet and IDK how he's been doing with the new castle. Until then I'll try to get more people to help out on the project, and since I bet some people will be coming in to help with the project it should be easier. ~Sniper
At this moment I am sick and I have a cold. Please leave a message about the project as I will not be able to answer all of them because I am running low on energy and I can barely type. Thank you, t'lll be up and running again by the end of the week. At least I hope so.
I can help with building, but copying is not my strongpoint. If you want me to create other castles that weren't in the first map, then with help I could do 2 in a week or so.
That's great because we're not thinking about copying the castle. And I like to see some of your work before the team is assembled and we get to building and ect. ~Sniper
Hello I have watched the yogscast play monarch of madness and played it myself I thought it was excellent I would be very willing to help out in the creation of a second one whether or not it is made by the original
I can help you in any area of the map whether it is building or testing.
please get back to me if it is possible I can help.
The_Forgotten and I have been talking about the story and ect. and he will be helping on making the map. If you've had any experiance with testing maps please list the maps you've tested and for building I need to see an example of your work before I gather up the building team, and the others. ~Sniper
Well if you can't find someone to host a server for it you could resort to sending the map file around to each person helping (not a good idea if like 2 builders build different things in the same area, worth a shot though :/)
Have you had any experience building in Custom Maps before? If so state some of the maps you've built in. And what have you wrote for custom maps? If you've wrote anything for any custom map list the map and what you wrote. (I.E., Jokes, Story, ect.)
I could possibly help with the story line, as well as test the map, but i would wait until the editable books come out, that makes writing much easier.

I found that unnoticeable fire in the last one...
I hope this map can be even more epic then the last one!
(only problem is I don't have premium (money issues) so sorry about that make it offline mode maybe, wouldn't change much if its whitelist)

Sound's good, if I can have my server maker respond to me ASAP we can figure a way to make the server cracked or whatever it's called. ~Sniper
ign is grnmachine just in case server will be whitelisted.
