Hey renderXR! A group of friends and I just beat Corona Trials tonight as part of a weekly event over 13 weeks, and we were blown away by how amazing the map was. The entire thing was incredibly well done; thank you so much for making it!
When Minecraft updated to 1.13, Realms kicked the Untold Stories maps out (along with everything else) because I guess things work differently in 1.13. We were halfway through Corona Trials, so we had to move from Realms to a server on my own computer running 1.12, and it made the game extremely laggy and hard to play, especially when a lot of monsters spawned. We really want to play the other maps too, but it would be way better for us if I could upload it back to Realms and play it that way. Question: Do you have a way to make a v1.13 version of your maps that I could upload to Realms, or do you know if Realms will be able to bring Untold Stories back?
Thank you so much!! Looking forward to playing Calamity Canyon next!
Yeah, I'm also wondering how game breaking 1.13 would be on Calamity Canyon? I like the ease of running a Realm server so if possible I'd like to play the map there. Any insights on how bad things might be if we it on 1.13?
Hey everybody, I finally got another (mini)map out! The Sower! It is a tad on the difficult side, has 8 objectives and is for Minecraft 1.13.2. I have some new gameplay mechanics like an improved custom natural spawn system and spammable swords. Please give me some feedback, as I might use some of the mechanics in later maps if people like them enough! Hope you enjoy!
I'm trying out The Sower now, and really enjoying it so far.
I played Corona Trials earlier in the year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially liked having the Emeralds as a secondary task. It really gave a good reason to explore each area more. I ended up finding 25 out of the 27. Alas one of them was blown up (along with me and the rest of my stuff!). And there were two that I scoured the world for but just couldn't find.
I really enjoyed its progression, and the detail you put in to each level was fantastic. I did die 42 times (ahem) but that is perhaps more an indictment of my skills than of the difficulty of the map But I didnt die in the Nebula Citadel! (Although an errant Ender Pearl throw left me with half a heart - it was a close thing!). I didnt solve that mystery puzzle room in that foresty area (you know the one I mean!). I had a theory on how to but alas never got the right items (I probably threw something away earlier that I should've kept).
Just managed to finish The Sower jut in time for Christmas, after getting a couple of hours every other night for the last month. Between the two of us, we accumulated 355 deaths, and had great laughs along the way. Pretty solid map in my opinion, balancing seemed pretty good, it was only once we got to the final flower room things really went pair-shaped. Much kamikaze creeper-hugging ensued!
The modified natural spawns was interesting - my guess is that it helped keep the number of skeletons down in the first area(s) until we could afford shields? It certainly felt like it helped the progression in the beginning anyway, and supplied many insults! My only real criticism was the location of the blue orchid - I'd seen the entrance previously and was hoping for a full themed area, but equally didn't approach it until near the end, as I expected it to be one of the later areas. As such, I was a tad disappointed by the succinctness, though I should've guessed this would be the case by the flower order. Anyway, thanks for another amazing map and a Merry Christmas
First let me say that my son and I absolutely LOVE your Corona Trials map! Certainly the most fun we have ever had playing minecraft together! However, when 1.13 dropped and realms updated we were no longer able to play it together and our saved game in Realms was broken.
Since then I have created a server through Creeper Host in the hopes that I can upload your Untold Stories 4: Cronoa Trials to a 1.12.2 instance on the server. I have been able to get it to work client side but am having trouble getting it to work multiplayer via the server. Can anyone offer any help or advice?
Hey, my group and I just finished The Sower today! Great job, really appreciate your work.
I was trying to remember what the names of all the zones were so we could vote on what our favourite was like we did for Corona Trials, but the signs for a few of them got destroyed, plus I'm not certain that the first zone had a sign at all. Could you list (in a spoiler probably) the names of all the areas in the Sower when you have a minute? Thanks!
EDIT:
Just wanted to mention I'm glad that Phantoms seemed to take the place of Evokers this time around; Vexes were honestly a real pain to deal with in Corona Trials, particularly after Minecraft updated to 1.13 so we had to play on a personal server instead of realms.

Hey - mind if I ask how you got The Sower to work in multiplayer? Was it through a Server, and if so, could you give me a few pointers on how to get it to work? I have set up a server for me and my son, but I am a total novice at it. Thanks!

My friend uses Realms to host it for us. I'll point out your post to him later so he can come give you more detailed instructions.
Hey harneloot, I'm the one TheLoserar mentioned. Minecraft Realms works fantastic for these maps (minimal lag, even with lots of enemies!), but only if they're compatible with 1.13 or later. Right now that's just The Sower. If you purchase Realms (it's $7.99 a month for the Java version, which IMO is a good deal seeing as private servers across the internet can be ~$30/month) it gives you the option to upload a world into one of your 3 world slots and play it. In this case I just downloaded The Sower off the opening post here, uploaded it through Realms, and we played it that way.
One way to test it works is to immediately do something that requires non-built-in logic, like turning the Death Counter on and off (it's right where you start). It should also let you sprint infinitely, which is different from normal Minecraft (the hunger bar appears in your HUD but it's permanently stuck at 4 or 6 food, on purpose).
You can download the other maps too, but they don't work. For instance, Corona Trials' hallway teleports don't send you anywhere, so you can't progress through the game. We're waiting for 1.13-compatible versions of Myriad Caves and Calamity Canyon before we play those.
I have some new gameplay mechanics like an improved custom natural spawn system and spammable swords. Please give me some feedback, as I might use some of the mechanics in later maps if people like them enough! Hope you enjoy!
Thanks for making The Sower; it was a lot of fun! My group of friends are big fans of your work. The custom spawn system was interesting, especially with the special drop tables. I honestly didn't notice the spammable sword feature very much; I guess I just don't hold the button when I'm in danger. It didn't seem overpowered or anything, if that was what you wanted to know.
I actually managed to go the entire game without dying--right up until the last 5 minutes, haha. I somehow avoided what I felt were two of the most diabolical traps:
The SuperCreeper in the iron deposit ceiling in the mines (the guy behind me died), and the Fort Battlemire Forge (by inches!)
Although we never did figure out what this meant, despite later finding and pressing buttons:
46236458
Looking forward to your next map! An additional question--is making Calamity Canyon and/or Myriad Caves compatible for 1.13 on your roadmap at all? If not, I might rent a private server to play those maps (otherwise the lag is bad due to mobs), but I'm trying to figure out if I should wait in case we can host it on Realms instead. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips JaronOrchard! - I had no idea you could upload your own *worlds* to play on Realms (I thought you were limited to the ones that they offered through their load screen). I hope RendXR updates his other maps for 1.13 as my son and I really want to continue to play the Corona Trials map!
Any chance you could give me some advice on how to host the Corona Trials on a server? I did rent one from Creeper Host and my son and I are playing FTB on it with zero lag, but FTB is just TOO much - we prefer the more focused questing in RenderXR CTM maps. I have downloaded the files for Corona Trials, but I just don't know how to set them up on the server correctly.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Creeper Host (or any host, really). At the time I just ran my own server on my computer (which I probably used the Minecraft Wiki's instructions for) and replaced the default world with our Corona Trials save. It didn't work very well though, as everyone had massive lag when going through teleportation hallways or when lots of monsters appeared, sometimes even to the point of being disconnected entirely.
I'd recommend checking with Creeper Host and seeing if you can upload your own maps, similar to how you'd restore a backup. (But take a backup of your current world first!)
That was a tough one. Definitely harder than Corona Trials. I think I ended up with 62 deaths...!
In regards to the mechanics you tried, I really noticed the different spawning in the final area. (more discussion on that in the spoilers, with minor spoilers)
Having a dark space around the "outside" of the mansion, with no mobs anywhere, forcing them to spawn just in the final hole, proved to make that area even more difficult. Sneaky!
I think I forgot about the ability to spam the sword which probably showed in the death count The food mechanic was good - its always satisfying when food goes straight to your hearts. Although I'm not sure I ever made sense of the food bar replacement.
Also calling it a "mini" map is definitely selling it short - it ended up taking me over 14 hours to complete (37 episodes, around 22 mins each, plus lots done off camera). That's not much less than what it took to complete Corona Trials (40 episodes). I think it would be more descriptive to classify it as at least a half-ctm, and even that may not be quite right.
Despite all those deaths though, I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was very challenging. Thank you so much for all your hard work! I'm looking forward to trying out Calamity Canyon soon.
Hello, so I´ve recently played Corona Trials and after that the Calamity Canyon. Here is my experience:
Corona Trials: Subjective difficulty: 3/5 -> 2/5
Died just 2 times, basically always due to my stupidity (lesson learned: never dig straight down even if you think you know what is below you)
Feedback:
Absolutely loved the aesthetics of all the zones (maybe except gemlight bog, this one was just too generic and dark for me)
Loved the way you implemented enchanting (getting few bookshelves at a time and limited amount of lapis)
What I would improve in the future is limiting the access to magma cream (or fire potion in general). With it I was basically able to steamroll through many of the end game zones by completely ignoring blazes.
I absolutely hated vexes in the final zones as they were annoying more than challenging. However more on that later.
Very much enjoyed the mineral mobs. They brought in a nice change from all the other mobs. Would definitely do more custom mobs in the future.
What I would also love to see is more custom items. I loved the shield and the legendary set but was expecting a bit more. For instance you can make the final zones even harder if you buff player by giving him +HP on the gear and it feels more rewarding for the player to see the progression not only in armor points but also in HP value.
Since I am completionist I had to find all the emeralds. I have to be honest some in the large zones like aurora valley were just too difficult for any sane person to find Would loved some hints hidden or something to help players (just like in Calamity Canyon)
Plus points for implementing teleportation between intersections and some other zones as it removed the tedious aspect of running forever.
Overall extremely fun and amazing-looking map. 4.5 / 5 points
Calamity Canyon: Subjective difficulty: 3/5
Died 6 times, 5 were surprise "allahu akb".. I mean creepers. The sixth one was being blow by a trap I knew about but still triggered it with hopes of outrunning it...
Feedback:
Again, loved the aesthetics. This time the map felt very cohesive as opposed to Corona Trials. This is a good thing in shorter to medium maps (just like this one) but if it were to be larger it would grow repetitive soon.
Very much enjoyed custom "infernizers". They brought a nice change into playing maps since you could use creepers to your own advantage. However...
Zombies had absolutely ridiculous "reinforcement" rating. Meaning that whenever you hit a zombie it was almost guaranteed to spawn another zombies. As a result infernizer was basically useless for me once I got at least iron sword since if you hit a zombie with it you basically spawned 5-10 other zombies. This was more of an annoyance rather than a difficult aspect of the game and it quite often caused me to just completely ignore zombies instead of fighting them. If you want to make zombies harder I strongly recommend giving them slight speed boost. You would be surprised how much more difficult they are when faster.
Love the way you do traps. If the player is careful enough and fast to react he can outrun the trap.. if not, his bad.
Also love how you changed evokers to summon zombies instead of vexes. In future maps you can even use phantoms instead of zombies (but that might cause problems inside buildings)
I really missed some good items in the final zone. It was both massive and gorgeous place with a lot of dangerous things. People expect a great reward when fighting such a place but basically the only valuable things I found there were the wools (I had fully enchanted diamond gear from the previous zone). For instance in Corona Trials in the last zone, there was a legendary armor that was better than what you could get by enchanting.
In this map it was much more enjoyable to look for emeralds as it meant exploring which usually led to finding some other goods. Also the fact that there were more than 9 emeralds helps a lot as you don't have to tediously search for every single one of them. Also loved the little help after finding the last wool.
Again very well made and thought out map. 4.5 / 5 points again. :-)
Just a quick question: I was able to complete all advancements (ghast one was fun) except for brewing speed potion 2. How could one find the glowstone dust? I tried to farm witch spawner and even naturally spawned witches for about an hour to no avail. Did I miss a glowstone block somewhere?
Overall thank you so much for making these maps. I am really looking forward to play your next map. In the meantime: Myriad Caves, here I come!
With the forums shutting down soon, do you have another place where we can get your maps and stay in touch with any news or new maps that you're working on? e.g. a Discord channel or something? I love your maps so I don't want to lose touch!
how is the map going

I recently started Untold Stories: Corona Trials 4 and I've got to say, I really LOVE this map.
Your shortcuts are simply out of this world awesome!
The level design is great and the difficulty ramping is superb.
