I managed to get quite a lot of stuff done this week. The major ones are finishing Lime area and, thus, Intersection II and finishing Gray area. I also made the proper entrance to Intersection III as well as updated all of the teleporters' "brains" to recognize if player have found Intersection 3 and let him properly teleport to it.
On the side of more minor changes, I flew through the completed part of the map and added some decorations, just to make it look a bit better. I also changed some of custom loot and made sure that there will be no remnants of older loot.
Now a little bit about my plans for the upcoming week. I want to start either Cyan or Light Gray areas, (or both), and also start and finish Brown wool. Because Brown wool is a "joke" wool, it's not gonna be large or difficult, just a place for player to relax and have fun (or rage ;D).
After finishing either of these three areas I will start making the Purple one, and probably build the Intersection IV itself.
And in a lot more distant future, Black wool should take the most time out of all of the other areas of Intersection IV, as It's gonna be massive, consisting of ~3 different parts.
Getting back to reality, let's make this a proper update post and get a new screenshot here:
Dev. Update №16 (idontknowwhattoputhere edition)
The first half of the week was kind of productive, I finished the landscape for Light Gray area and tried out my idea for Brown. Sadly, the latter one didn't work as I wanted it to, so I'm rethinking that area. I have some ideas that could work, but I still have to test them. I also got to making the "body" of Intersection 4, but I still am not sure how I want it to look.
Just as a quick update, (inside another update ;D), SP02 is ~62% complete at the moment. With the speed that I'm working, I can already say that it's taking me more time than Animosity, but quality is always better than speed, right?
The second part of the week I was busy with another non-minecraft related project, as I started to slowly burn out. I feel like changing my work schedule will clear my mind and give me some new ideas, so I'm gonna try to do that.
And as we get to the end, a traditional screenshot (WIP, wip, you can even see a little house-thing at the left :D):
Guys, it's here again, Dev. Update №17 (is there even a point to put something here?)
The progress was insignificant - I basically got more details in Light Gray area, but it's still not finished. The main problem with it taking so long is that there is a stupid amount of hand work - each house I have to build by hand, and each I have to spend at least 30 minutes on, which makes it a really annoying and repetitive work. I think I need to get ~5 more buildings there, including the main building with the wool. After that I'll get to Cyan area and finally finish Brown wool. The completion of Intersection III will mean that the map is 75% complete, which is a big milestone to me.
Sadly, I have to say that the progress will slow down from now on, I have problems IRL that are taking away quite a lot of time, so I can't do as much as I would like to. I'm still going to release updates each weekend, but there might not be any significant progress in them, they might branch off to a more theoretical and talky ones.
Either way, the screenshots are staying, so I shall release another one, which is an update on Light Gray area:
And also, I think I found something that'll scare the crap out of everyone in Black wool area, I just can't wait to start working on it. ;D
Ooo, that looks really nice with the new additions
Thanks! Though, that's not the final look of the area, (I actually just finished building some stuff in it). The aesthetic part of it is done, the only think I have left to do is to get loot and spawners going, hopefully I'll be able to do that before the update tomorrow. Also, I don't think I'll show any more screenshots of that area, just so it'll still be kind of a secret. Which means I have to think about what to show tomorrow.
February 1 2014 Edit: Dev. Update №18 (oh progress, is it finally you?)
Yes, progress it is. I finally finished Light gray area, which was a huge pain to make, so I'm not doing another village-type area in this map ;D But seriously, I enjoyed this challenge as a map-maker, it definitely was fun, (alongside with pain), and I'm happy with how it turned out.
Now, what I want to do is finally finish Brown wool, preferably in the first half of the upcoming week. Then get my hands on Cyan and, thus, almost finish Intersection 3, ("almost' is there because we all know that I'm not that type of guy who would be able to make an area in 3-4 days :D).
Also, guys, I want to ask you a question - should I put a villager-trader in intersections, so player would have the ability to sell some of the junk that will eventually pile up? Stuff like flesh, spider eyes etc.
And le screenie for today:
I'm not done with this area, I'll most certainly get some colors going in there, now it's kind of dull.
When I played your first map, the gameplay was surprisingly good for a first map, but the aesthetics were average. Considering that this map looks amazing aesthetic-wise and I know the gameplay will be great from playing map #1, I'm not kidding when I say this could be one of the best CTM maps ever made. Every screenshot of the second map you put out looks fantastic and just makes me want to play it more and more.

Thanks for the kind words. It feels really good to see that you guys are enjoying the "teasers" I'm putting out, but I feel that you shouldn't get your expectations too high. I'm trying to make something that is good, but there is no way I'm thinking that it could be marked as "one of the best CTM ever made".
Though, I'm putting all my experience in this map, so it should be good.
_____
On a side note, I finished Brown area, so now I'm starting Cyan, after which - Purple. Both of these are big-dungeon type areas in concept, but I have some stuff in mind to make them both interesting.
Would you guys look at my thread if I put up dev notes?
Ugh, I think you posted this in the wrong tread. CTM Community would work better, as there is a lot of active people there, (and it actually is about general CTM stuff).
Phew, this week was a little bit insane.
There is not a real lot of stuff going on with the building process. I managed to finish Intersection 4, which turned out to be bigger than some of the actual areas in the map. I also started doing the landscape for the Cyan area, but it's far from being finished, as the main part of the area is supposed to be a castle-like structure, (kinda like Hellfire Citadel from Animosity). I'm not sure if I will post any pictures of it, I feel like I'm revealing a bit too much of the map at this point.
Not let's talk about the reason I'm going insane, shall we? At one moment I started looking through my custom loot in TMI and thinking "This thing won't work, there is not enough items here" And then I see Sketch's idea of a loot system that involves Terraria-like modifier system.
Boom, prefixes. Having a ton of prefixed custom items is perfect for my needs, (I did ask Sketch for permission to use them). So, guess what I was doing the second half of the week?
Yup, now I'm sitting here with 799 custom items, including tools, armor, weapons and potions, (the fact that I'm 1 item short from the number 800 really es me off :|). I'm too lazy to actually count, but there is about ~115 different prefixes, some of which could be encountered on almost any type of item.
And yeah, I don't have the courage to do all the diamond gear right now. I will make it later if there will be a need for it.
If you really want to feel the pain I was going through while making all these items, have a look:
I know, this was a cheap way to not show any parts of the map while still having screenshots at the end.
I will probably take a day or two off from working on the map, just so I stop seeing all these shiny items everywhere.
@Mapdev #19: Wow, my jaw dropped when I saw that, good job, must have taken a lot of patience.
It was pretty insane, I think it took me about 2 hours to make the list of all of the prefixes, then probably 4 hours or so to make the items and sort some stuff out.
Sketch was able to create the concept of a very flexible loot system that I have never seen before in CTMs, so this is an expected outcome that mapmakers get inspiration from it.
I'm writing all my modifiers and what they mean down in a word document first before i actually make them...i'm not entirely looking forward to it XD
The things that carried me through this madness were films and music. Without any kind of entertainment this process becomes a nightmare.
I shall wish you both to stay in your mind after making and sorting all the items. : D
When I load up the save, everything except the item frames, their contents and the text next to them is invisible. There's the black outline, but I can see right through them (I also can't see myself O.o). I recently installed a fresh jar because I had a few problems, so I don't see what is causing this problem. Help?
Are you hiring anyone to help with the building (by building I mean redstone, like mobs, traps, ect.) of any new maps or WIP maps for the series? Because if so, I may be able to assist you. Even if it's just for beta testing. ~Catnip (Redstone engineer and mapmaker.)

Progress really got going last week or so, I feel refreshed and ready to make stuff happen.

Looks very promising! I think it'll be really cool to see the modifier system being used in other maps besides my own.

Very deserving, now the map will get the recognition it should.
