Nice job Bethel! Nope no questions. I figured players would escape if they explored enough. There's no way to keep people imprisoned if they work hard, and we didn't try to completely prevent it (what fun would that be?) The option is just delayed. I for one think that feature makes this map fun. I expected many players would opt to escape before figuring out everything about the map. As you said, it would be a prisoner's first thought! Glad you are embracing the story.
As you can see on the list escaping from your Exile is intended and not even the last challenge on the list. It is just one of the big steps unlike Cave-In. Hopefully you enjoyed your time in the nether. I loved having to figure out how to survive and progress there. so different right? btw, all the items on your list but diamond you can get quite plentifully in the nether through some work. Lezandria's blog in particular outlines her journey to secure renewable leather and iron. some of that will only come through developing your villager population which I know you aren't a huge fan of, but they will eventually get you lots of emeralds for lapis, redstone, diamond/iron tools, and even free iron from the golem spawns. The trick is to build an artificial village after you cure 2 of them. Message me if you get close to solving things. We were gonna release an update pertaining to end-game stuff hopefully before anyone finishes completely.

Also, I know it wasn't a normal world but your Final Battleground runs DID have sunlight, albeit filtering through deadly radiation. Did you enjoy the challenge of the map? I thought it might be a scenario you would like, but I do agree with you about the red! So much of it!

Thanks for the congrats. My question was whether or not you wanted to tackle the chest that gave me THREE diamonds and THREE Obsidian.... one chest... a real sweet treat.
As for Final Battleground --- I'm actually dying to get back to it. Of all the challenges, that one was the best / most fun / biggest challenge for me. I loved it and really do want keep playing it. That was one of the reasons why I constantly went back and started over ---- because it was just so much fun surviving the first 10 days.
But........ not until I have cracked the whole Exiled thing. I'm not done yet, don't count me as GONE just yet.
nah, the chest can stay. Players should eventually get the supplies for beacons and enchant tables if they explore enough and I know it already takes quite some exploring and traveling to find those supplies. Unless you found it really close I think it's fine. 168 Days is a fair amount of time to go before escaping.

Soooooo.... I've been missing in action for about a week..... wonder what I have been up to?
It honestly took me about a week to tunnel through the 5000+ blocks distance to get back here....
The only real question I have is... why is one side in permanent darkness? Things that make you go Hmmmmm
Nice Trick, Dan.... burying it in a mountain. I almost missed where it was by walking right by it. And why bury the glowstone blocks? I am lost on that one.
Next week is Graduation, I don't expect to be playing much ... so in about 2 weeks I'll be back and attacking the Nether again. This time decked out properly as all good archeologists should be.

I actually realized (and will be trying soon) another avenue of escape that you might not have thought about. I will restart the game and play it through simply to see if it works or doesn't... but I have a feeling it will.... and it will be AWESOME.
Dan --- you won't believe this in light of our private conversations, but I actually crafted a house on the island of my escape --- something that doesn't totally look like a two story cardboard box. I'm actually quite proud of it, being my first attempt at something with a bit of decorum. I'll shoot you pictures once I can get to my wife's computer. (probably tomorrow sometime) I like the home so much, and the location so well, that I am thinking I will actually be making it my homebase for playing the rest of this adventure through. Within less than 500 blocks distance of my house (in any direction) is (A) a dark oak forest (I LOVE DARK OAK!!!!) (B) an ocean monument, (C) a Mooshroom continent, (D) swampland, (E) Extreme Hills (F) Tiaga, (G) Tiaga Hills & (H) Desert. It's honestly a scouter's / adventurer's paradise! And my home is literally in the middle of it all.
In any case, I'll shoot you pictures when I can... my home at least looks better than the "Abraham Lincoln in a stove-pipe hat" pictures I sent you before.
Oh, I and I even managed to convert my first Zombie into a villager. Thanks for encouraging me to spread beyond my previous limits and limitations.

In other news, at the urging of James and some of the other youtubers, I've begun practicing making videos for the new OathBros channel! Right now it only has the trailer for Exiled but we are planned on much, much more! Including some survival vids from our brand-new SMP server with custom command-block modules and terrain generation, events with the community including a UHC event of which videos will come out soon, and also map-building and command-block vids by the OathBros team!
Consider subscribing if any of that sounds interesting! In the future we will also be consolidating our work onto a website we're in the process of designing which will include a forums section where you guys can chat with each other and give us suggestions for upcoming map projects!
As practice, I've started recording my own single-player journey through the hostile world of Exiled. I will try my best to avoid spoilers until the other major players have uncovered areas. Here is Episode #1, my very first video!
Please give me lots of feedback about ways that I can improve my quality and commentary! As I said this series is mainly to help me practice so the OathBros channel vids will look more professional. In the future all vids will be 720p but I derped on recording this so you have 480p for the first episode and no ingame sounds. I've fixed both problems for future recordings.

These larger maps I actually thought we were pacing decently well, hence the 3-month gap between Cave-In and the next in the series, Exiled.
But yeah, they can be quite long to play if you intend to fully experience each one. Still hoping to hear the good news that someone has beaten the full game. Been almost a month now! If you do a decent amount of exploring and think about what you've found and seen the puzzle should eventually come together for you. But in the meantime, most players have been just enjoying the unique survival challenge, which is the bigger part of the map.

To clarify for you, the thread isn't dead, it's just that a bunch of other stuff happened with the community the past 2 weeks. We've started a server together that I've been working on a lot and also played a UHC PvP event together. The vids for that just started coming out this week. You'll see more Exiled vids again soon but we took a week break because of all that was going on!

A few other players have recently figured out other pieces of the puzzle. I'm excited to see it all come together for the first players. Please tell me if you got a message upon escaping. I'm curious if that is working still.
Please note that I recently was made aware by these same players that the item duplication bug in minecraft with hopper clocks in 1.8 has been breaking some things. If you have tried things to solve the puzzles that haven't worked it is possible this also happened in your game. I am working this weekend to release an update fixing the issue and will give commands to players like you who have been playing a long time and may be suffering from the issue. Wish I'd figured it out sooner but apparently the bug only happens randomly and over a long time span hence only to players that have played for many hours.
I will distribute some commands that should fix the issue in in-progress games as soon as I have time. thanks, and I apologize that my bug-testing did not catch this issue.

I am a very new minecraft player this map has been so much fun. I will never figure out why I was banished lol I am clueless when looking at all these structures and hieroglyphics.
I was out exploring and found the area with a bunch of spawners I fell into a hole in the bedrock and didn't have blocks to get out I spent a couple hours trying to get the mobs to kill me and got fed up and tossed it on lan and opened cheats to get creative mode going. Did doing this ruin my map? I didn't know what else to do to get out of the hole.

My guess is that everyone is wracking their brains trying to unravel The Oath Brother's mysterious puzzle....
