I am excited to put my own touch into the Minecraft community. There have been Adventure Maps in the past- thousands of them! But do they need to be made from scratch each time?
This particular Adventure Map Template is for anyone of you who aspires to make a desert themed Adventure Map. You'll never run out of Desert to build in here!

Massive Desert Biome
This map is available for download with a desert that stretches from
X= -1000 to X= 1000
Z= -1000 Z = 1000
We've invested many hours in this already. Four billion blocks have been edited (that's less than 96 octillion.) We are still working on the seemingly endless task of smoothing. Our goal is to make a smooth rolling terrain of pure desert.
Virtually Lagless
Minecraft's rendering system causes every block with exposed edges to be rendered, regardless of if you can see that block or not. This map is free of underground tunnel systems, meaning the Minecraft engine does not have to render any block which cannot be seen by you. This has been known to improve frame rate by upwards of 30 FPS.
Wasteland
So what is included in this wasteland? No life. None of your regular Desert Cacti or bushes will be here.
The breakdown of Y coordinates goes like this:
Y= 50+ Sand
Y= 10 - 50 Sandstone
Y= -10 Completely unedited. Diamonds, lava pools, and other ores are available here.
It would be definitely tough to survive here. It'd be fun to see a Hardcore Let's Play series on the completed Wasteland Map.
Adventure Map Template
This is an Adventure Map Template. What does this mean? It means that if you ever are so inclined to create an Adventure Map of your own, and you just can't get that Desert Adventure theme out of your head, this is the map for you. You will never run out of desert to build in with this map. Also, if you think that we are -just- changing blocks into sand, you're wrong! We've edited the actual biome itself, and therefore if the one playing your map presses F3, they won't see that they are mysteriously in a Jungle or River biome, they are always in a Desert biome.
Made To Your Preference
This will not only be one map, but the current plan is to make it into four different maps.
Smooth, tame desert
Large rolling hills desert
Smooth, tame desert with cacti
Large rolling hills desert with cacti
Of course, if you have any suggestions, feel free to post them.
Custom Texture Pack
Currently not implemented, a Texture Pack will be made and is suggested to be used along with this map. It is in the process of being made. The texture will be based from the original default texture, but will give a slight sandy, desert-like feel. There will be subtle differences from the default texture, and will be used in our upcoming Adventure Map.
All maps made from this template will be included in this list!
Changelog (+ Old Versions)
0.0.0
Previously mentioned, the map is reaching its two billionth block. There are patches of complete work, but from Z= 100 to Z= 1000, the map is through its first phase of work. Smoothing has to be done after every block is replaced with sandstone and sand. Biome Editor has been run on this map, and therefore everywhere you walk to will be considered "Desert Biome." The occasional sand spire can be seen, these are necessary to construct sand chunks. They will not be available in the final release.
Time on 0.0.0: 15 hours.
Total Time Count: 15 hours.
