But where are you supposed to go? Every path I take leads to nothing, at many points I was unsure of what to do, overall I didnt know what on earth I could do, not to mention I lost my book so theirs no chance in hell im ever leaving a note.
The server parts are quite intriguing, if you could make a map where people really did publish messages that would be mind-blowing. The note dialog was very well done, and the griefing/hack felt like a good progression.
But it really seemed incongruous with the story part.
So what does the "glitched server" stage represent? Aging?
SPOILERS:
So David's wife commits suicide between servers 1 and 2. When this happens, David's life falls into ruins, like the server. Later he tries to recover, but it isn't ever the same, hense the glitches and every comment saying null. On the fourth server, there's nothing left but his innermost thoughts, and unlocking these leads to bad memories and his spiral into oblivion. That's the stuff directly from the map, but some other elements of the story are up for interpretation.
Very interesting map! It was quite the experience!
The "notes" were a very cool mechanic, but I felt they didn't fit well with the underlying story. I felt like it was a bit too dark for the context of playing on a Minecraft server. I feel like if this was adapted in some way to talk about online bullying it would flow a lot better and send a powerful message. For example, how there were those "Help." & "I need someone to listen" notes, they could've been left by a kid on the server. His message is overpowered by the sheer amount of comments on the server, much like most social media platforms nowadays. He just wants someone to listen. You're that someone. You follow his journey through thought and notes and eventually you find that he left the server for good or something. Then perhaps it can go to the dialogue of the bully, who also has his own journey. It ends with him also leaving and apologising, hoping there's some way his message will reach the person he hurt.
Idk, that was all just a quick brainstorm, but I feel like this map has huge potential and I liked a lot of the elements in it, just not the suicide route. It felt too forced and not realistic enough to send a powerful message.
Again, well done with this map. It was a unique experience and I applaud you for making it!

Well thanks for the constructive criticism, I'm always open to it. I wanted to do suicide because it's something no one really talks about. Every day you see something on stopping cyberbullying, but suicide is just as prevalent a problem. Your idea is pretty good though
Did you notice the block models?
One thing tho, I couldn't open the door with the codes or know what the codes were, like the first server/scene, how do you know what to do? I had to go in creative to get through it. Was that intended? Same thing for the creeper door at the end, I went in creative and found the torches/repeaters...
Other than that, was a really good map! I hope you make more of this style!

Thanks for the feedback! For the first puzzle you had to shut the first door and the lever was behind it. The other one was random guessing
The first door puzzle I understood as you are to lock yourself inside, unable to cope with the reality but I think you should not put the creeper door as a random guess challenge, maybe you should have it as something in the character's life like the date of his wife/girlfriend's death or even better the date of his death, seems like a huge stretch, maybe it is, I'm just a commenter giving out my opinion
Hello , i'm french and i love your map , can i have the right to translate the map ???, don't worry i'll don't steal your map xD , i'll translate it to upload it on this french article : http://minecraft.fr/note/
Go for it! I give full permission for you to translate and monetize Note.
Merci pour l'article tres beau!
How do you describe note?
Note is a map about loss, but is a story of gain.
Note is a map about despair, but is a story of hope.
Note is a map about interaction, but is a story of isolation,
Note is a map you should play for the story.
This map is played in Minecraft Version 1.9.4
Turn on voice and weather in the sound menu.
Do not play unless resource pack sounds are working!
Note contains mature themes (death). This map may not be suitable for younger Minecrafters.

An absolutely beautiful story, but sad too...
Thanks for making this.
Also, what is in the locked chest at the end? I broke it and I got 27 smooth stone
Thank you for playing!
It just said "SUP" spelled in stone:)
So many wasted opportunities...
Umm, its griefed?
At one point, yes.
That represents something tragic happening in the character's life.
So many wasted opportunities...

Look around the creeper door

This feels HEAVILY inspired by The Beginner's Guide. (Which is a great game!) Good map!
