Welcome to the Distant Lands, a series of maps with a bit of interconnected lore. These are survival CTM maps (complete the monument) where you must recover a number of objective to complete the map. While there is a small story behind everything you see, it's not a story told to you like an adventure map. These maps are designed with aesthetics and gameplay first, story second, hopefully providing an engaging experience through mechanics and the players creativity and skill.
My difficulty scale:
I balance around what I find to be enjoyable, which tends to fall on the easier side of difficulty. The best way to phrase my difficulty rating is "how easy is it to complete without dying".
Relaxed - Enjoyable challenge for less experienced players. A step up from vanilla minecraft. Moderate - Designed to be a challenge to both new players and veterans. Expect to find good loot to combat the tough environments and encounters. Difficult - Don't be reckless. Careful play and strategy will be needed to get through this environment.
Brutal - You'll die a lot. It's part of the process. These maps are difficult.
NOTE: Use a Vanilla server if you're playing any maps in multiplayer. Spigot servers sometimes interpret dimension files incorrectly, so manual adjustment of the nether and end files in the server may be needed.
1. Nether Breached Caverns
Ender Pelagic, a research facility researching interdimensional travel, had witnessed a disaster. Their Nether experiment had gone wrong, and now the subterranean caves have been opened up. With the dimensional link broken, going down into the caverns seems like the only promise of escape...
Minecraft Version: 1.16.3+
Map Version: 1.2
Map Type: Open-branching (lots of areas accessible at once, but not as open as a pure open world map)
- Replaced command blocks with spawners in Blue Wool area, making this area playable now...
Version 1.1
- Tried to fix issue with blue wool area. Unsuccessful...
Version 1.0
- Map release
Known bug with the Blue Wool:
A boss fight is supposed to happen with an Elder Guardian in a large underwater room at the end of this area. If it doesn't spawn you can cheat in a Blue Wool.
2. Starblight Desert
Work in progress.
Minecraft Version: 1.16.3+ Map Version: ---
Map Type: Open World Difficulty: Difficult Objectives: 16 wool and 7 bonus heads.
Strawberry Jam #32. Rekindle
A small map I made for the 32nd Strawberry Jam event, a 72 hour map making jam.
An icy valley was once home to settlers, fed by the warmth of a bird of flame. Those days have passed, and so have the residents of this quiet place. You awaken to reignite the flames of this land.
Minecraft Version: 1.16.3+ Map Version: 1.0
Map Type: Open World Difficulty: Difficult Objectives: 3 wool.

Hey! I wanted to try your map out but theres a problem.
I dont know if its on my end, but whenever I load the map, it just spawns me into an empty world. Tried using spectator mode to fly around to find something but theres nothing there.
Oh man I have been waiting for years for another solid series of CTMs, Vechs' Super Hostiles hold a special place in my heart. Can't wait to see more progress and give them a shot!
This Nether Breached map is so fun! My friends and I have been very slowly playing through this on my realm - we've only had a problem with the Blue wool so far
We broke the spawner before the boss could spawn in the last part of the Blue area and the fix command didn't work I took a fly around in spectator to see if I could find if there was command blocks to get the boss to spawn (and then spawned in an elder guardian myself) which didnt work so we had to give ourselves Blue wool for completing the area.
Glad you're enjoying! I'll take a look at that, the spawner should have triggered as soon as you got there but it must be not primed for some reason.. I'll fix it so this hopefully doesn't happen again.
Loved the map so far, but like Nel96 the Blue wool couldn't be obtained as we broke the spawners before the boss spawned and the command didn't fix the issue. I think the issue was that we primed the boss and then left the area which must have allowed the boss to despawn, we went and crafted the blue wool to complete the Monument. Very nicely designed levels and the story line was interesting. The only minor issues with the mob spawn rates was that certain areas had hundreds of mobs spawn at one time - collecting the Pink wool was especially treacherous with over 50 Wither Skeletons ready to knock you off the platform into the void (Ghasts shooting projectiles at you go), at the same time certain areas (Gray wool) took a long while to spawn mobs and retrieving the wool was fairly simple.
Overall, good variety and interesting Story - I'm sure the 7-8 friends who participated at one time or another will agree - only problem being the Blue Wool. I'm sure we'll play more of your CTM maps in the future when they drop!
Only Wools and blocks to collect now will be; Black, Brown, Green, Red, Iron, Gold and Diamond!
Completed the Nether Breached Caverns on Version 1.2 so we ran into the blue wool issue, but it's no biggie we enjoyed the area all the same. Great level designs with a just a few little details that could be improved.
As a group, it was felt that there needs to be more explicit detail on what to do with the Iron, Gold and Diamond blocks - we crafted them, although it was felt that to improve continuity they could be obtained through other means - Perhaps the Elder Guardian, Wither and Ender Dragon could drop them. The black wool is in a great place, but with this it leads me onto my next point. There needs to be more of a satisfying conclusion, after you fill all the spots in the monument then.... what? There should be something; explosions; teleportation to a room where you reveal the play testers etc; text on screen or in the chat; something to cap off the experience. We discussed and rated the map as follows;
Mowse, my friend and I just finished playing "Nether Breached Caverns" and we loved it. I love the old school vibe. It's very reminiscent of a Super Hostile map like Legendary, Spellbound Caves, Waking Up, etc. but it stands on it's own as an original. Very well done. Thank you.
I’m really enjoying this map up to this point, but I just got enchanting and potion brewing and iron everything (working on the few Diamond pieces for proper enchanting) anyway... I still haven’t found what to do with the flowers you get in the mushroom area, it says something about putting them in a stew to make potions, but haven’t managed to do anything about them to this point. Does it happen later on in the map? I’m already over half done, I expected to use those special flower potions before getting access to the "infinite" supplies from the same area the enchanting table is.
Glad you're enjoying so far! The flowers in the mushroom area are actually just a vanilla mechanic. The tool tip hints that they can be made into a stew. A mushroom stew. If you add a flower as part of your crafting recipe for a mushroom stew it makes a suspicious stew with a beneficial property. They're honestly not that useful... The regeneration one is the only one I ended up making in my own tests and it was okay, but you can only carry a few.
Playing the Nether breached caverns right now with a few friends. We only got the first few wools, but the map is really nice. Good areas, starting was super tough but rewarding once we got through, and everything is just nice. Great map.

Don't know what to build? Here is a "What should I build?" generator!
We've loved playing this map so far! Blue wool never worked even with the command block, but we soldiered on!
BUT, when we jumped into the nether at the portal provided, it only generated regular Nether - no CTM trial... We've mad it so far, but there's no course for those nether wools...

It might be that way if the map creator made the map in single player. See if the nether opens fine in single player. If it does, you may have to move the nether file in the proper location it should be while being played on servers.

hello! THANK YOU for this map, it's been an absolute pleasure.
having not done a CTM in several years, your definition of "moderate" was spot on. we (my fiance and i) do like to "play minecraft" during a ctm and are loving it.
we have just collected the blue wool, leaving green, red and black all we have left.
notes on the blue wool- we were aware of issues going in having read the posts about it, and were very careful not to trigger until we were ready, and like others it didn't spawn. we cleared out the guardians below, and on a whim, i started breaking the sea lanterns and bricks surrounding the spawner, when i'd cleared 3 of the sides it spawned immediately. seems to be on roughly a two minute timer, we waited it out and it did indeed spawn again.
which is weird, because looks like you do have it on a long distance spawn as he appeared pretty well into the main lower chamber, but the spawner didn't think it had room to activate.
hope that is helpful, thanks again for a super fun map, look forward to the next one someday ^^

Thanks for playing! Yeah, so it's a long range spawner that spawn in the room with I think a 90-150 second delay on respawning. It's supposed to spawn as soon as you get there. What has been happening is that is spawns in the chamber while you're above, and then despawns for some reason, even though elder guardians shouldn't...
