I thought it could've been used on items like the pearl with looting 5 before i threw it in and lost it forever T-T
I don't think looting V books can be applied anyway, they get capped on the anvil. The pearl and others are secret useful items that you can uncover using the disenchanter as the enchants on them don't show till you scan them once. The enchant removal feature then only works if enchants are already revealed. I added it as a nice little way to get a bit of xp off an enchanted item before you recycled it or something.

Yes there are some custom areas in the first asteroid and in the ones directly around it.
Terrain damage does have to be enabled to get the random meteor metal drops yes, because the terrain destruction and crater impacts are part of the random system. However, there is enough of it in the custom areas you can also get them that way. Also, meteors intercepted by shield generators can drop meteor metals regardless of whether you have terrain damage on or off so install some around your base or other areas you hang out a lot near to give you a good chance for them. I may change this in the future so the random ones also have a chance but it doesn't work with it off right now...
That'd be great diamond_steve, I'll probably reactivate my channel soon to have announcement and feature reveals as I work on the map.

In your first year, Summer starting triggers a meteor shower right next to your ship, resulting in the part of the story line where you get stranded in the system. Every previous update made that particular meteor shower (minus the story) reset; so if someone played slow enough to never get to a second Summer before installing another update, they'd end up seeing a meteor shower hitting the exact same place at the exact same time every single year. Happened to me throughout the entire later parts of the Alpha stage, I never knew it wasn't supposed to happen like that until Dan mentioned it after seeing it happen in my video series xD Since it's supposed to be a one-time event, that needed some fixing.
Normal meteor showers that occur randomly Summer through Winter have not been affected and still get triggered by the same RNG mechanism as before, so no worries about missing out on those!

Awesome! Watched the new videos, glad to see everyone playing! How's the new update going for everyone? Anyone visited the jungle to look for my April 1st gift yet?
Akitori, I know what causes that multiplayer glider bug but it'll take a bit of time to fix. I have to rewrite the armor updating system so it ignores the chestplate refresh for ppl in glider mode. Right now the armor refresh happens for everyone on the server when it is triggered and even though the glider gets given back to glider players immediately the tick without it kicks you out of flying mode. I will replace my update file with a new fixed version when I get some time.

After Gavin's comment we've been discussing adding a low chance for meteor metals to drop independent of crater creation. Right now if you play with terrain damage from meteors and mobs off you don't get meteor metals or smoke from crash sites because the chances for these things is wrapped up in the creation of the crater site as the meteor is destroyed and its fire trail dissipates.
We have also been discussing removing wild cave spider spawning from winter and limiting them to just fall. Because the poison in winter is very annoying given the lack of regen. Poisonous mobs will remain in some dungeons, but winter is a bad time to be exploring dungeons or ruins anyway.
thoughts?
The effect of the meteor change would be to give people who keep meteor and mob griefing off some meteor metal chance. It would also have the added bonus of giving a chance to leave meteor metals from crash sites in water or other places they weren't leaving fire or craters. People that play with meteor damage on will see no change except you'll get more drops then you do now. That is basically your reward for putting up with damaging meteors lol.

nice work on that thumbnail diamond_steve! I think going with audacity will be a good choice in the long run, it really helped my audio! The main way to apply noise removal is first to select a small part of the recording that is only noise (no talking) then say "get noise profile" then select the whole track and select "remove noise". There are some nice tutorials on this. You can also use the settings to make the sound fuller or add bass or roundness to your voice, but the settings you would use change a lot from voice to voice in my experience.
In future updates we're working on more content/story. Right now you get stranded but we haven't finished enough areas to make it possible to fix the ship and escape. We'll be working on this all throughout the beta updates and it will be in the final release. We are also planning to have you be able to upgrade/repair your ship with materials you bring back from your exploration and adding a bit more interaction to the summer meteor shower and animation. You missed the actual shower, there were meteor falling out the back side with fire trails. But you'll see more meteor showers now. There are random ones too.
Don't forget to update to the new version that came out this weekend, and have fun picking your suit colors!

Ok guys, another mechanics change idea to vote one:
I was thinking about the armor upgrade system. I do like the current way it works, but several people have ended up not using leather as much as they could since cows take so long to breed. I actually added maybe 4-5 more local cows last update to new games to help with this so that killing wild ones or transporting more to your first pen will get you there faster, but I had another idea that might be better then the way we currently do it.
A way the armor system COULD be better and more realistic would be that each material type up till dragon bones can only be used twice and order doesn't matter. Then you could still use leather if you hadn't even if you'd used fish scales or chitin first and you couldn't just use fish scales for all the first 4 points or chitin for all the first 6, etc.
Worth me doing? For you existing players I will have to assume what you used based on your armor level as the game doesn't keep track of it yet, just your total armor. I will probably assume that you used materials in order: 2 leather, then 2 fish scales, then 2 chitin, then 2 shell scale.

I have done a lot of research into the lag issue some of you have reported. What I'm talking about is sometimes when you are playing space expedition the game suddenly runs very slowly for a while and you get block lag. I'm not talking about a spike that goes away or a slight slowdown, the bug is sudden and slows down the game to at least 1/10 even though it won't affect your fps.
I and lezandria have been able to reproduce it (finally) by reducing our render distances down to the 8-10 range and we found something interesting. When you run the game on these renders this is more likely to happen. I tested the commands running when the lag started and everything was normal. Turns out it is simply an entity issue, sometimes when a custom entity gets into the lazy chunks, the lack of normal checks there can bug them out causing lag. It has nothing to do with the command blocks on the map which is why I couldn't track down the issue. Because most servers run the game at render 10 which is lower then singleplayer that explains why some of you first saw it on a server. We don't usually see the lag bug at all on a render distance of 16 and it was why we never noticed it. You might try changing your server to that.
We have found a better fix for you then changing to peaceful as sometimes the mob is not hostile. If you change your render distance up to around 20 and wait for the terrain to load out further the lag usually immediately goes away. Changing it back also doesn't seem to start the lag again so it must have been an entity that was in the process of despawning and couldn't in the lazy chunks. Next update I'm going to try to prevent the issue by manually despawning wild custom mobs before they can get into lazy chunks for renders of 8 or greater. Basically I'll just remove custom mobs that wander more then 90 horizontally from the player and if my calculations are right the issue should only occur at 96 or greater given a minimum render of 8.
For now, keep in mind if you use a lower render of 10 or less you may see the issue occasionally and changing your render briefly to something larger will help. I would recommend just running 16 chunks if your computer can handle it. The game looks better at that anyway. Also, as we said before, don't allocate too much RAM in singleplayer. You get bad garbage collection problems. 2G in the JVM arguments for your profile is optimal. Lezandria has played over 10 years on this map and never seen this issue with 2G RAM allocation and 16 render distance. We are also not using windows 10 though so no idea if that is related. Most people who saw it a lot had windows 10 as well.

thanks for the bug report Akitori, I was pretty busy this week but I took some time to work on the system tonight and I think I fixed it!
The reason you were losing flight when another person unselected the glider remote in multiplayer turned out to be because the elytra was gone for a tick when the server armor refresh happened before the game "caught" the mistake and put it back. So players could kick other players out of gliding mode if they triggered a refresh by unselecting their own glider. Since you can't really trigger this in singleplayer I hadn't noticed till now.
I didn't have multiplayers to test this with but from what I can tell I fixed the issue now and it should fix your multiplayer problem too. There is now an override in the armor refresh system that prevents players with Elytra from losing it. Let me know if it works. I have messaged you a new update with a bugfix for you to play on till the official update comes out next week.
On the subject of Elytra, I've sometimes had a client/server desync while using the jetpack on servers far away that resulted in me getting rubber-banded while using it sometimes. Very annoying. Does this happen to anyone else? It didn't look like OldOne was having this problem. I have not seen this with the vanilla rockets. If anyone else has seen this I think I might have an idea to fix it. If instead of incremental tp I use a high-level levitation effect for the boosts the game should be able to predict the motion better on servers and there will be less desync. So stay tuned for that. I want flying together with jetpacks and glider to be as fun and smooth as possible in multiplayer!
In other news, we've come up with a plan for next update and did a lot of new terraforming work for some upcoming new asteroids and areas! I think you guys will like what we've been developing! There will be part of a large new asteroid chain with several new biomes for you to explore and also a new near area with several jungle asteroids that isn't too far for you to explore. It will probably contain a new ruin as well.
Let me know what you think of these ideas I had for the next update:
- removing enchantments with the Disenchanter gives both bottled xp and the lapis back, sort of like enchant recycling! This will be extended to work on enchanted books so the unusable randomly generated ones can be recycled and have a use as there are many random dungeon chests on the map.
- add a delay of around 10-15 seconds between the announcement of a meteor shower and it hitting. This is so that the "take cover" can actually be heeded plus it feels better
- meteor metals have a small chance to drop even when a crater and smoke is not formed. This will slightly increase rates and mean meteors can leave behind drops in water and with mob griefing off
- make creature capture capsules work even if you accidentally place them down
- guardians will drop fish scales as an extra reward for hunting them
- disable cave spider spawning in winter
- fire extinguisher recipe will be added
- magnetic item retrieval module tech will be added
- sand wraiths and at least one other creature will have a chance to spawn only during sandstorms
- considering a gravity draught custom potion change: instead of rising levitation followed by high jump, I was thinking to make it allow you to air walk by drastically reducing the fall speed of gravity you could use this to jump/walk between asteroids!
- a new asteroid chain we've been working on will be added out in the void
- a new asteroid cluster with several new jungle asteroids will be added nearby
- a couple new ruins and several creature dungeons will be added in the new areas
- I'm also going to tackle the entity issue that can cause rare block lag on low render distances and hopefully fix it.

Sorry Space Expedition. I think this map is not made for me as i am too lazy to explore and stuff. And as i'm in a higher class i also have limited time to play games so sorry. I think I have to quit this map. This map was fun to play but I didn't find it my type so yeah.

it takes some time to play yeah. The idea is you just keep experiencing it as you have time. Glad you enjoyed while you could! We are currently developing a story and plotline that will emerge and give the game a "definite" end goal to work toward for those that want that. For now it is very much just survival in a strange new world with much more to work towards then a normal game. It does take some commitment and is targeted at survival players though I tried to make it a good deal more exciting then default.

hey I'm wondering if the death system saves your items when falling into the void because I have just recorded a video (and most background sounds are removed with audacity also since my videos of it are like 40 min i decided to make it shorter and my results are 24 min) and i felled down into the void but when i come back i can't find it anywhere
No, falling into the void is the one way other then time that you can lose your items. Sorry It gets easier to save yourself from falls though when you build a Biosuit Glider remote.

No, falling into the void is the one way other then time that you can lose your items. Sorry It gets easier to save yourself from falls though when you build a Biosuit Glider remote.
