How to get maps on 1.6.*?

How do you download maps onto minecraft 1.6.*? on the new launcher its confusing, im on a mac, but you windows users can still tell me, its most likely the same! Help? Thx!

It is the same, but texture packs are now resource packs and should be in the Resourcepacks folder

Weird, Because I put in the map to the saves file, it didnt work...
