I'm not going to write up a proper update for it until later, but I've already cleared the first area with 0 deaths and both the wool and record safely tucked away in my base. I guess that's partially due to prior knowledge of the first 6-ish areas, but I like to think it was pure skill. Thankfully the lag isn't too bad, although I do have literally everything turned way down on my Optifine settings, so...
If I remember correctly, Dormant Mines was a trainwreck for anybody without a top-notch computer. Was that alleviated any in the recent release, or is it still going to be the "What if" of my playthrough, leaving me constantly hoping I don't get to that point and then stopped by teleporting creepers and endless block lag?
It's been pretty heavily revamped. It's also in I3 now! I found it to be surprisingly lagless when I tested it.

Thanks for all the work you guys did! I wouldn't be surprised if it was on my end, but it cleared up after I took out the bookshelf area with the silverfish area and the room packed of spawners. I'm not playing on the best of computers, but I normally don't have issues, so who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ah, yeah those silverfish can pile up pretty aggressively down there >.< Glad to hear it's cleared up some!
There's no way you could put the old map up? I already beat the newer version with like 2 deaths and felt so proud because I heard most people quit it soon in. Then I realized I played a different version and just wanted to try to old one for kicks.
Having a super hard time with the left area on I1, not because it's difficult but because
the leaf blocks cause too much lag, even with fast graphics.
I've made it through both the other areas with relative ease (starting with the Sapphire area) but this one I can't get past, whatsoever, due to the amount of lag. I know it's probably my fault because my computer is terrible, but is there anyway to fix this? I have all my other settings down.

Alright! A couple years ago when I first played this, the map beat me to a pulp. So, now that I'm far more experienced, it's time to return the favor. I've conquered some of the hardest CTM maps known to mankind, including most of the Zero Mercy series (Devastation Gauntlet was EZ, btw) and several other ROMHack Hard maps, of which I forget the names of. Even with that being said, this map has haunted me ever since it was released. A collaboration between some of the best map makers of all time? Yes please! It'll actually be difficult, unlike most of the maps on these forums nowadays? Sign me up! What I didn't know, was that this is one of the longest and excruciating maps ever made, and through my first attempt I struggled to even get past the first intersection. So I quit. This map is the only CTM map I have ever ragequit. Ever. I will not let that continue being the case. It's time to beat this thing to a pulp.
The Starting Area seems to have been significantly toned down from the last release. I only ran into a couple mobs that bothered me, and getting up to the record was a piece of cake. I noticed that the loot in the following area was made far more useful and capable of sustaining a person, so that was nice (10ish flint and steels? Whoever made that change really doesn't want people to ragequit the first area). I still noticed a lack in food within chests, but thanks to the fishing poles and good luck with zombie flesh I was able to make it out okay. The netherack area was made far easier, that or I've gotten much better at the game. I hardly noticed any mobs, and getting in and lighting up spawners was easy. The chests were also fairly easy to get, but that's not really notable.
Walking into the temple section of the area (you might even call it a PANTHEON), I realized just how broken zombies could be. Thanks to the knockback II disc, they didn't cause too much of a fuss, but still. The spider area was noticeably different. I could have sworn in the original version there were cave spiders and more spawners in general. It was far easier than usual because of this. Quite nice, actually. I grabbed the wool without any problems, and moved on. The final area was quite easy, with the exception of some bad luck with natural spawns, and the skeleton spawners at the end nearly killed me, but not quite. So yeah, sort of an uneventful area. There are some minor changes I noticed, such as the ghast spawner count being reduced to 1 (probably for the best, if memory serves), but that's about it. I hope that the future updates will be far more exciting to read, but so early into the map I was sort of forced to take the normal path and not do too many interesting things, so once I get lava buckets... it's on.
Oh, and I'm doing this thing deathless if I can. Hard Difficulty. Yeah, I'm crazy.
Minecraft Version: 1.8.1 (Optifine)
Objectives: 1 Wool (White), 1 Record (cat)
Difficulty: Hard
Deaths: Deathless
Future updates will have pictures, but I didn't really make anything worth showing off, so I decided to keep it text only. See ya next time!

Trust me, I guarantee my computer is worse than yours, and that area seems fine to me. If you haven't already, try installing Optifine and turning everything down that you can. If that doesn't help, you may have some other issue.

I have Optifine and still lag quite a bit. Is it a graphics card problem, or would allocating more ram to MC fix it? I can't really tell.

Unlikely. Like I said, it's really, really buggy. I'm less inclined to offer the old version simply for that reason due to extreme lack of balance on some parts and unobtainablility of the wool on others.

I think your best bet might be Optifine, personally. Leaf blocks are horrible though >.<

Sounds like a really solid start for you! The spawn area was definitely toned down in some aspects, as I do want people to at least *see* intersection 1, haha. Thankfully, the difficulty is still there, but I had to strictly balance around 1.8 this time, This meant fewer Zombie Spawners!
I was wondering if someone could post a link to the last 1.52 version of the map. I know the new update is for 1.8, but I have an older laptop that won't run it smoothly. I want to try the map, but until I get a new tower (mine is old and outdated) I have to play on the laptop. So if anyone could link me to the last version before the 1.8 update I would appreciate it
Edit: Or would it be possible to play the new version in 1.5.2 or 1.6.4? The 1.6.4 has the newer zombie and hunger mechanics. that is the only version I can run. My laptop won't run 1.7 and up...

That's rather surprising actually 1.8 is intentionally smoother than the earlier versions, and actually the new launcher even moves away from Java to improve performance! I have taken down the old copy from download due to numerous bugs though, so I won't be putting it back up. It's just nearly unplayable in anything modern. The current version uses some 1.8 stuff as well, so unfortunately it is restricted to 1.8.

I can load up and play 1.8 with Optifine, but I only get around 15 - 20 FPS in a vanilla world. In 1.6 I can get about 30 FPS or more. I'm playing through UT3 in 1.6.4 without much lag so far. I can play in 1.8 with Optifine in a normal world, but just barely. I believe in 1.8 they changed the game mechanics to rely more on the CPU rather than the graphics card. I'm not sure if that's true or not. I have an i5 2.67g processor running Linux Ubuntu and I have Java 8 installed.
Desperately looking for the way to intersection three. Just finished all the areas for Intersection 2....had figured it'd be in Flickering Isles...but, I cannot seem to find the button anywhere. Any hints? Don't need an exact location...just a general reference point to get me going >.<

I'll just tell you that you're looking in the wrong area. It's not in Flickering Isles.
As I was wondering around the monument I found the
end chest and the book 'The End' has an invalid book tag. Also in the disk monument the commands aren't giving the player golden apple since mc no longer goes by ids numbers and instead goes by id_name. I'm saying this since the monument hasn't fully been updated to 1.8 and I'm sure there was another way to light up the lights when the wool is placed, but whatever. Edit: Some of the wool names are too hard to see, the brown, green, red.
