Build the Machine (BTM) genre maps are similar to the Complete the Monument (CTM) maps made popular by Vechs, AMLP, etc - where your overall goal being to complete a monument. Same idea here except each dungeon contains a redstone component instead of wool. As you add them to The Machine (a redstone based monument) it'll unlock the next set of dungeons. These maps also contain a story element that unfolds via in-game books.
ZERO redstone experience is required - See the in-game map rules for full details!
Important Note: This is the an update of the original map. It includes a ton of improvements and bug fixes based on player feedback!. Please report any issues you encounter!
Requires Minecraft Snapshot 14w05b (1.8) or higher
Supports 1-2 players max
Playtime: About 10 hours
Known issues:
Running the map in a 1.7.x or lower cause cause chests to appear empty and chunks to load improperly.
The snapshots (as of posting this) are causing item frames to pop off walls and disappear. If this occurs please consult the spoiler list below for referencing what item frames to build in each dungeon.
Titan (overworld) - Lever (for blue dungeon)
Atlantis - Redstone Block (for green totem)
Ebonmarsh - Repeater (for black dungeon)
Antimatter - Iron Pressure Plate (for red dungeon)
Ashen Lands - comparator AND light sensor (for cyan dungeon)
Several years after the events of The Source you find yourself on the desert world Titan. The dark substance known as 'The Corrupt' has has continued to consume and destroy everything in it's path. Do you have what it takes to discover the source of this dark power and defeat it?
Note: You are not required to play The Source to start or enjoy this map.
Requires Minecraft 1.6 or higher
Supports 1 player
Playtime: About 10 hours
You awaken aboard an abandoned station floating through space. The core is damaged, leaving you no choice but to track down and craft replacement parts found within a variety of exotic dimensions. You'll overcome waves of monsters, platforming, and puzzles in your quest to discover what happened. Do the answers lie in the mysterious set of manuscripts left behind by the shadowy figure known only as The Source?

It's linear with a centralized hub that allows you to teleport to each dungeon. Clearing a dungeon will reward you with a Machine Part, you then use this part to unlock next dungeon. I'd love to do branching, but it does't work as well with a story.
Oookay, I just realized that I need the latest snapshot to make the map work. But now I have a different problem; there doesn't seem to be any machine part schematic at the end of the first area.
This is a bug due to the snapshot. It forces all item frames to pop off the walls. The first machine part you should build in the dungeon is a Redstone block and it goes in the green totem. If you have issues with other dungeons I've provided a spoiler list below. I'd recommend bumping up to the next snapshot versions as they come out to hopefully resolve this.
Titan (overworld) - Lever (for blue dungeon)
Atlantis - Redstone Block (for green totem)
Ebonmarsh - Repeater (for black dungeon)
Antimatter - Iron Pressure Plate (for red dungeon)
Ashen Lands - comparator AND light sensor (for cyan dungeon)

Thanks for trying out the map!
Thank you for the help! I'll definitely keep this in mind.
Posting this here incase the other thered is not active!
Looks really nice, so does the Titan map! I am going to giving them both a shot.
Edit: Just a quick question, is Titan a CTM too?
Edit #2: I have seem to encountered a problem; When I teleport to the purple wool area, I fall into a unloaded world, or an unloaded section of the world, I tried to reopen the world but when I do so, I get teleported to the 'Set Spawn Point' button in the space station.
-
5 Minutes after 'Edit #2', after a bunch of times of reloading the world and re-entering it, I managed to get into the purple wool area; But, another bug, the area doesn't load properly, I'm glitching and signs seem to be not loading.
- 2 Minutes have passed and it seemed to have fixed itself, weird bug though..
Edit #3: I'm still having problems with purple wool area, It's almost like am lagging, like I'm having connection issues to a server or something; I followed the path down and tried to break into the 1st glass box with the chest in it, I broke the glass it and it came back after a couple of seconds. Please look into this problem (I have finished the green wool area with no problem)
Edit #4: Just a theory, the area could be possibly corrupted by major MCEdit edits; Or, it could be redstone at the area of those chunks that generates lag-like activity (Happened to me before)
Edit #5: Some time has passed, I load the map and... this happens,
Edit #6: Uhm, I just tried to play The Source 2: Titain, and I'm having the same issue as TheCultPersonali; None of the chest have items in them.
- Both of your Source series maps have major issues and bugs in them, the kind that doesn't make the map play able. I'd recommend that you try to fix them ASAP; I really do like how this maps looks, and I'd love to play it, but with those kind of issues, it's impossible.
Hey dude, I wanna start by saying this looks like a totally incredible map!
But i'm having a ton of trouble
None of the chests have items in, theres a load of wall frames all over the floor and i assume this is incorrect?
Just wondering if you knew whats happening?
Many thanks

Hey TemplarEnoch, it sounds like you're not using the snapshot version of Minecraft. This is required per the note in the OP:
Requires Minecraft Snapshot 14w05b (1.8) or higher
Please let me know if the issues persist after updating. Also. please note the issue I mentioned in the reply above...this snapshot features a bug that causes item frames to pop off walls. This is not something I can resolve (I actually replaced every item frame and the issue persists).
Thank you for reporting the issues and I hope you can enjoy the map soon!

Hi TheCultOfPersonality, please follow my directions above. You will need to update to the latest snapshot of Minecraft. Thanks again for trying the map and reporting issues!
If either of you are unclear on how to update, please let me know and I'll explain the steps. It's really easy with the new launcher!
Yeah sorry, whilst im good at minecraft im a complete technological noob i thought i had the most updated version of minecraft?
No problem, there is "up to date" and then there's the snapshots. If you're familiar with betas or test software that's the most apt similarity I can draw. Snapshots are the weekly test versions of the upcoming version of Minecraft, released by Mojang.
Before explaining how to use them, I'll preface this by stating that ALL test software is prone to bugs, big and small. I'm not liable for any issues you experience related to the snapshot and game itself. That said, I tend to run the snapshots frequently and have never experienced any major issues. The biggest issue in the latest snapshots are the item frames popping off.
Here's how to enable the snapshot versions:
Start your Minecraft launcher, but don't press Play
Click Edit Profile from the bottom left
Enable the checkbox for "enable experimental development versions (Snapshots)"
Save your profile
When you click play the new snapshot version should be downloaded
You should see the version number displayed in the bottom corner on the start screen
You'll be updated to the full release of version 1.8 just like everyone when it comes out.
Working perfectly, thank you so much, ill let you know how i get on but i just want to thank you for making sure the fans of your map are taken care of.
Glad to hear! Keep me posted on your progress if you run into anything else. You guys are the reason I made the map, so if it's not working then I'm failing at my job

No problem! The new snapshot was released yesterday and while I don't see any official bugfix notes pertaining to the item frame issue, it's possible it was resolved. If anyone can confirm that would be great!
If the issue persists I might need to do one more bugfix update.
Whenever I attempt to enter the Silent Realm, I teleport and see nothing except for the sun and the moon. Then I just stay in midair and nothing happens. I've tried saving and quitting, but that just takes me to the time right before I pressed the button to enter the Silent Realm. Could anyone help me? I'd appreciate it.

Hi Yoshi2day, what version of Minecraft are you trying to play the map? If possible try a different version using your launcher settings and see if that helps. Also, try deleting and downloading the map again...perhaps your save file was corrupted when unzipping the files. I've seen that happen a couple times.
If you continue to have issues I'll try to replicate the issues on my end. Thanks and hope you enjoy the map!

I think I'll have to redownload the map, thanks. I'm playing in the latest snapshot, which is what I think I'm supposed to play on. Thanks!
Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure the item frame bug is fixed.

As per 14w11b and freshly downloaded Titan v2.0 beta 1 the Item-Frames still pop off the wall. PS: Only partially, also encountered item frames still up the wall.
Sorry to hear that. I'm not really sure what I can do to resolve this other than going in and replacing every item frame in the game. If I'm going to do that it's probably best to wait until we get a stable build (basically when 1.8 is released). Otherwise it may not be a permanent fix.
Just a bit of feedback from both maps, but especally Titan. The Vine Zombies early on? Really /really/ obnoxious. (As in not fun, since sitting around waiting for health to regen to continue fighting is annoying). Will have a bit more when the other half of the map is done, but these and these alone have made that area tedious as opposed to challenging. Also... is the pigmy village ment to be hostile? 'cus it wasn't. At all.
You can blame the people that complained the first map was too easy This is a sequel map, and as such will be a bit higher difficulty. I've heard people say that after Ebonmarsh (you're current area) that things taper off a bit, so I'll leave that to you to judge.
Yes the pigmy village should be hostile. I noticed a weird bug where they can spawn non-hostile versions for the first or second spawn, then they will spawn properly. This is literally a bug in the game/MCEdit so there's not a lot I can do about that unfortunatly.
Hey Grimdeath! It's me, I was the first LPer of The Source (although I never actually finished it due to lag ) Looking forward to playing Titan and I may even LP it!
Nice, yeah I remember you Facetious. Your favorite space cow might make a reappearance in this one Just be aware that I went a little more extreme with the design, so framerate not be improved. There may be a couple things you can do though.
I'd suggest turning down the render distance and disable the tree transparency on the second map if you run into issues. Hopefully that helps!
