The delusion of things being more beautiful than they are.
What is Kalopsia?
Kalopsia is a work-in-progress Halo adventure map. When complete it will be an “open world” map, featuring a fan created story, focused on mystery and exploration. Taking place on a mysterious Halo ring, Kalopsia is rooted deep in the lore of the Halo universe. This map is in the Alpha stage of development and is available for download.

Frequently asked questions:
Some things seem unfinished?
This is because the map is under development. It is currently in the Alpha stage.
When will it be done?
I don't know. I'm only one person working on this huge map. As such I can't promise a timeline. I am very dedicated to this project and will finish it. I just don't know when.
You should add _____!
Because of the reason above; and because I have a specific story that I want to tell with this map, I will not promise to add anything. However, I do appreciate suggestions, so feel free to give me some. I might include them. I just cannot promise to.
Is there a place where I can follow the development?
Yes there is! I just recently launched a Tumblr page. This is the best place to get development updates and info as it happens. You can find it here.
Finally if you'd like a more detailed road-map, with live updates, I also have a Trello page. You can find that here.
Is there a resource pack?
Yes! There is a built in resource pack. It is necessary for the map to look correct. However because it is built into the map, there is nothing extra to download. Just make sure that you don't have any other resource packs active.
Did you make the resource pack?
No. I did make some of the textures, but most of them are not mine. The resource pack is built on a older version of Coterie Craft, which I was given permission by the creators use. I do not take any credit.
You may use this resource pack only for my builds. If you'd like to use it for anything else, please support the awesome creators of the original by downloading it.
Can I use this for ____?
No. This map is not to be distributed without my permission. If you'd like to use it for something, just ask! I'm pretty easy going. 9/10 times I will say yes!
The exception is, if you use it for a video, go ahead! No need to ask for permission. Actually, I'm looking for some people to make some videos of this map, so if you make one, send me a link, and I'll feature it on this page!
Do you take donations?
No. I do not. The reason I don't is because I don't own Minecraft or Halo. This is just a fan created project. But thank you!
If you do want to support me, just simply share this page! Tell your friends about it. That's more than enough!
[Major] Completely rebuilt the resource pack.
This was long overdue, as the resource pack was built off of an ancient version of Coterie Craft. Now it's much simpler and follows the new format of resource packs.
[Minor] Fixed and replaced commands broken by 1.13.
[Major] Replaced all stone used in Forerunner structures with Prismarine bricks, which also got a new texture.
[Minor] Updated a few of the structures, utilizing new blocks and abilities of Minecraft 1.13.
With this update Kalopsia is no longer compatible with any version of Minecraft before 1.13.1. Playing in any previous version will horribly break the map. Keep that in mind!
While this update isn't super glamorous or fun, it is important and I think exciting! The next update, which I have already begun and will hopefully be finishing soon, will update the actual oceans! So stay tuned for that!
Have fun! If you find any bugs or issues, let me know.
The next update to Kalopsia is now available for download! 0.80.1a is a small update focused on fixing a few grammatical errors in terminals and adding a few new terminals; as well as fixing a few bugs. I've already begun working on the next major update, which will focus on updating the map to Minecraft 1.13.
1. [Minor] Continued work on the exterior of the ring. 2. [Minor] Updated and reverted glowstone and sea lantern textures. 3. [Minor] Fixed grammatical errors in existing terminals. 4. [Major] Added a few more terminals.
Let me know if you find any other bugs or grammatical errors.
0.80a (Epitaph Update):
It's finally here, the Epitaph update! This one was kind of a struggle. Had multiple huge bugs, and then some computer problems. Add some real life stuff in there, and this update took a lot longer than I had hoped. But its here now!!
This is a large update, that adds some pretty important stuff!
Change-log is below!
[Major] Updated all of the beam emitters, bringing them more in line with the current design language.
[Major] Renovated the twin spires near the cartographer, also bringing them more in line with other structures.
[Major] Updated the crashed pelican spawn site. Adding bodies and some other details.
[Minor] Updated and added new textures to the resource pack.
[Minor] Updated existing terminals.
[Minor] Tweaked and fixed broken biomes.
[Minor] A few other bug fixes here and there.
[Major] Added a new location inspired by the Halo 3 map Epitaph.
[Major] Finished the lake inspired by the Halo 2 level Regret. Adding multiple new buildings.
[Major] Added the Lifeworker research facility.
[Major] Added the second set of terminals.
This one is huge. It adds a lot of new bits of the story; starting to reveal more of what is happening. More to come very soon!
[Minor] Added a personal log.
I changed the version number. Future versions are going to follow this format from now on. It just makes things a little more clear.
And finally I have launched a brand new Tumblr page. Check it out if you'd like to stay up to date on the latest stuff going on with this map.
I apologize this update took so long, but go ahead and jump in! Have fun, and let me know what you think!
Yeah, so it already has what I call a "hybrid" terrain. It basically custom terrain built on generated terrain. One of the biggest differences is that the map actually curves. It's gently curved like on an actual Halo ring; noticeably in the water. You can also see it if you look at the render. Near the ends of each chunk it's the most noticeable.
The next update to Kalopsia, 0.80.1a, is now available for download! See the change log if you'd like a complete list of the changes and updates. I've already begun working on the next major update, which will focus on updating the map to Minecraft 1.13.
Let me know if you find any other bugs or grammatical errors.
If you update the map to 1.13, you can add some really neat guns and stuff. :3 Cool map!
Thank you very much!
I am actually in the process of updating the map to 1.13. It's almost there, so hopefully I'll be able to post it in the next few days.
As much as I'd love to make a mod adding Halo guns and other things, I'm not going to. For one, I can't make mods.
But really the main reason is, I want this map to be playable for as many people as possible. Which means less to download and less that can break. Plus a mod would add a lot more work, and this map has already taken a very long time. So this map will always be a vanilla map.
That said, in a near future update I will be completely revamping the resource pack, and I will make a lot of weapons and tools look more Halo like; as well as adding a bunch of new mobs. So hopefully those will satisfy some of that cool factor!
The next major update to Kalopsia is now live! 0.81a is a major update that brings the map up to date with Minecraft version 1.13.1. While this update doesn't add much in the way of new content, it does fix the map after the massive overhaul to Minecraft that was the 1.13 update; as well as altering and updating some existing locations. This update also represents a complete remake of the resource pack; bringing it in-line with Minecraft 1.13. Check out the change-log for more info!
Is this a survival map or an adventure map, and I don't know how to get started?!
It is currently a survival map. It will be an adventure map when it's complete. Basically it's in "alpha" right now. I'm letting the community play around on it, simply because it's such a huge project and I have a lot of people waiting for it. Plus I can also get feedback this way.
Small update to fix a few issues that were not repaired when updating the map to Minecraft 1.13.
Mainly regarding a few doors, and part of the control room.
If you find any other mistakes or issues, please let me know!
