That's rather surprising actually 1.8 is intentionally smoother than the earlier versions, and actually the new launcher even moves away from Java to improve performance! I have taken down the old copy from download due to numerous bugs though, so I won't be putting it back up. It's just nearly unplayable in anything modern. The current version uses some 1.8 stuff as well, so unfortunately it is restricted to 1.8.
I can load up and play 1.8 with Optifine, but I only get around 15 - 20 FPS in a vanilla world. In 1.6 I can get about 30 FPS or more. I'm playing through UT3 in 1.6.4 without much lag so far. I can play in 1.8 with Optifine in a normal world, but just barely. I believe in 1.8 they changed the game mechanics to rely more on the CPU rather than the graphics card. I'm not sure if that's true or not. I have an i5 2.67g processor running Linux Ubuntu and I have Java 8 installed.
Desperately looking for the way to intersection three. Just finished all the areas for Intersection 2....had figured it'd be in Flickering Isles...but, I cannot seem to find the button anywhere. Any hints? Don't need an exact location...just a general reference point to get me going >.<

I'll just tell you that you're looking in the wrong area. It's not in Flickering Isles.
As I was wondering around the monument I found the
end chest and the book 'The End' has an invalid book tag. Also in the disk monument the commands aren't giving the player golden apple since mc no longer goes by ids numbers and instead goes by id_name. I'm saying this since the monument hasn't fully been updated to 1.8 and I'm sure there was another way to light up the lights when the wool is placed, but whatever. Edit: Some of the wool names are too hard to see, the brown, green, red.
So, last time I cleared out the starting area and began preparing for the Orange Wool area. However, I decided that, having playing this part of the map before, I'd run into Magenta and gather resources. What I didn't realize was how totally over the top the loot was. A bucket, Power 5 bow (which I lose in a later dungeon, but it serves me well in the next couple areas. I'm writing these a bit behind in relation to actual map completion, I'm working on getting Light Blue as I write this), and tons of potions. Not bad, especially when you consider that I got lucky with the grass, and tons of passive mobs spawned. Rabbit farm, here I come! Anyways, I gathered stuff from here for a bit, and then worked my way towards the Orange Wool dungeon.
You know how I said I've played the first 2 intersections before? That came in handy. This area is seriously a walk in the park if you know what you're doing. I made a beeline towards the enchantment table, and spent some time setting that up (woo level 30 enchanted stone tools) near my base. The tree itself was rather easy to get up into, the potion spawner at the top of the ladder caught me by surprise, and I had to box up to keep from getting shot (spoiler alert, I don't beat the map deathless, quite the opposite actually, but I don't die here). The record was really easy to get, the cave spiders caused some issues, and zombies were annoying as always, but nothing too bad. By the way, wolf farms! I made one of those instantly. Quite nice to have a large group of canines attacking things, especially when they only attack the regular zombies and not the baby zombies heading straight for you at mach 7 while you have only one heart, thanks wolf (foreshadowing is my specialty).
The top of the tree was a bit different though. You know what they did in 1.5 to zombies? Well, that was the worst change, ever. Seriously, one of these things suddenly turns into an unkillable horde, all because I failed to break a single spawner in time. I had to do quite a bit of tunnel ratting to even progress, and the vines didn't help. The all in all, the wool wasn't too hard to get, just a bit annoying. I escaped the dungeon with all the loot and no deaths, blissfully unaware of what awaited me in the future (seriously, at this point I had named the Power 5 bow the "Deathless Bow". I tend to be really cocky when I've only completed 2/16 of a map).
Oh, and since I promised pictures, here's a small album of my base. I have a rabbit farm, but that was built after I took the pictures, and, well... I'm lazy. So enjoy.
My enchanting setup:
Wolf container:
Cobble Generator (I have no idea why you'd want to see this, but whatever):
Elevated Compact Chicken Holding Pen with built in heating from molten rock below:
My fancy pants tree farm (I later learn that fire + tree farm = tears):
Minecraft Version: 1.8.1 (Optifine)
Game Difficulty: Hard
Objectives: 2 Wool (White, Orange) 2 Records (cat, 13)
Deaths: 0 (at this time)
I could post the next update beside this one, but I'd hate to flood the thread, so... See ya next time!

Also have fun playing the map, its wonderful.
Ooh, thank you for that. I'll look into fixing and updating both of those!
I'm enjoying this map much more since the 1.8 update. I tried this map back in 1.5 and it felt unbalanced and frustrating however now I'm having lots of fun. So I struggled on the entrance to the map because of an abnormal amount of skellies spawning but it wasn't too hard. I got to the title area and it was pretty much the same. To whoever put the 10 flint and steels in the box I thank you. I lit the hell out of the netherack area and got pretty well established however I did die twice in there. The spider room was a breeze honestly and I got through fairly quickly to the wool. It took me awhile to get to I1 but finally got there and transported all my stuff.
From now on this LP is blind, anyway I had gotten a carrot somewhere so I planted it and got a food source running quick (no fishing for me in this map unlike everyone else). I entered the orange wool area and grabbed some coal and planks to make tons of torches. I went through the area without troubles and got the disc and some decent supplies. I shortly found the enchant table and retreated to my base with all the loot. I enchanted stuff and went back inside to find the wool and get out with no troubles whatsoever. Overall I think that was a good dungeon to introduce me to stuff like wood and coal for the first time in this map. It was a little easy in terms of this map though.
Ive read what you said. Is the map as broken in 1.7.19? because I wanted to play it modded and see how much I can break the map with mods. But it's hard to if the loot chests are empty :/

It's basically unplayable and definitely impossible to complete in 1.7. Sorry.

Nice work! Also, did you find 11? I know that disc has tripped up a few people.

Is there a download for an older build. Or can I fix this problem easily?

Sorry, the old copy of the map was a pretty bug-filled affair, so it really was something we'd prefer not to make re-available.
