What is Conquest Arena: Ironwood Valley? Conquest Arena is a custom pvp map-style invented by Elewyth and Zhuriel. It is based off of the "Conquest" gamemode from popular shooters like Battlefield. Ironwood Valley is the first map of this style. We might extend the name "Conquest Arena" to further maps featuring similar play-style in the future.
How does Conquest Arena work? In Conquest Arena there are 2 teams competing for victory. Victory is achieved by either capturing the HQ of the enemy team, or by depleting all of the enemy's lives (referred to as "tickets"). On Ironwood Valley there are 7 different bases, the two HQs and 5 neutral bases, waiting to be captured.
The map is played in adventure mode, which means you are not able to break or place any blocks (with the exception of cake). All the items used for fighting are provided by the map, which increases game pace. Whenever you die, your team loses a ticket. The total amount of tickets each team starts with is configured on the admin-panel. If your team's tickets reach zero, you lose! There is an additional mechanic named "ticket-bleed" which causes your team to periodically lose tickets if the enemy team controls more than half of all bases.
Ironwood Valley is recommended for 6-16 players, which makes it very easy to play even on low-end servers, which do not have the option to play with massive amounts of people. We have never tested the map with more players, but I'm sure it would still be fun
The following rules, game-play information and class guides can be found in written books at the spawn area on the map: Conquest Rules
Do not leave the map boundaries by any means (especially Ender Pearls).
Do not drop items on the ground or exchange items with other players.
Splash Potions may be used on other players, and Cake may be placed for other players to eat.
Do not use Cake-placement to intentionally block passages and make parts of the map unaccessible.
Always wear the Leather Helmet identifying your team.
Always wear the Armor identifying your class.
Do not intentionally use skins that cover up the Skull, as it is used to determine your team.
Do not take any items out of Dispensers, Droppers or Item Frames.
If any of the rules are broken, the Game Admin may decide to end the game by pressing the "Reset Game" button, resulting in a forfeit of the cheating team.
Conquest Guide
Starting a game:
Form 2 teams (White & Black) by having players move to the corresponding side-rooms. A 5-second countdown will start, after the Game-Admin presses the "Start Game" button. After the countdown all players are teleported into the class-selection rooms of their team. IMPORTANT: You may not change team, once the game has started! NOTE: The Game-Admin has to join a side before the countdown ends, if he wishes to participate rather than spectate.
Capturing bases:
Each base has several Pressure Plates located within. Stand on the pads with your team's color to capture a base. The Lamp indicates the current state (White/Neutral/Black). If several players stand on multiple Pressure Plates, the capturing process is sped up significantly. Once a base has been captured, all players of that team may choose to respawn at the captured base. If a base is Neutral, neither team can respawn at that base. NOTE: The HQ of the enemy's team can only be captured, if your team currently controls all other bases. A message, that the enemy's HQ is vulnerable will be broadcast.
If you capture the enemy HQ you win!
Tickets:
The Game-Admin may select the amount of tickets each team starts with (64, 128, 256). There is also an unlimited mode, where each team has unlimited tickets and the game only ends when a HQ is captured. A ticket will be subtracted from your team each time you respawn at any base on the map. Additionally, if at any point in the game a team controls at least 4 bases, the enemy team will constantly lose tickets, even without players respawning.
If your team's tickets reach 0 you lose!
Whenever a team's tickets reach a certain milestone, a message will be broadcast.
Changing class:
You may choose a different class each time you respawn. Additionally, there is a "Change class" Pressure Plate located within both HQs, allowing you to change your class.
End of game:
The game ends, as soon as one team does not have any tickets left, or a team's HQ has been captured.
All players are then teleported back to the starting platform, and the teams are reset.
The Game-Admin can then hit the "Reset Game" button. This will cause all bases and tickets to be reset, so a new round may be played (the process of resetting might take a while - a message will be sent, when resetting has finished).
You can then start a new game, without reloading the map!
Hint:
In each corner of the map there is a buff-station, providing you with Speed and Strength whenever the station is not on cooldown (if the Lamp inside is on, the station is ready!).
Conquest Classes
Charger:
The Charger wields a dangerous diamond blade, cutting through enemy's armors like butter. He may charge an opponent and go into berserk for a period of time. His offensive power comes with a lack in defenses, though.
Bowman:
Being the complete opposite of the Charger, the Bowman specializes in taking down their opponents in ranged combat, having a strong Bow at his disposal. His Leather Armor only provides minor defense.
Mender:
The Mender specializes in healing his allies with Splash Potions, while being able to heal himself with even stronger Health Potions. The Mender also provides solid ranged backup.
Sustainer:
Keeping up a decent pace of fighting is not always easy. This is where the Sustainer comes into play. Providing food, speed and fire resistance he is extremely valuable in long battles and for breaking through stalemates.
Alchemist:
Weakening the enemy by applying harmful effects like poison is the Alchemist's field of expertise, thus giving his allies an edge in combat.
Protector:
While not offering a lot of offensive tools, the Protector is extremely sturdy and provides damage reduction to his team. He may bunker down increasing his defenses greatly at a major cost of movement.
Each time you respawn, you can select a new class to play, whichever you think suits the situation most, or simply is the most fun to play!
What makes Conquest Arena unique?
no mods required
action-packed PvP for small and large groups
progressive and dynamic game-flow by capturing bases and moving the battle-front
detailed landscape with accessible buildings, caves, mountains, roof-tops and even a mine-shaft
strategic elements like one-way shortcuts and terrain advantages
6 unique classes, each fulfilling his own niche function
controlled re-spawn system, based on which bases your team controls
integrated ticket counter and ticket-bleed system
the map resets itself, so no need to reload the map each round!
How do I install/play Conquest Arena?
Simply download the map-file provided above either to you local .saves folder, if you intend to play it in a LAN-environment, or upload it to your server (or host the server locally), specifying the map folder inside your server.properties file. It is recommended to also increase the "view-distance" property to 15, to help with the redstone loading.
Once you installed the map properly, each player will spawn on top of the lobby-platform. Assign a game-admin, who will control the game. The game-admin will have to access the admin-panel using creative-flying. There are signs and written books on the map to help you out.

Want to join us in a round of Conquest Arena?
We are periodically hosting Conquest Arena rounds ourselves and are always looking for players to join us and have a blast. If you feel like joining us and bring a couple friends, rather than start a round yourself, feel free to post here or PM me.
If you got any questions regarding the map, feel free to answer to this post or PM me, also, feedback is always appreciated.
Changelog and old versions: v2.1 for 1.5.1:
- Fixed the Speed-buff station on Black's side sometimes getting stuck. v2.0 for 1.5.1 (download): Technical changes:

- Added a new ladder on the back side of the granary to access the roof-top from the rear. Class changes:
- Replaced Skulls with colored leather helmets, as these are being equipped automatically by dispensers, and can not be covered by certain skins.
- Armor is now equipped automatically (thanks to 1.5 update).
- Items are now sorted in hotbar, in the same order for every class (Sword>Bow>Potions/Utility Items>Arrow)
- Added new class "Protector". Protector is a defensive class, wearing Diamond Armor, but only wielding a Wooden Sword. He gets 3 Resistance I and 1 Resistance III Splash Potions, as well as 2 "Bunker Potions" giving himself Resistance IV, but suffering Slowness II for it's duration.
