Going into this map I already had an idea of what to expect from it, and sadly I got what I was expecting. "The Tormenting" is a horror map that in the end relies on the cheap method of scare that it seems like everything horror related in the world uses now, jumpscares! Although about half way thought the map I was actually thinking that there wasn't going to be jumpscares, but then a jumpscare soon happened. I've kind of been waiting for the day when people who make horror related stuff get it into their heads that jumpscares aren't scary, they're cheap! Sure they make us jump for a moment, but its just for a moment, and the suspense is broken, because now we know that no matter what we do there is no chance to escape the cheap jumpscares. Fear is what keeps us alive in real life, and we as a species need to feel as if we still have a fighting chance or we just won't feel invested in living. Having ten creepers around you in a small room with one exit is a good way to make us feel as if our character in Minecraft is in danger, but still has a chance to escape, thus we feel invested. Having us walking down a hallway, and then all of a sudden a creepy face appears in front of us, followed by a whoosh sound, is just cheap, and we don't feel invested anymore. This is what makes a Vechs map a lot scary than any horror map I have ever played in Minecraft. I was really hoping that this map wouldn't go down the usual horror map route, but in the end it did.

P.S.
You had the chance to make this a really good horror map, and I really hope that you use my advice if you ever make another horror map in the future.

Thanks for the review. Although i hear what you're saying, the genre of this map is horror, i don't think walking into a room with creepers is all that scary. whereas jump scares offer a frightening experience, although its short it does the job effectively . Nonetheless i thank you for your review and i will definatly consider this in my next horror map
P.S This is my first horror map so now that i know what i can improve on, i think my next horror map will be better.
Ok so did you build this map by yourself or with other people and oh my god this map scared the CRAP out of me I had to stop recording it becuse this map is more scary then the orphanige and i would like to help you on another Horror map so if you want you can messige me a ip and we can work on another map it is up to you I want to know how you got so good at making horror map but still nice job!!!

Thank you!. If i do make another horror map i will be sure to consider. However, as i am more of a solo-builder, i don't know if i will be able to accept. But thanks a lot for the comment
The map was nicely built, but wasn't executed very well. There was too much build-up for only two jump-scares (The last one was pretty good). If I may suggest, add a jumpscare to where you open the chest, about 3-4 seconds after it is opened. Turning around to see a spooky face would be a nice touch.
Also, you should change the command blocks from @p to @a, it isn't working correctly on multiplayer.
Thanks for the let's play I have added it to the forum post. Yeah, there is a lot I could of improved on, I wanted to release the map quick which a map-maker shouldn't do. Anyways the map is not for multiplayer so there is no point in changing the command block.
Hi, I did a video of this and uploaded to youtube. If you want you can add it It was really funny to play. When that one jumpscare came, I screamed so loud that my family thought I was hurt... Haha. Keep up the great work This is only Part 1, but Part 2 will be uploaded shortly.

Did my own take on this map. It's a really good Horror Map, the audio made me jump, however, it would be good if the game can be multi-player supported. Cos i recorded it with my friend anyways. (YOLO! XD). The element of the whole map is great, but a little more jumpscares plus making it more plot-oriented would be nice. i give this 7/10. Keep it up man! Looking forward to more maps in the future!
Hey! This was a great map. My and my cousin really enjoyed playing it. It wasn't meant to be played in multiplayer, but we did it anyways. (I got all the jump scares though, but it's all good) Keep up the great work.
