Welcome Letter:
Dear Steve,
We received your resume recently, and appreciate your interest in the Brolly Corporation. After reviewing your application, we have some good news and some bad news for you.
The good news is that we're going to offer you a job.
The bad news is that there seems to have been a minor leak of our ZomPoster™ Virus into the wild.
You'll be going into our test facility to see if you can find a way to survive, fight them, and build the basis for a functioning society from mangled zombie corpses the resources available to you.
Please be aware that we do not want you to attempt to completely stop ZomPosters™ from spawning, but instead to use them as resources in a simulated attempt at rebuilding society from a major outbreak.
It will be quite some time before the virus becomes widespread enough to be a problem, but we would appreciate it if you could complete your stated objectives as quickly as possible.
The future of humanity rests with you, Steve. God speed.
Sincerely,
Adele Paulsen Head of Human Resources Brolly Corporation
Regulations:
Inside the terrarium, please do not remove, alter, or destroy any materials if at all possible. You may place lights and ladders, but add as little as possible besides those items. Outside, you may build freely.
We also recommend that you do not destroy the TeleporTemple™ boxes or wiring, as it would be detrimental to your work.
Should you find any ZomPoster™ virus colonies (they form into square metallic-looking lattices with a tiny version of their ZomPoster™ type inside), do not destroy them. They are critical to our your research!
Our safety consultants suggest building inward toward the box for maximum structural integrity and to lessen the psychological damage caused by living in a featureless void.
Do not under any circumstances sleep inside the terrarium, as doing so may cause death or colonization.
Regulations (Simple English):
Don't break the glass. Don't take, break, or change things inside the box. You may place lights and ladders, but don't add too many other blocks. Outside the box, you can build anywhere.
Don't break the teleporters, redstone, or command blocks.
If you find any spawners, do not break them.
Build in from the ring of land toward the box, not out into the void.
Don't sleep in the box!
Goals:
A Balanced Diet: Please create sustainable sources of at least one vegetable, fruit, starch, and meat product (fish counts).
Sweet Tooth: Fill a small container with desserts.
Homemaker: Please build a prototype home containing a bed, water basin, storage, a work bench, and a furnace.
Interior Decorator: Add at least one potted plant, framed object, and painting (you will not be judged on your artistic skills).
Arboretum: Cultivate each of the four available types of trees.
Botanical Gardens: Add a decorative garden with at least three types of non-tree plants and a fountain.
Transportation Infrastructure: Please design and build a rail system linking the four TeleporTemples™.
Bells & Whistles: Protect your rails from weather and add chimes at the stations.
Birdwatcher: Find and defeat at least one specimen of all 14 ZomPoster™ types in each of the four biomes.
Birdstalker: Write down the general area or coordinates where each type can be found.
Trial By Fire: Build an obsidian gate and defeat the ZomPosters™ on the other side.
No Ocean Deep Enough: Find the treasures even the ZomPosters™ haven't gotten to.
Happily Ever After: Build a gate to The End, defeat the ZomPosters™ there.
God Mode: Loot The End completely.
Good Work, Redone: Find all 10 of the researcher's numbered journals, plus any other notes.
Tips (General Advice):
The biomes in order of difficulty are Forest, Jungle, Taiga, and Extreme Hills.
Zombies are easier to kill in less difficult biomes, but they drop fewer resources.
Explore the surface areas of biomes during the day to get a feel for the land with fewer zombies.
The first tool you make should be a sword. The second and third ones probably should be too.
The four main biomes can be navigated without placing any blocks inside, if you're good at parkour!
Don't be afraid to duck in, take out a few zombies, and duck out again! Hit and run tactics are encouraged.
There are hidden treasures to be found. Don't hesitate to explore!
I highly recommend playing with keep inventory on. You will die. A lot.

Current Version: 1.2
Immense thanks to all of my beta testers!
How I Made Things In This Map:
Lots of time, MCEdit, and these filters by Sethbling: AddPotionEffect, ChangeMobs, ColorArmor, CombineSpawners, CreateGearedMobs, CreateRotatedSolid, CreateSpawners, Enchant, ModifyItemStrings, ModifyPotions, PlayerSkulls, SetSpawnerProperties, and Floating Island. Also like 100+ command blocks.
Feel free to message me if you'd like an explanation of how I did anything in this map! I'll post answers as I receive questions.
I have tested this map in beta prior, and as far interesting survival style maps, I vouche for Raecchi! Worth a download if you are into this style of gameplay.

Awesome! Once you've got the first video up, could you PM me the link so I can put it in the main post? Thanks.
This is a really awesome, inventive, and unique map! Thank you Raecchi! I hope you keep making fun survival maps like this. I had an idea for your next map. It would be a map where you start in a spawn area with teleporters: one leads to a villager ( or several ) who trades tokens for Items, one leads to a villager ( or several ) who trades items for Tokens, and a third leads to a place to build and farm recourses to get more tokens and buy more items. I tried to make this but I am not a map maker, and had trouble. I got this idea from the old versions of the mod equivalent exchange and from the addition of villager trading. If you are interested in making this but are not sure what I am talking about follow up with a pm. Once again I loved your map and hope you keep making maps of the same type even if you dont go with this idea.
This is a really awesome, inventive, and unique map! Thank you Raecchi!
Thanks for checking out the map! Glad you liked it, and I've sent you a PM about your idea.
I'm not sure I'm likely to make more maps exactly like this one, though I did briefly consider making a version that was all skeletons. I think everyone would just die and rage constantly though. XD
This was an awesome map! I loved playing it, especially when pvp was on and my friend was with me. However, I found that it got a little repetitive after a while, just punching zombies and swinging swords at them.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, at least mostly. I agree it gets repetitive after a while, which is why all (or almost all) of the goals are built around construction and exploration. Any suggestion for what I could change or add to the map?
I enjoyed it! 14/20 - here is the full review for you.
Thanks for reviewing the map, and I'm glad you liked it! I admit one of my favorite parts is the new death messages with the named zombies. (The winner so far is "Player tried to swim in lava to escape Redstone Ore.") The repetitive nature of the map is definitely its biggest problem -- I'm not sure I'll make another map quite like this one, but I hope other people do so I can see what happens to this sort of new genre.
Hey this looks really awesome going to download do you mind if i do a play through of it on my new channel to start it
I would be thrilled if you make videos of my map, and I will watch every one and post the first one on the thread! I love watching people play my map. Just PM me a link to the first video once you've got it up.
Increased some shop prices; slightly altered food options
Increased item to xp converter xp amount
Made nether lava oceans slightly easier to travel
Added an extra secret in the nether
Removed switch to adventure mode inside the box
Added a button to change time to day
Minor artistic changes to teleporters, chest contents, etc.
I'm considering adding an achievement system for some things, like finding the hidden chests, number of kills, etc. in a future update.
Thanks again to my many excellent beta testers, and to the two people currently doing Let's Plays of the map. Check out MineGamesHG and i212MC to see more videos of the map (the first ones are in the main post) and subscribe if you enjoy their work!
As several other people have said, the kicker that made this map so incredible is the innovative concept. I played this map for several hours with the intention of exploring everything (rather than generally surviving.) As I found when my brother played through it later, I failed miserably, considering that I missed several species of zombies which he subsequently found That gives you several points anyway, for thinking up 70+ different kinds of zombies. But besides the concept and variety, I loved the Aperture Science-esque humor and other snarky remarks, not to mention the story, that took the edge off of the repetitive bashing of zombies- plus the well-designed XP shop.
If I were to make one complaint on an otherwise fantastic map, I didn't really appreciate the swearing in the journals. I understand the emotions you were trying to convey, but it doesn't seem to fit with the overall theme of the map.
That said, great job with everything else. This map should have more rep than it does, let's keep it up on the first page!

Thank you for playing, and for heaping so much praise on my map -- and thank you for honest criticism!
After watching the people doing LPs of my map, I had been reconsidering the profanity. At the time I was developing the map, I thought nothing of it, but I realize the community I've released it to is all over the place in terms of age range and whether or not they care about swear words. As the map is meant to be accessible to everyone, and someone's now openly mentioned the swearing, I think I'll go through and either remove it or change it to something a bit milder at the very least.
EDIT: I think I've managed to remove all the profanity or, in one instance, replace it with crazy scrolling characters. So ZomBeatBox is now more PG rated, at least in that regard.
Added 34 achievements, all of which can be checked through the new achievements room. Telepad is in the Options Room, by the specimen cages. There are hints and answers for all the achievements as well, in case you get stuck!
I got the idea for the achievements from Ale_AKA_Sine, after playing his excellent map, The First Time I Die -- go check it out! I've used the idea with his kind permission.
At this point, I think the map is more or less complete to my satisfaction. This will probably change as ideas strike me or feedback comes in, but for now the map shouldn't change too much in the near future.
I've hit 700+ downloads in three and a half weeks, and I'm completely blown away by everyone's comments and support. Thanks to everyone who has played the map thus far!
I have only "completed" the first 2 areas but i will give my input so far. I really like the concept of the hunting enemies for supplies. The best part for me is the repetition of everything being a zombie. How often can you really use smite on a "spider"? Before the completion of this map i will probably have some over-detailed chart for myself to know where everything is.The comedy in some of the parts are nice as well.
The only negative thing i have found so far is the lack of an official place to set up (I may have just missed it.) I would like a place to throw all my stuff and make better as i find more pieces.
But all in all i find this to be a really enjoyable map. Keep up the good work.
Ps. Mob ontop of Jungle tree.... Best... Mob... Ever!

Hahaha, yes! I'm so glad you found that secret mob. It's my favorite. XD
I never actually considered an "official" living space, though I'm not sure why. I'd always intended people to just build inward from the ring and make their own home, but most people just throw down some chests and call it good. The ring's perfectly safe, so I guess it's not a huge problem no matter what people do. (On one of my own playthroughs, I built a huge jungle tree house on the spawn platform. Then I fell off and died a lot. >.>)
It's great that you're charting where zombies spawn (it's actually one of the goals!) -- I tried to leave visual clues for all the non-secret ones, and people generally seem to figure that out over time. I'm kind of tempted to post my huge lists of what each zombie in each area drops and drop rates, but I'm not sure if anyone wants spoilers like that. Given enough time, people can probably figure out which zombie drops what, and I think most people get that the harder area zombies drop more, at least.
Anyway, thanks for playing, and I'm glad you're enjoying it!
