Thank you sir for your brutal honesty! I will use this information when creating my next map. I am sorry you got stuck at the warden fight I have come to realize that it is simply to hard to earn emeralds in the first area. This will not be an issue in my next map and I will more than likely update this map to allow for smoother progression. Despite your experience may I ask how far you got in the map? Were there any areas of that map that you did like so I can learn what is more appealing and use that information to improve my next map?
Also one thing... not being to picky here but your math is a little off... my score was 6.75 according to your system not 5.75... hey ill take what I can get lol. Thanks again!
The score was 5.75 because I wasn't able to continue anymore. I'm sure I would have found some more redeeming factors later in the map if I wasn't stuck at the warden fight. Good luck on future maps though!ff
The Ragey Stuff
This map is one clearly made by a beginner map maker with little experience in redstone, command blocks or minecraft architecture. It offers no motivation to continue playing the map and is placed below average.
Gameplay: [1] Gameplay is below average. I was not motivated to continue. Emerald score glitched. Skyblock puzzle cleared my inventory with the emeralds in it.
Enviroment: [0.75] Built on flatmap and map creator makes no effort to hide it.
Building Style: [0.75] Building style is inadequate and poor.
Enjoyability/Progression: [0.75] I was stuck at the minecart puzzle. Game over.
Originality: [1] A nice attempt but the map is boring and needs much more improvement.
I have nothing against unfinished maps. I will play it as far as progress allows. I'm making my own in progress map and I understand these kinds of maps could take a full year or several months to complete especially when attempted alone.
Of course there will probably be a minimal point deduction but the map creators should focus more on the explanation for the score rather than the score itself.
Ah, my bad. In the OP it said no beta, so I thought you meant you didn't want any maps in beta. Of course, it also said right after that no maps that require a version later than 1.7 even though we're on 1.8, so I'm not sure whats up with that. I hope you'll find the time to try it soon. Although, fairly soon I'm hoping to make an update that adds in the framework for level 3 and should have some pretty cool buildings.
BTW: @TheRubyGamer: You need to have a link to a forum thread about your map, not just the download link itself.

I might start being more selective in picking which maps to review now. I intend to review maps so they can improve and eventually build better maps but some of these maps seem more like a joke instead of a serious attempt.
I also meant to say no minecraft beta 1.5 maps. Stuff like that. I changed the wording.
The score was 5.75 because I wasn't able to continue anymore. I'm sure I would have found some more redeeming factors later in the map if I wasn't stuck at the warden fight. Good luck on future maps though!ff
I wasn't questioning the validity of your opinion... I was just confused by your scoring method. You gave an individual score for each category, which when added up equals 6.75.. my question is did you mean to put a 0 for progression instead of a 1? or did you take a point off the final score for you being unable to progress? I am just asking so I can understand this thread for future reference. I like following good review threads. Either way I am going to be putting an update out that will make the first area a little easier. If you ever become interested in re-visiting my map so that you can see the actual content past the first boss It will be available. I will let you know when I update it.. should be tonight some time. There are some unique puzzles and challenges farther past that point as well as more scenery changes and recorded sound clips that I think you would like. up to you though I can understand if the first part frustrated you to the point of not wanting to play it again.

All right. Thanks for the tips. This helps me with what I need to work on.
fancy ice gate. very cool!
recommend using tellraw commands instead of signs
first room could use some block variation. stone brick everywhere is a sore sight
story rooms are nice. they remind me of old rpg games i used to play!
i like how u told the story with glass panes. if it had tellraw commands then it would be even better!
i also plan on adding in the custom armor block chairs. nice
spawned in with creative mode? wasnt sure if it was intentional at first...
fireball attack is creative. rarely seen that before
funny wizard guy. i like the humor, it is entertaining
noticing that map creator is a funny guy.
i recommend using /testfor for automated player detection instead of a button
recommend using /tellraw colored text for dialogue. white text gets confusing to distinguish who is talking after a few minutes
terrain is ok but nothing too great
because i set my gamemode to survival, the shovel that only breaks soulsand can break dirt and grass too
i like the loot drops. it feels like terraria in a way
u used barrier blocks to prevent players from climbing the mountains and escaping!
building style is poor but everything else is fine so far
golems chased the enemies and got themselves killed. couldnt protect them
sunrise might be too long. feels more like a grind
locked myself in a building. waiting until sunrise :>
inventory is filled with black leather armor. spells not coming back
dropped one of the spells when my inventory was full. maybe reduce drops for armor?
spelling error in etherial keep it says "depost" instead of deposit
going into negative mana has bad effects but wont kill you. note taken
spell upgrading mechanics is fancy but visually it is poor
Sorcerer's Dawn is a unique RPG minecraft map that gives a nostalgic feel to those who used to play older RPG games on the Gameboy. The archetiture is nothing special but the redeeming aspects include the complex spell system and humorous dialouge.
Gameplay: [2.75] The gameplay in this map is unique but a little repetitive. I found myself using the wooden axe as a melee weapon than my spells which dealt far less damage. (At least in the beginning)
Enviroment: [1.75] The enviroment is ok but nothing to really praise. The trees are nice but overall the terrain needs more smoothing so it can feel like a real RPG world.
Building Style: [1] Building is rudimentary but it does get the job done. I enjoyed the glass panes as a way to tell the story.
Enjoyability/Progression: [2.5] It was fun in the beginning but it does get boring later on. Maybe it's just because it's late at night and I'm sleepy. But I do notice that the map creator has potential to make an amazing map.
Originality: [2.5] I do not typically see these types of maps on the minecraft forums. The spell system is fairly special and is original. Storyline is meh but it did give me a chuckle instead of the typical "breathing moderately hard through my noise" laughs.
Hey, I'm curious if you only do full maps. Basically, I have this minigame-type thing on my SMP server, and I'm curious if you'd be willing to review it if I put it up for DL.

Not much to say about this map. It was probably made in 5 minutes and required minimal thought and effort.
Gameplay: [0] Very little gameplay. I'm sure that I held "W" for a few seconds, pressed the spacebar occasionally then the map ended.
Enviroment: [0] No enviroment. Built on a flatmap with nothing else to offer.
Building Style: [0.25] No building style. The path was rounded instead of square so there's something worth 1/4 a point.
Enjoyability/Progression: [0.25] Not enjoyable but at least it was short.
Originality: [0] Plenty of these trolling humor SkyDoesMinecraft maps. Overdone.

There's a difference between a hero and a champion. A champion overcomes threats, but a hero overcomes fears.

Genre of Map: Parkour
Estimated time of completion of map: roughly 25 minutes

Thanks for doing these reviews! I really appreciate it.
Screenshots looks absolutely terrific! For sure going to play this one on the weekend.
However, can I play the map in 1.8 and how long does it take to complete the map?
I'll only have time to play 1 hour. I'll make a review off of a small portion.
I play these maps in singleplayer, by myself, with one player, only me.
So I guess you won't do a 4 man pvp map?
