I like the first set a lot. the second set seems a bit scattered and strange. but I think im going to try those first ones!
That was kinda the point. They're not really meant to be sets. Some are ways to play the map, others are eventual goals, some are challenges, and others are just fun or random. By the way, have you freed those chickens yet?
I miss this map. My harddrive crashed and I lost everything, all my hard work!!
Awwww yea, this sounds like my kind of map! I love story driven maps, and you got me excited when I realized you were an author as well! Definitely going to give it a whirl, cannot wait to play

Challenge:Ten-lumne Tower- Rebuild the Tuolumne Hotel Casino to its former glory with the addition of hotel rooms starting on floor 5 and up. Populate the Hotel as well. Metro 2077- Build an underground metro system connecting Centerville, Newport, Helensdale, Fairveiw, Lake Stevens, Riverside, Natomas, and Tuolumne Springs. Feel free to add more stations. For extra credit, build it to be realistic. Vault 73- Make a vault anywhere you choose in Citrus Flats
Since my last posting, I haven't worked on Gasoline Dorado much at all. I've been pretty busy, and making Letters From A Dead Earth was such a huge undertaking that it kind of burned me out on Minecraft for the most part. In the intervening time, the texture pack I was using for Gasoline Dorado (The End is Extremely Vanilla) fell by the wayside, so until that changes, there's just too much extra work that would need to be done to make GD work with another texture pack.
For now, it's just going to be this map, but I haven't sworn off map-making altogether. When I'm less busy (and Mojang / resource pack developers are less busy making updates) I might pick up Gasoline Dorado again. I'd let you guys play it if it was further along, but it really needs a lot more work before it will be anything but huge, featureless and boring.

Of course, as soon as I post this, the map-making bug bites me again.
What you're looking at is the seed of a new map. The bad news is that when I went looking for Gasoline Dorado, I couldn't find it. I think I might have accidentally deleted it. The good news is that this map might be done by the end of the month. That's the target I'm aiming for.
It's called "The Wastes of Tulloch County" and it's much smaller than "Letters." It's better, though, in my opinion. It's more condensed, more carefully laid out and the resources aren't as heavy as they were in Letters. I've taken a lot of your feedback into consideration, and I'm building a ton of new structures to make the landscape that much more interesting.
Also would "Wastes of Tulloch County" have any extensive underground areas? Like old train tunnels and fallout shelters, abandoned strip mines or maybe decommissioned missile silos.

It sure does!

YEAH! Thanks for putting up the link for our updated pack! I'm one of the people working on it. Also if you need any help on either map id be glad too. I've been trying to make my own. (I build by hand, I don't use world editor or MC Edit so the process is VERY SLOW!)

Very cool, and thank you for the offer. I'm just making the final adjustments to the map at the moment, so I should have it in hand here soon.
Keep up the good work!
I'm also including some shots of the map in progress. Most of my work at this point is in MC (little adjustments) but I've used Worldpainter to take a shot of the surface and MCedit to get a shot that shows some of the underground stuff. There's all kinds of neat stuff to discover, find and repurpose in this map!

Just to be clear, the settlement with the tower and the Satellite statue that is right next to the crater and ruins is Tuolumne Springs? Right? I still dont know what town is which besides Citrus Flats and Helensdale
Tuolumne Springs is the desert town with the torn-up casino and the giant broken Isis statue that straddles the road into the casino parking lot. It's right at the edge of the wasteland. You get there by taking the mountain path that's behind the mansion in Citrus Flats (the starting town.)

Ok, I was right about that!
In the comic, Tuolumne Springs is a city of ghouls, most are there because of the radiation from the blast in the nearby ruins. Citrus Flats protects them and trades with them.
Its kinda a Fallout crossover with your map. Jefferson County was not hit directly by a bomb as the main city isnt wiped out. The Tydus might have something to do with that...
Where the hell is Quartz on LFDE? Am I supposed to believe that the double crater is all that's left? That, I feel, would be a real cop-out.
My evidence is as follows:
1.) The road goes over the crater, so logically, Quartz must be near the crater.
2.) Your information says there are 10 towns, therefore, Quartz can't be destroyed.
3.) The challenges page says to connect Quartz with Citrus Flats and Rustvale, therefore, it must have survivors.
4.) I've checked every cave connecting to the craters- no secret town underground.
My problems are as follows:
1.) Obviously, I cannot find Quartz.
2.) The ore blocks in the area are the only sign of your work; there's not much else.
3.) I'm still missing books.
4.) There's no sign of Quartz anywhere in the area, and yet it must be there.
5.) Though I'm in survival, and thus cannot noclip with a mod, my minimap mod does not see any villagers anywhere near the craters.. though there does appear to be a cow very far underground...

Good news, though-- the texture pack for this map is still being updated. I plugged in the new link, but I'll also post it here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/resource-packs/wip-resource-pack/1259199-32x32-1-6-x-the-end-is-extremely-nigh-revolution

Now I can't wait to play it! Also would it have books like LFADE?
Anyways like I said I'm one of the people working on it! I do the sounds and the music update will be very soon. As is the splashes.txt file. And even more textures! You can find the pack here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/resource-packs/wip-resource-pack/1259199-32x32-1-6-x-the-end-is-extremely-nigh-revolution
