Austerity, a map made by many newcomers to CTM mapping as well as some more experienced mappers, has been released! It's really a wonderful map, it's been really fun working on it and I think you'll all enjoy it. It's not a very long map, but it's a really fun one. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to make such a small map work properly :/.
woaaah Austorityy!!! Downloading it now It will be incredible
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it
I've just put up a patch to help the difficulty curve a bit more. Don't have a changelog as this was done by LULZ and Chipmunk, but I'll ask if there's anything I should mention and edit accordingly!
For the record, the main changes are done to the final intersection, as many of those areas had serious issues. Another potential future addition is the inclusion of a button to clear all mob spawns, since this map has very close quarters and mobs don't always despawn when you die. Please give us feedback on this!

Any and all feedback over all is super valuable to make sure the map ends up nice and clean. Spread the word too! The more people playing the better
*Proceeds to enter area containing wood & cobwebs*
You might want to nerf that trade a little. Pretty sure having nearly 200 fish is too good for only having cleared one area.
Otherwise this map seems pretty great so far.
It's entirely designed that way. Food in 1.9+ is utterly absurd, and all of the people testing were running out of food by the time they got to the 3rd area. The trader became that solution!
Well, some further exciting news! Discordancy will be exiting beta in the next week or so! Myself and a few others have been extensively preparing the map based on all the feedback we've receive from all the amazing people who have participated in the open beta. With the full launch, the bugs will be fixed, the areas will be far more balanced, and problem items have been dealt with, both under and over-powered.
Keep an eye out for more news, along with a new, smaller, map announcement fairly soon as well, that we cannot wait to bring you! Discordancy 2: Discovery is also planned to be started towards the middle of this year, so that will be yet another thing to look forward to!

Do you have any preference in texture pack, Fang? I'm trying to practice editing for the first time, and i'm using your map as a guinea pig. Trying to do a lets play, but its taking me forever just to figure out sony vegas and do the things i want to do. All i can really ask is how i can make it prettier in terms of texture packs instead of messing up the scenery? Unless this map was meant for default.

We did build in default (oddly enough for me!), but I'd be surprised if other Texture Packs look too off. I do know the JohnSmith pack looks pretty nice, but that's cuz it's the pack I usually use for my own mapping/playing and I've flown around Discordancy in it. Can't speak for Austerity though!
Question - How difficult is it to update my map? I've never done that before. Halfway through Austerity at present (version 1.1).
It's fairly easy if you know your way around MCEdit in the slightest! Essentially you would just need to select the areas you've finished, copy them, and paste them over the areas in the updated copy. For Austerity this would be particularly easy, as each area is confined to a clearly defined cube.
If you do try this and have difficulty, let me know and I might be able to get it done for you
when i started the Austerity map i was in creative and now i'm stuck bc i don't have permission to change my gm to survival. what do i do?
Oh fudge. I'll make sure that gets fixed.
For now, go to the ESC menu and click "open to LAN". While on that menu there is an option that says "enable cheats". Enable it, and then open to LAN. From there you'll have cheats access until you close the map again.
I'm currently playing Austerity (which is definitely one of the best ctms I've played so far), and I wonder if there's any way I can get help about upgrading the map. Since I have no experience with MCedit, it's kinda daunting to edit the map myself, especially when there's a risk to ruin the map which I've put so much time and effort into. Or is it okay to continue playing with the previous version?

You'll be fine playing a prior version, but Austerity of all maps should be shockingly easy for MCedit newbies to update! Since each area is contained within a box, you just need to take your finished zone (except the monument) and place them over the same area in a new copy. If you want the fixed monument you'll need to give yourself an extra disc for each you've completed though.
That's if you want to take that route though! The update has done some small bug fixes, some balance changes, and a few new changes with some enchanting book options and a mob-despawner (which you can simulate by peaceful flashing at the monument).
Thanks so much! Luckily had these all noted down, but appreciate you taking the time
