"They locked us up like a bunch of rabid animals. We saw it, we know we did.
It visits us every night, our white rooms.
They still refuse to believe us.
Some have gone insane...
And some have gone even further..."
THE (BETTER) PREQUEL TO THIS MAP HAS BEEN RELEASED, GRIEF!
THIS IS NO LONGER INTENDED TO BE THE SEQUEL TO GRIEF AS A REMAKE IS IN THE WORKS
As you feebly try to escape the asylum, you encounter various victims, insane prisoners, and even the apparition himself.
However, you are going through a state of manic denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and inevitably acceptance, known as the Kübler-Ross model.
The success of my last map inspired me to re-imagine/remake the original map, The Maze, with all-new content and extended features, coupled with special 1.8 commands.
Please leave feedback/constructive criticism on what you thought about the map, as your suggestions will make the later parts of increased quality and quantity. Working on Anger right now...

***SPOILERS!***
Be prepared, 'cause this map has tricks up it's sleeve..
If you liked this map, please take a second or two to press that green arrow to give it some reputation. I spent 24+ hours making this map, and that would really give me/it some support.
nice map! I can feel the chill when playing and sometimes I freak out LOL. One more thing, you should tell the player which difficulty to play with, for I played on Peaceful (I don't know if mobs will spawn in dark places) so I missed some fun parts Here is my Let's Play video.

*SPOILER ALERT*
Thanks for playing my map! Anyways, when you start it up it internally changes your difficulty to higher than peaceful with command blocks, and an update that I'm putting out soon should make the jumpscares and monsters more troublesome. Thanks again for the feedback!
Story: “Insanity,” I love it! I have always loved the word: “Insanity.” If you can’t tell already, I also love “writing.” Anyway, this map has a story. Which is shocking, why? I don’t see maps like this come every-day. I mean, insanity is a hard story to pull-off successfully. (A story with insanity*) What I loved about this map, is there story’s focus on “Diary Entries.” Loved it. (Don’t ask why I used caps.)
5/10 – Although you tried, you didn’t bring much “Insanity” to the table. Which is what I expected in the first place. Honestly, I award you for trying. It is difficult to write a story based around Insanity. It really is… I’ve tried, and managed to do it. B-but before, I failed to make it feel like Insanity.
Atmosphere: Not bad. I will reward you for adding the blindness effect. Although, it is used far-too often. Which is not a problem, I’ve grown to like it. Some have grown to hate it. Over-all, the atmosphere was quite interesting. The place you start off in makes you feel alone. Reading the diary entries made me feel even more alone. And then… the ending just ruined the sense of aloneness. 6/10
Sounds: Great attempt at making haunting sounds. I found them quite daunting in some areas. However, it is not used in the right way in a majority of areas around the map. I feel you could improve on this, add the sounds where necessary. Adding them in the areas you’ve put them in, it just feels cheap. Sorry… there has been a lot of reviews today, but this one needed the truth to be told. – And that’s the way I feel about the sounds, you haven’t failed whatsoever. You have achieved the sounds in some areas. 5.5/10
Effects: Blindness and some rooms added some nice effects. Apart from that, I was disappointed. 3.5/10
Build: Not bad again, I loved the builds in some rooms. The interior kept me interested, it made me feel alone. It felt so spacious, that I actually was going a little bit insane. – And the Parkour made me insane a few times! (Pun-intended.) 4.5/10 +5 for the ending!
Total Rating: 20/50 – Over-all Score: A Wild Heck of a Time!
Thanks for the feedback, this is exactly what I need to make the map as best as it can possibly be. I actually agree with most of your points and I can see where you're coming from, although I don't know how all of those numbers go into 20 . I will definitely take your ideas into consideration for the next part, you seem like a pretty smart guy.
Well, I add the total score up from the review on certain categories. 5.5 + 1.5 = 7 5+5 = "1"
I hope that helps. I like Math & English. I'm just that kind of Guy :3 xD
Ah. I wasn't aware that you skipped certain categories . Thanks for the help, the next part is gonna be even better now.
Great map with a few great scares. However, I don't think the insanity worked out so well, you need to think like a crazy person. Maybe a tp effect where the scene becomes twisted but then goes back to normal as you keep going, idk. Also a minor bug with the zombie jumpscare mechanism. As we all know, there's a 5% chance that everytime a zombie is spawned it will be a zombie villager. This happened at the end of my Lets Play, the zombie villager spawned, thus it probably removed the scary part in the game. Also, this is the same for zombie villagers. I don't think this bug is fixable, but I hope you can find a way. Other than that, still a great map!

Mind putting it on the front?
Wow, TWO of the three playthroughs of this map that I know of have had that small chance happen with the Zombie. Don't worry though, I have it fixed in the WIP next part with a little command block magic.
I know that I didn't really hit the insanity part too well, and I should have paid more attention to it. However, that was the first part of five. A guy can only take so much, so him going insane in the first part would limit the surprise factor of the later parts.
this map was great, what's your progress on the second part of the map series?
I have a lot of new ideas for the second part, and I've started development using new music and custom block models. Since I spent so much time bugfixing the first part, the second is in very early development. I'm not going to set any release dates, 'cause if I do I always miss them. I'm definitely inspired to make it, and I'm probably going to start releasing preview screenshots very soon.

It's MAHTAMATO.
Nope, only when I tell them to.
It's MAHTAMATO.
Thanks! I probably poured 20+ hours of my time into this, so I'm happy that I provided the scares necessary ;).
