Yo yo! LPs are considered fine to post right? Because I'd like to introduce you all to my noob friend doing a lets play of my map!
The quality is pretty bad in the first two episodes but please stick around since it improves in episode three. Despite the quality he can actually still be pretty hilarious and I'm not just saying that because I know him. He needs lots of comments on youtube telling him how bad he sucks and I thought this would be the right place to ask help with that.
Just finished the final 1.3 update to my map! Now its finally out of beta and ready for the wide open world to play it! If you're a CTMer and enjoy playing an easier style map then play this one. Its got a wide variety of area's to explore, 16 dungeons to find and conquer, and a bonus challenge of 11 records to search for also. There are TONS of secrets and cool loot throughout the map and I really think anyone would enjoy playing this. Take a break from those super hardcore maps and have fun exploring a lost archipelago! Get it here on my forum page
Also would it be too pretentious to ask for a feature?

I know there's more great mapmakers I've missed. Just look on the front page and browse around until you find something you like.
Blight Castle is at the moment my favorite CTM map so far.
I hate the sandstone walls of pathfinder
I have not played Cutthroat Caverns, but it looks ALOT like Spellbound Caves, so some doubts from me
Did play a little of Moon II, wasn't a good impression, but only got to the Victory Monument so...

You seem like a reliable source. Play through the maps before you make some overarching b.s. comment.

Blight Castle is indeed excellent and one of my personal favorites as well.
Didn't like sandstone? really? I take it you haven't played Legendary then, one of the best CTM maps ever.
Cutthroat Cavern's is similar to Spellbound but only really in the first area. After that the only similarities are that they are both cave-themed.
Actually I never played all the way through Moon II either but I got a good impression from it.
You have your opinions and I have mine. But I would suggest trying out maps a little longer before you write them off.

I do admit I'm kinda unfair on Cutthroat and Moon II, but as for Legendary, I have played through it and didn't like it at all. Vechs' buildings are what ruin his maps for me.
That's what most people get wrong; completly square fortresses, no use of the other kinds of stone brick, boring, empty interiors, no fun.

Hey you know what, harsh criticism has its place too. I said it before and I'll say it now, try my map out then PM me and lay down the smack. I would appreciate it and if I feel you're unjustified then its no big deal. I'm completely serious right now
Dude, you're depressing. Instead of criticising us like that, try making your own map. You'll see how hard it is to do so. Legendary is in my opinion the best CTM map after Vinyl Fantasy II and they're some of the most fun and good-looking maps ever.
That's your opinion, and why do critics always get that same excuse? I don't need to make my own CTM map, I just need to have experience with playing CTM maps, and with that comes criticism for the maps that don't meet my expectations. It's not how hard it is for me to make my own map, it's how hard one mapmaker works compared to another.
Vechs no doubt worked hard on the pretty amazing terrain, but he could of took inspiration from pictures, other maps, anything, for his manmade structures. A bland, empty overuse of mossy cobblestone doesn't cut it.
I'm bad at maps like these, but honestly, so far this map hasn't given me much trouble (I don't have any wool yet, but that's alright )
The first area looks nice, but is a bit hard for the start in my opinion (when I arrived there were like 25 mobs attacking me simultaneously) After I settled down though, it was OK
Also, my map series just hit 4000 downloads! A lot of credits go to z_bill, who really helped kick up the downloads for my maps and tonix for his continued support and for the collab RFW we made together
Congrats on the downloads! I actually contributed to that number one time several months ago.
So I checked what you meant by 25 mobs right at the spawn and holy cthulu you were right! I didn't know what I did but for some reason they all really like to spawn right by the where the starting railroad ends. So I fixed it. I added way more glowstone on that side of the cave and maybe added some empty rooms near that area to ease up on the spawning. Then I did a run through just to make sure it was fine and it was! I then uploaded this new version immediately. The starting area is meant to be a slight challenge though(just not 25 mob challenge lol) so don't expect it to be too easy but as long as you just think ahead and look around you should be fine.
Also if you plan on continuing playing my map can we move this conversation to my thread?

You obviously got to the East Commons, thought it wasn't any good and gave up the map. You didn't give it a chance, the areas are quite diverse and you would've loved it if you stuck with it.

Sorry if my first answer sounded offensive. It wasn't my intention. What I meant to say is that you criticise people who give up entire days for making maps, so other people can have fun. But the way you say it makes it sound as if you've never played much except for the really known ones (vechs,...) But there are some maps which aren't as known as those, but which are about as good, like the Corrupt Lands series, or the burning desert. I agree that Vechs' Buildings are horrible, but the rest is excellent and fun to play. Mossy Cobble is a bit like Vechs' signature to be honest, so I think that doesn't count.
A map like Fallen Kingdom kinda focuses on buildings though.

Please stop complaining just because Vechs' buildings don't live up to your standards. Maybe Vechs doesn't always try too hard to make his buildings works of art because it is time consuming. Vechs gets a lot of complaints when he doesn't release his maps as fast as some people would like, and it would only take him longer if he tried to make every building a masterpiece, and in turn people would complain. His buildings aren't horrible, either. Maybe they aren't the best minecraft buildings out there, but at least they aren't just big cubes of cobble with a wooden door.
Also, Vechs is taking his time with Fallen Kingdom. He's been working on it for about 8 months now, and he has to make other maps in the mean time to hold over his impatient fans. He is not rushing Fallen Kingdom, and there are sure to be interesting buildings in it. If it ends up disappointing you, that's too bad. Vechs is only human, he can't adjust the map whenever someone thinks that something isn't as visually appealing as they would've hoped.

I am looking forward to Fallen Kingdom because of how long he has worked on it.
OH?! Z_Bill owns this thread? Haha!
I apologize I didn't "recognize" you earlier.
I'm only just REALLY reading this thread.
I come here representing a YouTube channel that is looking to play a good CTM for their first time. I can recommend the one's I've played, but wanted to see what those of you 'in the know' would say.
I'm looking to recommend some that have good visual detail, some lore or backstory in the map (or even dialogue), challenging encounters but not impossible, good pacing in between challenges.

Spellbound Caves, by Vechs. Good background story, quite visually appealing, and not too challenging, a little on the easy side.

Almost every map here has really poor visual appeal. Some of the few that do lack the fun gameplay.

Give my map a try, you might like it. But if that's not your cup of tea then I hope you've atleast tried out these maps
Tenebrous Tales by Thadiwyn
pathfinder elemental by ColdFusionGaming
Ruthless Regions by Amalon try the second map, the Cutthroat Caverns.
Twisted Logic by Kerblahh try his new map Moon II. It's huge
I know there's more great mapmakers I've missed. Just look on the front page and browse around until you find something you like.
