I just started playing this map and so far I'm enjoying it.

Thank you so much NTBBPG for playing the map and doing a video! That is awesome. I really enjoyed watching how someone else approaches the map. I hope you'll do more because it was well done and entertaining Going to link it to the top of the post. THANK YOU!
Thank you JuggerBlocky for linking my video to the top of the post. I have done another video.
Wow. I can't wait . When do you think you will be releasing the next version?
It should be soon. Progress so far:
Improved Fire Temple 100% complete
Added Water Temple 100% complete
Large Dungeon #1 100% complete
Large Dungeon #2 approx 50% complete
Abandoned Mine approx 75% complete
I don't know if I will add a third dungeon on this version or not. I may just leave it for the future. I found myself trying to add traps, spawners, "treasure" chests and tbh it's getting wayy too adventure map and way less survival map. I don't want to tip the scale and give the player too many goodies (though the dungeons fill with monsters pretty darn quick so it would be a risky venture to try and plunder them). I already did 2 pass troughs taking out excessive stuff,
I would also like to revisit the challenge blocks and see if there's some stuff I can add / fix. Most of them are your typical grinding survival chores (collect/craft x amount of y object, etc) and it would be really nice to have some off the wall and fun challenges to break up the monotony.

Great! I added it to the top of the post as well. Your video pointed some things out to me so I edited the rules a bit for future players
FYI as you found zombie flesh doesn't always 100% nauseate you anymore. I was expecting some players would eat disgusting stuff like that to sustain themselves until they got a little farm going. Or they could always fish as you did. Nice trick of night fishing through a "window" lol Have to remember that one.

I ate a ton of zombie flesh on my first play through. I didn't think about a fishing rod, really. I had to start over though because my trees didn't give me any saplings, then a creeper blew up my chickens, and then a skellie killed me so I just gave up and started over. My second time around seems to be going better though since I know what needs to be done first.
Any hints on where I can find other saplings? I didn't go to any of the temples or dungeons because I wanted to have a good supply of food and I was still mostly eating zombie flesh.

Hi RayN1009,
Glad your second time through is going better It is a harder map than it first appears.
I may have made a mistake with the tree. Because it is setup as a custom tree (tried to make it look like a palm tree) the leaves were hand placed and I *think* maybe that hand placed leaves do not drop saplings so that definitely could be an issue... maybe I need to either plant a sapling or hide one around the oasis... I have gotten some saplings from the wood, but as you experienced this is not always guaranteed :/
There's IS at least one other place on the map that has a multitude of saplings but it's hidden far away in a very dangerous area designed for later when you have more powerful weapons and armor...
I'll try to address this better in a v1.2 when I can, but for now if you don't get saplings off the first tree you are kind of in a bad spot. I never had it happen in my test playthroughs. I always lucked out and got at least one sapling. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

I do get a sapling from that first tree, but I usually only get about 3 trees, in total. Like get one sapling, then that ones drops two, then the other two don't drop any... I got the wood from the mine shaft and that helps a lot, I just get really nervous when I run out trees and worry I'll run out of wood. I've been thinking of running to the lava temple and trying to get a bucket of lava to make a cobble stone generator.
Also, just saw that the cobblestone generator is one of the challenges. And this time I haven't run out of trees yet.

Ahhhh I see what you mean. I'm not an expert, but I *think* the best way to do trees is let them grow a bit or help them along (I hear skeletons also make GREAT fertilizer ) and then when you harvest let the leaf blocks decay on their own 9as opposed to punching them). I know spaling drops USED to be much higher whne you let the leaves decay on their own. Now the initial tree WON'T decay because I hand placed the leaf blocks so you'll likely need to clear those away on your own.
Cobblestone Generator is a must as you need the stone to upgrade your tools. Plus making sandstone takes a TON of sand so the generator will help make that a lot easier for you as well. If you want any other ores/materials you'll have to dig deep (and I do mean DEEP )
Good luck with your world! Thx for playing my map and post pics of anything extraordinary that you do
Oh wow that is quite the base you have going there! Nice job! You guys are doing great with it so far
I confess that even though I have played Minecraft for years I have never actually played on multiplayer (shocker I know! What is up with that??) So i'll need to some investigating as to what needs to be done to convert a map to multiplayer (maybe it's as simple as setting mutiplayer spawn points with MCEdit or something). I'll definitely add that if possible to a v1.2 update.
I've been fixing a few things that I keep noticing on the map. Would like to add some new challenges as well and maybe a new areas to explore and things to find (I still don't have wolves or ocelots anywhere that a player could obtain... maybe something like a cat & dog temple LOL ) Don't want to update it too frequently though... That sucks for people who have already gotten a decent start in the version they have.
In celebration here are some "spoiler pics" of stuff we've been working on this weekend for the next version:

Version 1.1 of this map is now available at the top of this thread.
Let me know what works and what doesn't about all the added features.
Thank you
Please be sure to let me know what works and what doesn't on this map.
What do YOU think would make it better?
Glad to hear it! Let me know what else I should add
Great! If you do let me know your thoughts. Thanks

WOOT! That's wonderful news. Thanks so much Bworms1980 for pointing it out!
Awesome! More video! Thank you SO MUCH for doing that!
I'm off to watch all of these cool videos about Oasis Survival!
(I'll update the thread shortly with all the new links )
My husband are about to play together, it would be cool if you updated with a multiplayer version. <3 We're good at sharing though.
We really love this map, awesome job.
This the co-op with my husband so far! He built the wall after a double creeper explosion blew up the hut and all but one of our wheat seeds.
I'm pretty sure he is my sappy lucky charm.
