Just finished playing this map, and wow. I found this map looking for a long adventure to do on the side and I fond exactly what I was looking for. This map really captured that sense of childlike wonderment. Basically what I mean is that the sense of adventure was throughout the map. Not sure if I explained that correctly, but hopefully you know what I mean.
I would also like to comment how how well made this map is. I can tell that there were no cut corners in the aesthetics, redstone, story, everything was top notch. I really loved the spell casting system with the books. It added a new mechanic I'd never seen before. That contributed to the sense of the adventure, I never knew what new loot I would get. Also all of the unique puzzles added so much to the map. Every puzzle was very well made and designed, had a unique twist, and almost all of them were things I'd never seen before.
While this map is so great in so many ways, there were a lot of things that bothered me. For one thing, there were so many parts of the map that were just frustrating, they added nothing to the map, only made it irritating at some points. For example, in the ocouras place (the sandstone sky place) the area where there were the 3 paths and 2 of them were needed to fix a catapult. In that area there where little sets of blocks that you had to jump across. Every time you wanted to go between them. Things like this frustrated me so much. The path didn't need to be like that, having to jump between all of the little blocks was extremely annoying and in my opinion made the map so much worse.
Also the map from the start to after the end dungeon was great excluding the sky dungeon. The map was challenging, not frustrating, had the sense of exploration, and really was fun to play. After that and the sky dungeon the map just became unfun. The part where that wither skeleton was invincible and casing you was so dumb. I found myself spawning, running in to try to find the next area, then dieing again. Even through resistance 2 and full diamond armor, he kills you in 3 hits in about 2 seconds, no exaggeration. So much of the map for that reason became unfun and very annoying. And the dragon fight in the sky dungeon was just dumb, no two sides to it, just dumb. Several times in the fight I had died right after spawning. I spawned in, the dragon knocked me off, and that was that. There was no strategy really, it was just hope the dragon stays away from you, because no matter what you did the dragon would just knock you away.
Anyways, hopefully you get my point, there were so many things in this map that were just frustrating to play, not fun, just irritating. Don't get me wrong, this map is incredible but toward the end I just got so frustrated with how there was little I could do to advance forward. I liked this map a lot, but some things were just bad and unfair in my opinion.
