I have a question. how do you host a LAN server? it used to work until I got past the update 1.10.2. I really need help. I tried port forwarding but I can't do it. I can't log in and I really wanna play Minecraft with my friend. if anyone wants to know if I got a crash error then yes I did. if you need to know it let me know.
Why did you post this here? Did you mistake this thread for a new one or something?
Anyway, I'll help anyway. I'm assuming that you are connected to the same internet connection, but can't see your friends LAN world anyway. There is a way to work around this, but it is a tad complicated to do. I'm going to put it into a spoiler because of it's length, and it is off-topic
First, you need to find the hosting computer's IP address (It is often different for each computer, even though they are connected to the same network) To do this, go to your start menu (assuming your using Windows), and type cmd. Run it as an administrator if nessasary. Inside the command prompt, type in "ipconfig" without the quotes.
You should see something that looks similar to this. Write down what it says across from IPv4 Address (I edited mine out because it would be dangerous to share it, even though I'm not using the same computer I usually do.)
You should have hopefully wrote down the IPv4 address of whichever computer is hosting the LAN world. Now you need the port number. All you need to have for this is to start the LAN server. Once you do that, 5 or so digits will appear in the game chat. Write down these numbers.
Now, on your computer, write down the IP and Port in the "Direct Connect" section of the Multiplayer menu, with a ":" in between.
For example: IP= 312.53.7.10 Port:54221 You write down: 312.53.7.10:54221

thank you for that info but I've done that before. it doesn't work for me now. if you can find another way that that would be great. also no, I did not mistake it for a new thread.
and I still don't know why. my brother (who knows how to do it because he set it up when I went to his apartment) can't figure it out and neither can I.
I get a really confusing crash error that I can't fix. link me to the info once you get it.

Then I would just try running a server. I'm actually having the same issue right now with my new computer. Both of my brothers are trying to log in with my old computer and a laptop.

I've tried that too. it only worked ONCE. I know you might not have any clue after seeing this but I've searched for countless videos and none of them help me. I get a crash error which I'll show. the crash error is,
io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectionException: connection timed out: no further information:
I know it means that the connection is too slow to run on my desktop. but I've also tried to do it on my sister's laptop. but it doesn't work either. no one can help me out and I've tried on a desktop in my garage. port forwarding didn't work and I'm guessing you know why from my first question. but I guess Mojang will fix this if you can't since I've seen a few threads on here and other places about this topic.

So what does it tell you when you try to log in? Does it say you are in the wrong version? If so, you have to be in the EXACT same version. Or does it say the connection timed out? If this is the case, I discovered this:
In my internet settings, it thought I was connected to a public network, even though it was a private one. All I had to do was change my internet to private network, and the other computers on my network could connect to me. So make sure the computer you are trying to connect to has their network setting set to "private", because by default, if it is set to public, it won't allow other computers on the network to connect to you.
I posted this video last week, but I'm putting it here partly because of the little glitch I found on Pirate Lagoon (The finish line works on the opposite side of the wall, it happens at about 9:45)

ok, thanks for that. im not really a tech kind of guy when it comes to this stuff so I might just ask how to do so. it says connection timed out then gives me the error message that's provided above. link me to a tutorial or just show me how. ill be very grateful considering there are so many things I want to try that I need multiplayer for. also im not sure if im allowed to do that. but ill just try it once I figure out how and if it goes wrong ill just remove the changes I've done. thanks.

alright, I've checked if everything was fine and nothing. I've given up hope long ago and that hope is still lost. thanks anyway.

ok, so I've tried this thing I've found on a site that looked useful. I tried the ping test. it failed. that's the reason. and now that I know that I can finally try to fix it.
Alright, the "Lite" server resouce pack is now compressed to 13MB.
Also MKMC has been given a minor update (still v1.5.4) that adds support for custom music.
Guide for custom music:
In MKMC's resource pack, there are now 10 blank sound files that you can replace with whatever audio you want (no time limit).
Programs like Audacity (free audio program) are good for taking audio and converting it to .ogg format. You may want to turn down the amplification of the audio to match the other songs in the soundtrack (full amplification is LOUD in-game). If you want the pack to be downloadable in-game on a server, make sure the pack size stays below 50MB!
To activate your music in-game, check the level editor book. There's an area in the redstone where you can configure stuff (you need to set the song length!).
Here's some more detailed stuff about how to change what music is chosen on a certain track...
If you want your music to play on a certain track, make that track's redstone unit do "/scoreboard players set @e[name=w] bgmTrack 23" or whatever number value your music track is (the area where you configure custom music stuff will tell you the number). This will make the song you chose play every time. Not doing anything will make the map choose a song at random. If you're letting it choose a random song, you can blacklist certain music tracks from appearing randomly by making the redstone unit do "/scoreboard players set @e[name=BGMisolatedmind] radioType 0" (in this example, "isolated mind" cannot be randomly chosen as the music track). This also works for "@e[name=BGMcustom1]" and etc.
Hey, you know when I did that stream a couple weeks ago and the finish line broke on Sakura City? Yeah. That's not the only time it has happened.
I only notice it with checkpoint nodes, but every once in a while, they'll just suddenly stop working. Sometimes I do one lap, and it works, and the next lap it doesn't. Some of them have happened multiple times, like Checkpoint 3 of Laeto Forest, Checkpoint 2 in Fossil Cove, the Finish Line in Rainbow Road, and Checkpoint 2 in Rainbow Road Mirrored. (That one has happened every time I have played it). It can be fixed by using the node repair item in editor mode, but I never had this problem before the second patch of v1.5.4 (the one that added Waluigi Pinball).
I don't think it happens with item boxes, speed boosts, and stuff like that, just the checkpoints.

From what I understand, this issue has to do with armor stands having their chunks loaded and unloaded which sometimes causes them to completely lose their scoreboard values. This was an issue for me when I was making the main menu, as a certain area of the tutorial was just far enough that it caused the armor stands to quit working. I have no idea why this issue happens, I can only take measures to fix it (i.e. re-assign every scoreboard value to the entity). Luckily for me, they can't lose their NBT data (like their name) so I can always identify them (this is the reason "Node Repair" works).
I'll try and work up a solution to the checkpoint problem. It should be an easy fix, but it might be hard to test since I pretty much never run into this problem myself.

*EDIT*
This bug is now fixed. Hurrah!
Congratulations on fixing that bug, @Flamingosaurus!
I'd probably experience those bugs if I played the map enough. By the way, I think I've been playing this map on October, and the map is great!!
Keep up the great work, man. I'd love to see more updates to this awesome map. By far one of the greatest maps I have EVER played in my life. Not only that, but it also looks like a 1.7 map, but it's not. (That's a good thing), and also, I think I've been playing Minecraft since 2011 or 2012! So again, this is one of my favorite maps EVER on Minecraft!
EDIT: I know I just got an account for MinecraftForum, though.
I don't think I'm doing something right, I played battle with a few friends after downloading the newest version and half the time the item chests didn't appear. After some games one of my friends had their screen spazzed and had to leave and join...
I'm playing on 1.12.2 Optifine, What am I doing wrong?

Due to server resource pack size limitation (50MB), can you provide a smaller resource pack, please?
My bad, I wasn't aware there was a limit. I'll try and get the "Lite" version below 50MB. Expect that fix by tomorrow evening.
