I have everything installed fine, but the resource pack does not seem to be working right. I noticed in the screenshots some epic pictures of computers and the like, but using the gaia resource pack, I only see dispensers. Albeit, the map looks amazing as is, but I want to see it in all its glory.
The resource pack was something I threw together really quickly, I never actually got around to finishing it sadly, maybe in an update I will.
Heya Killer, glad to see this map was still going. I was worried that it would never get finished after Gaia Life was shut down. I haven't played much in the way of servers or even much minecraft since then. Did you replace the forge multipart blocks with something else? I know there where a lot of multipart blocks in the main lobby of Shinra HQ, is why I'm asking.
Adviser! Yeah, I continued the map after GL shut down and redid the entire thing basically. Forge multipart is still present but not nearly as much as before. I tried to go as vanilla as I could OR went to railcraft.
Okay, I'm in the map, and it's AMAZING. Great stuff... but how do I work the lifts in the Shin-Ra building? (the first place I'm visiting) There seem to be no buttons to activate them. (Mods are listed correctly in the Mods section in the Main Menu)
EDIT: I found the GaiaLife resource pack and installed it, and it's pretty cool but there are no graphical call-outs for the lifts added. Also I wish the music for each area played constantly (the train music (slow melancholy, don't know what it's called ), I guess, started up when I spawned a minecart on a redstone track section ) heh.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the lifts. They were part of a plugin for MCPC+ called lift signs. I never converted them to functional lifts using the mods supplied. I will get around to this eventually, thanks for reminding me! In the mean time, just break the block to get up or down =P
I freshly downloaded the Techit launcher and installed it via the platform URL, then I pasted the map in the savefolder.
Works so far, but it is really laggy on my system.
Core i5-2500k @4Ghz, GeForce GTX770, 16GB RAM, Windows 8.1 X64..
What could be the problem?
I recommend using Optifine, see if that helps the performance at all.
It doesn't work I do all the things you have said ... after I installed it both ways I press play, the launcher loads and pops out ... minecraft doesn't start ... an the launcher pops in again without an error message :,(
Yea i know my english is not the yellow from the egg xD (is not the yellow from the egg is literally a german saying ... it means that something is bullsh*t)
How much RAM do you have allocated to minecraft via the technic launcher? I'd suggest 2+ gb of ram for this.
For those of you having trouble with the game not launching and it immediately going back to the launcher, you're probably using Java 8 on an update that's not supported by forgewhateverit'scalled. I uninstalled Java 8 and installed Java 7 and everything worked perfectly.
Thanks Killerx20 for responding, was just not sure if it was an issue on my end (the screens being dispensers etc). If you release an update with working lifts and more aesthetic updates like the computer screens/lighting changes etc please let us know! I would definitely redownload.

Yeah, I need to finish the resourcepack and supply a elevator mod to make them work.
Awesome! Thanks! So far in my exploration the only thing I -think- I've seen missing is the gym in Wall Market. Also, I didn't really catch the climbable wall that took you up to Shin-Ra Tower. I think just those two. Did I just not catch them or are they not implemented just yet?

Correct, the wall market had to be scaled down a bit to fit in its place. The wall that you climb up to Shin-Ra HQ isn't there because its the scrap and ruin you climb from sector 7 collapsing which hasn't happened yet.
A question about this map and it being able to be played on a server. Does it have to be run (ran?) using MCPC+ (or Cauldron as it's apparently going as now), or is there a way to run it on a normally modded server using the mods and config in the map .zip? I've always made servers by purely portfowarding them and have never bothered with bukkit, hamachii, or other sorts of programs like those.

Is there a way to get the musik, did you have a download link for us Killer? pleaaaase ^.^
And another question ... which lightmod/fxmod do you use?
A download link for... the updated resource pack? Its part of the pack download already.
Lightmod as in the shaders I use? I use Sonic Ethers Unbelievable Shaders v10.1 Preview 2
I would like to report a problem. After downgrading to Java 7.71 to get this mod to run, I still cannot get technic to boot up minecraft. When I go and load the game in vanilla minecraft by copying the save over, there are whole lighting and block sections missing, and the Shinra tower has gaping holes in the architecture. Also I would like to congratulate you on finishing such a big project, recreating nearly every nook and cranny in Midgar can't have been an easy task. Update: What? It says it's offline.
This is truly amazing. The effort you guys have put in to get this to be such a top notch replica of midgar is insane. no words can describe how much i love this one.
I have 1 problem though. Textures.
The splash screen loads fine and menus with the gaia look.
However as soon as i open the map, they are displayed as vanilla
Wierd thing is, under options -> resource packs the faithful - Gaia Pack 3.0b.zip is selected.
Normally i wont even both to post when i have issues but this is such a good mod and i want to see it in all its beaty i feel i have to
Hope somebody can assist.
btw, why not just zip up a fully installed version of
%appdata%\.technic\modpacks\midgar-explorer\
If i get mine working with textures ill get you all a link to a direct paste job
The texture pack was never really customized in depth, its just Faithfuls pack with some additions to it. Faithfuls pack is basically a slightly more HD version of vanilla. Hence why it looks like vanilla.

On the main menu, does it show on the bottom right the forge version and how many mods are loaded?
No, it displays none of that information on the bottom right, only the account I'm logged in as, and it displays the selectable mod packs on the left. I just got Technic last week and this is my first time using it. As I have continued to have problems with the downgrade, I eventually gave up and updated Java again. The console is returning errors saying it cannot run any of the mod packs.
Edit: This is just an update, I'm attempting to have another go at it, I downgraded to Java 7.71 again and now I'm going to see about getting technic to work. (I'll keep you informed if I run into any more issues)
It's a shame this is not completed.. I mean it is stunning but some locations such as the opening sequence area where Aeris appears from (Loveless cafe & Golins bar), the Shrina tower (labs & most floors not even the first floor has been done!) and lot of plate floors are all uncompleted or really is poor.. there's so much missing.. look for yourselves.. I have eagerly been awaiting this release though so thank you for sharing! Hopefully a server can be worked out and we can all add the details to finish this!
Show me what you mean by "the first floor" of the Shin-Ra building not being done (screenshot please). I got a feeling you may have some chunk corruption or the mods simply are not loading.
This is an amazing recreation. Is there any way to get this on PS4? My apologies if this questing has aready been asked.
Unfortunately, installing mods on any console is impossible (as far as I know) so if it were possible to get the save onto a console, it would be rather barren and detail-less looking.
My bad I installed incorrectly but oh my it's beautiful now it's working! I understand the layout meant some things didn't line up for example Reactor No 5 bridge and Sector 5 Church & Don Corneo's trap to the sewers. But there was some things I just simply couldn't find? Like the wall of graffiti that was climbed to get to the upper plates and motorways where G-Bike minigame is played upon exiting Midgar. Also the fountain where cloud jumps and lands on the train.. Urm.. was that detail skipped? Sorry for being critical I just think it's better to point things out than to say "Cool". It's absolutely amazing, a piece of art that every serious FFVII fan should have! Thank you so much for this.
Reactor 5 bridge was impossible to line up indeed, same would have been for the real model if it was accurately built, the wall that you climb up after sector 7 collapsed is not present in this map due to the timeline this map is from (sector 7 has not collapsed yet hence no wire and rubble to climb) The fountain is indeed there on the sector 8 plate and where you jump down to the train to escape the Shin-Ra soldiers is there, you will find an area on the sector 8 plate slightly below the fountain where the tracks are exposed. As for the highway, that is indeed something that was not made but a possibility in the future.

Yes, the key people are in the original post (Volagarenthor, Ksun, Anniixo, Flock)

What are your specs? What version of Java do you have currently? You can check the log files in your .technic folder and find out what went wrong

I will forever remember Aegis Gaming and the Gaia Life server.
YOU MAGNIFICENT *******! I FREAKING LOVE YOU DUDE! It's to scale, isn't it!? ISN'T IT!?!?!? AHHHH THIS IS AWESOME!!

Thanks!! Its as scale as minecraft allows, the biggest it can possibly be.
