For now I've been AFK, but it appears that my cacti grow at a very impressive rate, soon I plan to cover my island with the spiky fences to insure safety, as well as torches as soon as I get more sticks. I discovered the underground cavern and got some coal and iron but the noises of zombies and skeletons during daytime frightened me until I can make something useful out of the iron.
In the mean time I wait for more trees and gather some wheat, soon I plan to have a larger farm and I intend to build an above ground house, but I will need stone and for that I will need picks and ultimately, I will need wood which is a highly limited resource.

Unzip the download, rename the folder to World#, whichever number slot you have open, and put it in the above folder.
Ok...no monsters have spawned at all at night. I couldn't find ANY coal...my start was terrible. I had mined out 80 blocks of stone and went fairly deep, but no coal. I'll try again, but so far, still no monsters. I'll try Hard, see if that helps with the monsters spawning.

Monsters won't spawn within 24 blocks of you or your spawn since the island is so small monsters generally don't spawn anywhere except underground and try mining underneath the X for coal it definitely helped me.

Difficulty does not affect mob spawn rates. It only affects the hit points of the mobs and the amount of damage they deal.

Yes. But if you rename your current world3 in your saves folder, you can rename it later and it will be the same.
Then it hit me.
I began to punch my damn way UNDER it.
ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH.
And I actually used my fists instead of a pick.

I was wondering why the arrow kept on growing bigger and bigger. And then it hit me.
