Have you thought about playing with custom crafting?
You could make a recipe, using say 5 blaze rods, a bucket, and three cobblestone to make a lava bucket. Or using four or nine ice to make packed ice. You could really expand the map using it and open up a lot more avenues of game play.
Great map by the way. I'm going to be restarting my world soon since the move to my new computer corrupted my save.
Still a few bugs tested it on 25 mobs per to see drop rates in creative. Enchant books not dropping off entities blaze " looting_enchant" Husks only dropped Sand and Rotten flesh no Carrots, iron or enchant. Zombies also only dropped Rotten flesh and gravel, no iron or potatoes or enchants books. Withers seem to lack Skull drops and only dropped 2 soul sand out or 25 and also a low coal drop rate of 6. None seemed to have dropped an enchant book.

Which basicly means they have a 7.5% chance out of 100% to drop 1 iron. so killing a 100 Zombies will spawn 7-8 iron. Need to raise it and not use a 0.0 factor.
EX. The following will smelt the cobblestone at a base 10% chance, increasing by 15% with each level of Looting ( on a weapon). For example, with Looting 3, the following smelts cobblestone 55% of the time (0.1 + (3 * 0.15) = 0.55).
0.01(1% looting enchant Modifier) + (3= Level of enchant) x 0.075 (7.5%) drop rate out of 100% (1.0)= so even with a "looting 3" enchanted sword they only get a 22.6 iron out of 100 kills

Adds a modifier to the drop chances of the item/pool or chance to execute a function. The "chance" float key will hold a value between 0.0 and 1.0, with 1.0 being 100% chance.
I had a problem with jungle saplings and to a lesser degree dark oak saplings. The first jungle tree gave me 1 sapling and the second gave none. So I couldnt finish the 64 of each log acheivement without adding some other sapling source... so I made a loot table for bats dropping saplings. I though bats were a good option as they arent easy to farm and the rational being that tree seeds could be stuck to their hide on occassion from roosting in trees
So far they have provided a 4th dark oak sapling and a single jungle sapling. Bats are a pain to hunt. it doesnt seem like an OP cheat perhaps it could be added to the next update.
I couldnt get passive mobs to spawn untill I made one of the surrounding islands grass areas bigger, so I ask if anyone gets sheep, cows or pigs to spawn on the starting island?
I think we could add netherack to pigmen loot, then we can make netherbrick, netherbrick fences, stairs and red netherbrick
Squids spawning seem to be no problem.
If I had lost my bucket before getting an iron farm going I might have wished for zombies to drop more iron ingots, but I thought 2 ingots from zombies so far was about rare enough..
I didnt expect any enchanted books as a drop from any mob as we can get them from (AFK) fishing.
I took a little creative tour around in a test world as well and noticed the world border and the nether chuncks are a little off, allowing players access to a lot of lava, the overworld is perfect in places as you could use lava from outside the world border that flows in.
I also noticed an ocean monument, I hope it spawns in my play world too.
Is there a command block somewhere in the world that's constantly resetting the worldborder size to 2000x2000 blocks? I keep trying to expand it to make this witch hut that naturally spawns 300 blocks past the edge of it accessible but the border just keeps resetting its size.
I love this map absolutely , however i think it still can be improved such as putting in witch hut and Ocean monument.
I made a add something to the loot table such as giving enderman 2% chance to drop diamonds and stray to drop packed ice , need cold biome , tho.
Whoooooo guys there is actually a ocean monument here! THIS IS BEST SKYBLOCK MAP INDEED
found that when i sweeping the map in singleplayer for flower forest biome! been playing this map on a server really far and still make new discovery!

Cant find the second bucket of water..?
Theres water on the map - you just have to look after your bucket and find it.

Perhaps worldborder reset is in the "loop.mcfunction" file. Under saves-<yoursave>-data-functions-skyblock. Im not sure how that works though.

After digging up all 8 islands, is there a way to get more dirt?
Nevermind; figured it out
The main island has 8 islands surrounding it in the cardnal directions; One of which has the second water source.

I'm loving this map, but when I went to the nether nothing was there. I was just on a floating nether portal.
your only supposed to see a floating portal in the nether, build out from it to make use of the nether
