Whats up guys! I have been working for 2 months on a project for minecraft! I created a Christmas Parkour Map since its almost christmas! This map has been a project since before thanksgiving and i really worked hard on it! The map is based on parkour and gets tougher as you progress! There are checkpoints and fun items along the way! There are 8 areas with each level getting more difficult! The levels are:
Pepper Mint Parkour
We Wish You An Ice Christmas
Nightmare Before Christmas
Santa's Special Day!
I recommend listening to Christmas tunes or drinking hot chocolate while you play! Play with up to 4 people so why don't record it?! Anyways Thanks for checking it out and make sure to rate this map if you liked it
If you don't mind, I'm going to comment on some things I liked and didn't like.
HERE WE GO!
First off, the game started me out in creative, and the rules specifically stated that I should play in creative mode but not to use cheats. In order to get out of creative mode, I had to use a cheat, so I break a rule either way. Also, I would suggest using the command "/gamerule commandBlockOutput false". It will make it so that it doesn't say things like 'Changed time to 13000' or 'Made weather rainy' and stuff like that. Also, you accidentally said that the map is for 2 to 4 players, rather than also being a single player map.
Some other mechanics didn't fit or work. For example, it was possible to access 'shortcuts', in which you could start in the middle of an area without doing any parkour. Also, saying that there wasn't enough checkpoints is an understatement. I eventually had to resort to playing in creative mode to finish, and because of this shortage, it basically made the map impossible. Also, where there WERE checkpoints, the command set was invalid. In order to correctly format the code in the command block, you need to use the command "/spawnpoint @p X Y Z". Also, dying can cause many ragequits because it starts you at the very beginning. (Fortunately for me, hot chocolate helped a lot). Finally, you could skip levels to some degree.
On a more detailed level, I believe that the areas actually decreased in difficulty. That's just my opinion, though.
Additionally, the end of the map wasn't clear. (I ended in the gift, but I wasn't sure where to go from there since the pressure plate didn't work.)
Now I'm going to get REALLY nit-picky. I suggest you change these, but they are rather minor. In the snow 'god', you could cut off a small portion of the parkour area. The ladders were difficult to see on the pumpkins. The cobwebs were unnecessary unless they were functioning as decoration. The jump boost with the fences were much too hard for my liking.
Finally, on your forum post, you used the word 'woring' as opposed to the word 'working'.
Despite all that criticism I just threw at you, the map was well designed in terms of construction. I liked the simple designs in the parkour - nothing too amazing, but I am a fan of non-laggy mechanics with just enough simplicity. (E.g. the way you used the lamps to light up area 1) Also, I loved the in - out effect that you used in the snowman 'god'. I also liked the color, style, and pixel art of the area in 8-bit christmas. The jump boost mechanic was also enjoyable, and I liked how you used skeleton and wither skeleton heads as a parkour mechanic. Finally, I liked the design of the gifts, candy canes, snowmen, and christmas trees. It's obvious that you put a lot of work into it.
On a more serious note, don't feel bad about my criticism, especially if you're younger and this is your first map. Overall, this was an extremely challenging map with great details but fell short in terms of difficulty and checkpoints.
I would suggest using neat but rather simple command block work that might include titles, say, tellraw, etc. Just try experimenting!
Lastly, could you please tell me how you used color in the books? Thanks!
P.S. Are you a fan of league?
P.P.S. If you are a fan of parkour, I would suggest that you try my map - Alliteration Station.
Heh. Yeah i know! XD The map has SOME Holes here and their! It was my first map after all :3 Ill go ahead and fix up some things in the map and change a few things up! Thanks alot for giving me some feedback to make the map and my future maps a whole lot greater! Sorry for the typos in the post, Just a minor mistake! ALSO I played through the mpa a few times and i don't see why some command blocks didn't work for you. They worked perfectly okay for me! I understand that there are some mistakes in the command blocks and such and i will try to fix them!
ALSO FYI to write books in color , paste § symbol in the book, followed by a number and that will make it write in color! (EX. §4 Hello! = Hello!)
